ForSight Robotics raises $125m for cataract surgery robotic platform

Yahoo6 hours ago

Israel-based ForSight Robotics has completed a Series B funding round, raising $125m to fuel the growth phase of the robotic surgery platform intended for cataract and other eye conditions.
Claimed to be a world first, the ORYOM platform is tailored to reduce the physical load on surgeons and improve surgical precision. ForSight is gearing up to introduce first-in-human trials within the year.
Spearheaded by Eclipse, the round also included substantial contributions from an undisclosed investor, alongside Intuitive Surgical founder Dr Fred Moll, Reiya Ventures, the Adani Group, and other current investors.
This latest financial injection brings the company's total funding to $195m.
ForSight noted that the platform leverages AI-based algorithms, computer vision, and micromechanics to provide manoeuvrability and dexterity.
Capable of reaching any point in the human eye, the platform claims to facilitate navigation through difficult angles and ensures access to anterior and posterior segments, enabling future glaucoma and retinal surgical treatments.
Using the platform, more than 24 ophthalmic surgeons have already performed several procedures on animal eye models.
The company plans to begin robotic cataract surgery clinical trials in the upcoming year.
ForSight Robotics' chief medical officer, president, and co-founder Dr Joseph Nathan said: 'We see ophthalmology as the next frontier in the robotics revolution – much like general surgery was before the rise of Intuitive Surgical. With a comparable market size and an urgent global need, our opportunity ahead is immense.
'Through our latest funding round, we will bring the same level of transformative impact to eye surgery, with technology designed specifically for its unique precision and complexity.'
ForSight has formed a strategic advisory board comprising leaders in surgical robotics. They include MAKO Surgical Corp founder Rony Abovitz and Dr Fred Moll, who recently joined ForSight's board of directors.
"ForSight Robotics raises $125m for cataract surgery robotic platform" was originally created and published by Medical Device Network, a GlobalData owned brand.

VICI Properties (VICI) is a leading real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in gaming, hospitality, and experiential real estate assets with a market capitalization of $34.7 billion. The company's dividend is a core attraction, currently offering an annualized payout of $1.73 per share, a robust 5.3% yield, and a sustainable payout ratio of 60.9%. VICI's shares have delivered year-to-date gains of 12.7% and 52-week returns of 15.8%. The company's first-quarter 2025 results, released April 30, 2025, highlighted revenue of $984.2 million, up 3.4% year-over-year, and net income attributable to common stockholders of $543.6 million, or $0.51 per share. Adjusted funds from operations (AFFO) rose 5.6% to $616 million, or $0.58 per share, and the company ended the quarter with $334.3 million in cash and $624.6 million in estimated forward sale equity proceeds. For full-year 2025, management raised AFFO guidance to between $2.47 billion and $2.50 billion, or $2.33–$2.36 per diluted share. Analysts are calling for moderate earnings per share growth to $0.59 for the current quarter. Analyst consensus is resoundingly positive, with the 22 surveyed analysts rating VICI a consensus 'Strong Buy' and giving it an average price target of $36.13. This optimism is rooted in VICI's defensive business model, strong cash flows, and strategic expansion. Eversource Energy (ES) delivers electricity and natural gas (NGN25) to customers across New England, operating as a regulated utility. The company supports a generous dividend, currently yielding 4.7% with an annual payout of $3.01 per share. Eversource's share price is just below $64, reflecting year-to-date gains of 11.3% and a 52-week return of 10.2%. Eversource's first-quarter 2025 results revealed GAAP earnings of $1.50 per share, a slight increase from $1.49 in the previous year. The transmission, electric distribution, and natural gas segments all reported improved earnings due to higher investments and effective rate mechanisms. In contrast, the parent segment experienced increased losses due to higher interest expenses. ES's $2.4 billion sale of Aquarion, which includes $1.6 billion in cash and $800 million in cleared debt, sharpens its focus on core electric and gas operations and strengthens its balance sheet. The company's capital investment plan of $24.2 billion for 2025–2029, primarily aimed at distribution and transmission, supports steady, rate-regulated growth. The company reaffirmed 2025 EPS guidance of $4.67–$4.82 per share and a long-term growth rate of 5%–7% through 2029. Analyst sentiment remains generally positive, with a 'Moderate Buy' rating from 19 analysts and an average price target of $68.56. Pinnacle West Capital (PNW) is the parent company of Arizona Public Service (APS), supplying electricity to over 1.4 million customers across Arizona. The company's dividend is both reliable and growing, with a recent quarterly payout of $0.895 per share, translating to an annual yield of roughly 4% and a payout ratio of 70.9%. Pinnacle's shares are priced just above $90, reflecting a year-to-date gain of 6.5% and a 52-week return of 19.3%. Pinnacle West's first-quarter 2025 results, released May 1, 2025, revealed a net loss attributable to common shareholders of $4.6 million, or $0.04 per diluted share, missing analyst expectations by $0.06, but revenue surpassed forecasts at $1.03 billion, up 8.4% year-over-year. CEO Ted Geisler noted, 'Financial results in the first quarter were in line with our expectations, especially given the power plant overhauls and maintenance work built into our budget to ensure reliability for the summer months,' while highlighting robust customer and electricity sales growth as Arizona's economy continues to expand. APS retail customers grew 2.3% and retail sales increased 2.1% quarter-over-quarter, reinforcing the region's strong economic momentum. The company's APS sector is nearing completion of scheduled maintenance and refueling at the Palo Verde Generating Station Unit 1, ensuring grid reliability and supporting long-term operational efficiency. For 2025, Pinnacle West maintains consolidated earnings guidance of $4.40 to $4.60 per diluted share. Analyst consensus remains positive with a 'Moderate Buy' rating from 15 analysts and an average price target of $97.71. With geopolitical tensions high, VICI, ES, and PNW are solid choices for portfolio protection and steady income. Each company's reliable dividends and defensive business models make them especially attractive when markets get shaky. Looking ahead, shares in these names are likely to hold their ground or even post modest gains, as investors continue to favor stability over risk. While nothing's ever guaranteed, the focus on infrastructure, real estate, and essential services means these stocks should weather volatility better than most. Forget the ‘Magnificent Seven' — these 7 cheap tech and AI stocks are better buys right now

When unforeseen market-moving events heighten investors' anxiety, the best thing an investor can do is find discounted stocks to own for the long term, as conditions stabilize. This mindset has helped Needham Aggressive Growth Fund NEAGX manager John Barr keep calm during troubling times — and significantly outperform the stock market. 'As bad as things may seem, if you look out five years, things will be all right,' he says. My job is offering me a payout. Should I take a $61,000 lump sum or $355 a month for life? My friend asked me to chip in $1,600 for her son's prom-night limo. Has the world gone mad? The next great WFH trend will be 'War from Home,' says this strategist Israel-Iran clash delivers a fresh shock to investors. History suggests this is the move to make. We're living in 'end times' when you can't retire on $1 million Simple — but not easy. Yet over the past five years, Barr's fund is up more than twice as much as its rival funds and benchmark index, according to Morningstar Direct. Since Barr's record is so unusually good, I recently checked in with him to learn about other strategies that help him produce those results. Unlike so many fund managers, Barr gets his market-beating returns with no help from the so-called Magnificent Seven stocks, outside of a small position in Apple AAPL. Three key lessons for investors: 1. Look beyond the Magnificent Seven to 'picks and shovels' — companies that produce or supply the services and components that other companies need. 2. Barr positions to benefit from long-term trends, including AI and data-center growth, the increasing complexity of semiconductors and the reshoring of U.S. multinationals. 3. Many of the fund manager's investments are smaller, lesser-known companies. That's the point. Because they are underfollowed by Wall Street and the media, these companies' product rollouts are mostly unrecognized. This increases the odds they are 'hidden compounders' which could grow tenfold or more. Skeptics warn AI is in a bubble. Barr dismisses these warnings as another example of more noise to be ignored. 'AI is in its early stages,' he says. One stock he points to is Vertiv Holdings LLC VRT, which he says will continue to benefit from the growth of AI and the build-out of the data centers AI needs to function. The digital infrastructure is complex, and it runs hot. Vertiv, which traces its roots back to the first company to sell computer-room air conditioning in 1946, develops and sells the components and cooling systems that keep data centers running. This stock is well into 10-bagger-plus status, but Barr thinks it has more to run. It was a top-10 holding for the fund at the end of the first quarter. The computing and power conservation demands of AI, electric vehicles and smartphones continue to drive up the complexity of semiconductors. Here are four stocks that should benefit: FormFactor Inc.: FORM provides test and measurement tech used in chip making. It should get growth from the sale of 'probe cards' used to test how well chips work while they are still being made. Its probe cards are essential for the production of high-bandwidth memory used by AI. Camtek Ltd.: CAMT This company sells high-end testing and measurement equipment used in the semiconductor industry. Camtek should see continued solid revenue growth because of the recent rollout of two new testing products: Eagle G5 and Hawk. They are used in the manufacturing of chips for high-performance computing that supports AI applications. PDF Solutions Inc.: PDFS This company offers products that help chip makers collect and analyze data to improve the yield and quality of their products. 'They catch errors, which helps manufacturers save money,' Barr says. Also, the company is founder-run, which can be a plus. Arteris Inc.: AIP Arteris is a seller of the technology that helps various components subsystems on semiconductors communicate. As system-on-chip semiconductors get more complex because of the need for more computing power, Arteris should be a beneficiary. The company has introduced several new products in the past 18 months that should help drive more growth than the market recognizes, Barr predicts. Two stocks to capture renewed U.S. industrial growth: President Donald Trump's tariff policies are designed to encourage more manufacturing in the U.S. Companies that supply the 'picks' and 'shovels' to build and automate these manufacturing plants could do well, Barr says. Two other stocks to consider: Vishay Intertechnology Inc.: VSH Automation will play a big role in new manufacturing plants in the U.S. Vishay plays right into that trend. It sells computer chips and electronic components used in automated factory equipment, among other products. 'We are supporting next-level automation in multiple areas, including factories, the electrification of the automobile, 5G network technology, artificial intelligence, and the rapid expansion of connectivity across everything,' the company says. Cognex Corp.: CGNX Products offered by Cognex make sure a factory's operations are progressing smoothly, because humans can't always be relied on to do this. The company says its 'machine vision products' surveillance systems are particularly valuable for 'applications in which human vision is inadequate, or where substantial cost savings are obtained through the reduction of labor or improved product quality.' The systems are also used in e-commerce warehouses, another growth area, Barr notes. Barr says potential growth from Vishay's new plants in Mexico and Wales and a new marketing approach at Cognex are not fully priced in these companies' shares, making both of them valuable hidden compounder' investments. Buy stocks, sell bonds: How billionaire investor Bill Gross says investors should play an unpredictable market

Billionaire investor and former Pimco co-founder Bill Gross has a cautious outlook on the bond market, but see continued strength ahead for stocks. The "Bond King" shared his take on both markets this week in a post on X, predicting a "little bull market" for stocks and a "little bear market" for bonds. In his view, the 10-year Treasury yield isn't likely to dip below 4.25% soon, highlighting inflationary trends and deficit concerns. The yield on Tuesday was up slightly by about one basis point to 4.31%. Gross sees more strength in the equity markets and maintains that stocks are likely to continue rising. He cites support from the tech sector, specifically artificial intelligence companies, as a likely growth driver. Tech stocks are enjoying continued momentum, with the Nasdaq 100 index closing at a record high on Tuesday as markets cheered the Israel-Iran ceasfire. Major chip companies with high AI exposure, such as Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices, and Broadcom, have all trended upward despite the high uncertainty generated by geopolitics in recent weeks. Gross's thesis is for AI to support economic growth of 1%-2%. Regardin bonds, he said "deficits/ensuing supply of bonds/and a weak dollar should keep CPI from falling below 2.5% and the 10 year from falling below 4.25%." As Treasurys are a lending benchmark for many consumer products, Gross's predictions for yields to remain elevated could complicate plans for everyday Americans. If yields remain stubbornly high, homebuyers looking for lower mortgage rates could be disappointed. Despite the unpredictable nature of the current economy, Gross adds that for now, he doesn't see anything "too dramatic" happening in either the stock or bond market.
