Kansas archbishop mourns loss of beloved priest killed outside home
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Archbishop of Kansas City in Kansas is sharing the shock and grief of his flock after the tragic , Father Arul Carasala.
'He was very beloved by people, and it's a loss to our brother priest,' Archbishop Joseph Naumann said, reflecting on the devastating loss.

Carasala was gunned down outside his home in Seneca, Kansas on Thursday afternoon.
Prosecutors have of Tulsa, Oklahoma with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Carasala.
Hermesch, a former parishioner at this parish, is believed to have had a history with the church, though Naumann clarified that Carasala was not the priest when Hermesch attended the parish.
In an emotional tribute, Naumann described Carasala as a 'gentle person' who was not only intelligent but also motivational.
'He was a strong leader, he was able to motivate people to do beautiful things,' Naumann shared, highlighting Carasala's impact.
Carasala was deeply respected by both his parishioners and fellow clergy.

Naumann emphasized that Carasala was the kind of priest everyone would want, someone dedicated to his community and faith.
In fact, just before his tragic death, Carasala had launched a new project—a thrift store in Seneca to serve the local poor.
'It's very devastating, particularly to the people of his parish. He was pastor there for more than 10 years,' Naumann said.
The shooting took place outside of Carasala's residence in Seneca, where Hermesch is suspected of opening fire.
The archbishop revealed that Hermesch had attended the same parish, adding a personal history to the case.
While it's clear that Hermesch had anger towards the church, Naumann said, 'I'm told he had anger against the church, but I'm not sure what the source of that anger was.'
In the midst of this heartbreak, Naumann is offering reassurance to the grieving community.
'We live in a sin-fractured world, and so we know Jesus tells us he does not promise easy. He doesn't say, 'Follow me, and you'll never have any trouble or problems.' It's part of life in this world, but what Jesus does promise is we'll never be alone,' Naumann said.

This weekend, the archbishop will travel to Seneca, to lead all four services at the church where Carasala served.

Hillsborough County deputies make arrests in shooting that injured teen
The Brief Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office have made arrests in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. Detectives said they found evidence connected to the shooting inside a bedroom belonging to a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old. A 38-year-old man was also arrested for driving with a suspended license when deputies said they found him driving the vehicle linked to the suspected shooter. PROGRESS VILLAGE, Fla. - Two teenage felons have been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. The backstory According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to the area of South 81st Street and Fir Drive shortly before 12:40 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found a teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Menomonee Falls FedEx gunfire, man charged with attempted homicide
The Brief Prosecutors said a man shot at a manager at the Menomonee Falls FedEx facility. The 19-year-old is now charged with attempted homicide and misdemeanor battery. Court filings said the gunfire stemmed from an argument and fight. MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - A man is accused of attempted homicide after prosecutors say he shot at a manager during a fight at the Menomonee Falls FedEx facility on Monday. In Court Prosecutors charged 19-year-old DeAnthony Leflore with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and misdemeanor battery. His bond was set at $200,000 on Friday. A criminal complaint states callers reported Leflore had fired a gun, but no one was shot. When police got there, court filings said a security worker informed them that Leflore was no longer in the facility's gated area. It was unclear where Leflore went, and officers searched for but did not find him. What they're saying Prosecutors said a manager told investigators that Leflore arrived at the facility around 2:30 a.m. – an hour before his shift – and was unable to scan his badge and get inside. He was told to go home because he wasn't allowed to start early. Leflore later made a comment that the manager took "to mean (Leflore) was going to shoot her," per the complaint, before he left. The manager then told security not to let him in "because of his escalating behavior." Leflore and the manager who had previously sent him home then got into an argument, and that manager told him to leave "because of his earlier behavior." Court filings said Leflore then asked that manager if he was fired or not before saying, "I'm finna force it," and repeatedly punching the manager in the face. The manager said she bit Leflore's hand and pulled his hair to try to get him off of her, and another manager came over to separate them. Leflore then ran toward a fence that separates the main facility from the parking lot, per the complaint. He grabbed a gun from a backpack and pointed it at the manager. The victim said she saw a laser sight affixed to the gun, and she saw the point of the laser on her chest before Leflore said: "(Expletive) I'll pop you." The victim said she then heard gunshots as she ran, but she was not hit. The complaint states police found a bullet casing and some of Leflore's hair, which was ripped out during the struggle, at the scene. A security worker said he saw the fight and saw Leflore holding a gun with a laser sight that "appeared" to be pointed at the victim. He heard one gunshot and called 911. Additional witnesses also said they saw Leflore with a gun. Surveillance video showed the fight, according to court filings, during which Leflore went to the fence line and picked up what appeared to be a gun before pointing it at the victim. One gunshot was heard as everyone ran from the area. Additional video showed Leflore walking away with a gun "clearly" tucked in the front of his waistband.
