Man in hospital after Kilburn stabbing with attacker on the loose
A man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in North London. Police raced to Kilburn High Road just before 10.30pm last night (Sunday, May 25).
At the scene, they found the 23-year-old who was rushed to hospital with a knife wound. His injuries were there assessed as non-life-threatening or life-changing. There have been no arrests.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: 'Officers were called to the scene of an altercation in Kilburn High Road, Kilburn, at 10.28pm on Sunday, May 25.

'A 23-year-old man received treatment from the London Ambulance Service for a stab wound. He was then taken to hospital where his injuries were confirmed to be non-life-threatening or life-changing.
'No arrests have been made at this stage. The investigation continues.'

Suspended Met officer spent five years on full pay
The Metropolitan Police says Londoners "will be as outraged as we are at the utter waste of public funds" after a disciplinary process for one of its senior officers took almost five years. Cdr Julian Bennett has been dismissed from the force for a second time following a misconduct hearing. He had been suspended from duty since July 2020 after he refused to provide a sample for a drugs test. He was initially dismissed in October 2023 but he appealed to the Police Appeals Tribunal (PAT) which ordered a new hearing on the basis the panel had ruled on allegations they were not asked to. Mr Bennett was suspended on full pay during the whole process. On Tuesday the second panel found the allegation proven against Mr Bennett at the level of gross misconduct. Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist said the former senior officer "knew full well what was required of him, yet he made a choice not to cooperate". "I am enormously concerned that almost five years since this incident happened we have only now been able to dismiss Cdr Bennett," added Assistant Commissioner Twist. "This should have been a simple matter. Cdr Bennett has never disputed he refused a lawful order to take a drugs test." He said greater use by the Met of accelerated misconduct hearings to fast-track cases where the evidence is "irrefutable" would allow the force to dismiss officers "far more quickly". "I am confident a situation like Cdr Bennett's prolonged case would not happen again," he added. The original disciplinary panel rejected a claim by Mr Bennett's former flatmate Sheila Gomes that he had used cannabis daily before breakfast. But it found that he had breached professional standards when he refused to do a drugs test. He told the first panel he had been taking CBD (cannabidiol) to treat facial palsy and was worried the sample would come up positive for an innocent reason. Mr Bennett - who wrote a Met drugs strategy in 2017 - was found in 2023 to have breached force standards for honesty and integrity, orders and instructions and discreditable conduct and was sacked. His lawyers successfully argued that while he had always admitted refusing to provide a sample, the panel found him guilty of a lack of integrity that he had not been charged with. Following the PAT's decision to revoke the dismissal, the Met considered a legal challenge by way of a judicial review but decided that Mr Bennett should face a fresh misconduct hearing. Following the misconduct panel's decision and his subsequent dismissal, Mr Bennett will be added to the College of Policing's barred list. A Man Was Arrested After Breaking Into the Grounds of Windsor Castle
A man has been arrested after sparking a security scare at Windsor Castle. The intruder entered the restricted grounds of the castle on Sunday where he was detained on suspicion of trespassing and possession of drugs, police told news outlets today. 'A man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of trespass on a protected site and possession of Class A drugs after entering private grounds at Windsor Castle,' a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police, who are responsible for royal protection, told media in a statement. 'Officers in the grounds spotted the man just after 13.00hrs on Sunday, 1 June and quickly arrested him. He was then passed into the custody of Thames Valley Police.' Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest to media, pointing out that the man did not enter the inner grounds at Windsor Castle. The man has been bailed and an investigation is ongoing. The Sun, which broke the story, quoted a source as saying the incident 'caused quite a stir,' but that 'at this stage it appears there was no intent to cause any serious harm.' Windsor Castle is one of the King's official residences. However, last weekend he was photographed at Sandringham in Norfolk where he waved to those gathered as he made his way to church. Prince William, Kate, and their three children live in Adelaide Cottage, which is on the grounds of the Windsor Castle estate. It is not known if they were home at the time of the incident, however their cottage is not situated next to the castle itself where the intruder was detained. Buckingham Palace has been contacted for comment. This is not the first time that an intruder has made it into the castle grounds, and previous incidents have at times been serious. Met Police commander Julian Bennett sacked for second time after refusing drugs test
A Metropolitan Police commander has been sacked from the force for a second time after he refused to take a drugs test when accused of smoking cannabis. Julian Bennett, who joined the force in 1976 and wrote its drugs strategy, was initially dismissed in October 2023 after being found to have committed gross misconduct. After the initial ruling was quashed, a new misconduct hearing again found that the allegation of gross misconduct was proven. Met Police Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist said he was "enormously concerned that almost five years since this incident happened we have only now been able to dismiss Commander Bennett". "This should have been a simple matter," he added, noting that Mr Bennett "never disputed he refused a lawful order to take a drugs test". Mr Bennett "has been suspended on full pay for an extraordinary length of time", Mr Twist said. "I am sure Londoners will be as outraged as we are at the utter waste of public funds spent paying a senior officer to sit at home suspended and not work," he added. The hearing was told Mr Bennett was asked on 21 July 2020 to provide a urine sample after reasonable cause to suspect he had taken drugs, which he refused to do. He was suspended from duty three days later. In 2023, an independent panel found that he had committed gross misconduct by refusing the drugs test. Mr Bennett's former flatmate Sheila Gomes claimed at the time that he had smoked cannabis daily before breakfast and leaving for work at New Scotland Yard. However allegations that he smoked cannabis while off duty between February 2019 and July 2020, and that he gave an untrue explanation for why he refused to do the drugs test, were found not proven. He wrote the force's drugs strategy for 2017-21 as a commander for territorial policing. He has remained suspended on full pay for the duration of the proceedings. He will now be added to the barred list held by the College of Policing, meaning he cannot be employed by police. In response to the 2023 ruling, Mr Bennett's solicitors said at the time: "The panel found that Cdr Bennett did not take any drugs, cannabis or otherwise. "The panel found Cdr Bennett guilty of refusing to take a drug test, something he had always admitted."
