Torfaen Pride celebrated in style as hundreds brave the rain
Torfaen Pride ran on Saturday. And with more than 70 food and craft stalls, a funfair, multiple bars and two main stages full of performers, there was something for everyone!
This was the event's second year and the rain couldn't keep people away.
Organised by LGBTQ+ Charity Friends of Dorothy Cymru, over 5,000 came along to the jamboree.

Becky attended her first Pride with her 47-year-old girlfriend Kelly Devile.
The trio had the following to say about today's event.
Becky said: 'We are really chuffed to be here representing the LGBTQ+ community and we are very excited to be here.
'We are lesbian owned and lesbian run bar, and we are best friends and we set it up originally as a bit of a hobby and we are just enjoying life together."

"No one should be on their own or sad.
"They need to come here and see everyone is welcome.'
Amy Adams is a transgender woman.
The 56-year-old said: "It's something for all the community, not just LGBT.
Transgender woman Amy Adams at Torfaen Pride (Image: NQ) 'I'm trans, and when you see Pride mentioned you get some people saying, 'how much is that going to cost the council?' Today the council is charging us to use the park.
'How many times do you get a free event with live music that doesn't cost people a penny and you can just turn up?'
Friend's Rhi Jones 25, Shanon Charles 28 and David Parrish 28 at Torfaen Pride (Image: NQ) Rhi Jones, 25, talked about gender identity and how Pride is a safe space.
She said: 'I think it's so amazing seeing so many people! I came out as pansexual and struggled with my gender identity.
'Don't listen to people who are going to be negative or try put you down.
'There are communities here if you walk and talk to someone at Pride, they will help you and be nice there's no judgement here.'
They also recommended the following platform for LGBTQ+ mental health services.
'Regarding mental health platforms Melo is great. They're part of the NHS and have outlets for people who are LGBTQ+ and Trans.'

The self-described "hostess with the mostest" talked about how Pride was historically a form of protest and how exciting it is for Torfaen Pride to be running once more.
Tammy said: 'I preformed the first year here as the hostess with the mostest and I'm here once again to take the reins on a fantastic event.
'It's absolutely lovely to see the first time around we had such a wonderful turn out and we've got even more people here it's amazing!'
Tammy Paxton Newport based Drag Queen in her dressing room (Image: NQ) Tammy added: 'One thing people forget though is that Pride is fundamentally a protest, we have to attend our Pride and it's about making the queer community feel safe and visible.'

He said: 'The weather was touch and go but after every rainstorm there's a rainbow and it's time to shine bright today.
'Last year we had 5,000 people and today there's people everywhere and it's a free day!'

Holmfirth Pride brings town together after homophobic attack
A town has held its first Pride event in response to a homophobic attack on a man as he was leaving a Pride 2025 took place on Saturday and Sunday after being organised by residents Hilary Bowyer and Isobel festival included activities such as a rainbow scavenger hunt, drag bingo, and an exhibition of queer art featuring local owner Ms Heely, said the event was organised after a man in his 20s was attacked by five men outside The Old Bridge on Norridge Bottom on 12 April. She said: "As a close-knit community, we were all horrified when we heard about the incident and did not want anybody to feel like we were not supportive."We did not want people to think that this is the sort of thing that happens here and we wanted to show it does not represent us as a community."All of the 65 businesses in the town have got bunting up and people are leaving their mark in the streets with chalk to show that there is acceptance and we are welcoming to all."Ms Heely added the positive response to the event had "had me in tears" as it had shown how the "community has really rallied together". She said: "It has been heartwarming to see such a positive response to something negative."We've had six weeks to pull the project together to make sure it was ready for Pride month and were lucky to get funding from the parish council and Kirklees Council."The response has been so great that we're planning to hold the event again next year."We just want to send a message that everybody belongs and we will not tolerate hate."The attack left the victim with facial injuries after being punched and kicked by the group, who had also made offensive slurs to the victim and his partner, and was investigated as a hate crime by West Yorkshire Police. Baby l love you: Newport Baby Fayre held at Holiday Inn
Newport Baby Fayre was held at the city's Holiday Inn hotel at the Coldra. At the event there were litems from personalised gifts for friends and family to essentials like clothing and shoes. Here are just some of the many baby themed businesses that were on show. Puddle Ducks Southeast Wales at Newport Baby Fayre (Image: NQ) Helen Hicks, 46, was representing Puddle Duck Southeast Wales. She was promoting the benefits of baby swim classes. Helen said: 'So, it helps teach water confidence, water safety our approach is all guided learning it's all very gentle and led by our children.' Acorns Nurseries at Newport Baby Fayre (Image: NQ) Also, at the event was Acorns Nurseries. Sian Hughes, 46, and Stephanie Davies, 53, were representatives for the nursery branch. Speaking of Acorns Stephanie said: 'We provide everything, all our children are well cared for, we also supply nappies, Sudo cream, wet wipes, whatever the parents preference is we supply that.' Tots Play! at Newport Baby Fayre (Image: NQ) Playgroup Tots Play were at the event. Kaye Price, aged 49, and 45-year-old Vicky spray told the Argus about Tots Play. Kaye said: 'At Tots Play we cover everything from baby massage, to sign language, to sensory play, so a little bit to cover each age group and it's a great way for mums to get out the house and meet other mums in the area. Brynmawr food festival is taking place next weekend
The Brynmawr Town Centre Food Festival is returning next weekend on Saturday, June 14. The event is running from 10am to 5pm and promises to have something for everyone. Visitors can indulge in a wide range of offerings from food and drink vendors, serving delicious eats and refreshing beverages. With both sweet and savoury options and tonnes of stalls what's not to love? Crowds at Brynmawr Food Festival (Image: NQ) The event will have at least 30 different vendors each with their own unique food speciality. At the event popular Welsh businesses and local businesses will be on show. Visitors can also take advantage of a free park and ride service at Brynmawr Foundation School, ensuring easy access to the town centre. Live music performances will also be ongoing throughout the day creating a lively atmosphere. Attendees can look forward to performances by The Kiltics, Laura Jasmin, and The Valli Boys. Community radio presenters BGFM who will be hosting the event which will include interactive radio style games for the community to partake in. Food on show at Brynmawr Food Festival (Image: NQ) Alongside this entertainment including face painters, a rodeo bull, and a bouncy castle will also be at the event. Can you imagine falling of a rodeo bull on a full stomach we are sure someone will have that experience next Saturday! The event has been organised by Blaenau Gwent council and funded through the Welsh Government. Local author Kiersten Ward, author of Mindful Monster, will also be signing books at the food festival. With over 20,000 copies sold in just over six months, Kiersten's books are reaching families across the UK. These vibrant and relatable stories explore common feelings and worries in a playful, accessible way, helping children understand and express their emotions. Councillor John Morgan, cabinet member for economy and place, said: "The Brynmawr Town Centre Food Festival is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the diverse culinary talents we have here in Blaenau Gwent. "I encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the day." With hundreds of people expected to attend the event the day looks like a very popular day out!
