When Suniel Shetty addressed rumours of Aamir Khan carrying a ‘pistol': ‘What you hear is not always true'

Time of India6 hours ago

Over the years, many stories have done the rounds about Bollywood's connection with the Mumbai underworld. The 90s era in particular was believed to be deeply influenced by gangsters.
But what's true and what's not? In a fan interaction,
Suniel Shetty
cleared the air, especially about the long-standing rumour that
Aamir Khan
always carried a gun for protection.
'We are absolutely safe out here'
During an old chat with fans on Rediff, a user asked Suniel a rather bold question: 'Tell me, do Bollywood stars live under constant threat from the underworld? I have heard that Aamir Khan always carries a pistol. What about you?"
Suniel quickly shut down the claim, replying, 'It's all nonsense — what you hear and read is not always true.
We are absolutely safe out here.'
His firm denial suggested that such rumours are mostly overblown, and that stars like Aamir Khan don't really live in fear or walk around with weapons as many people think.
When Suniel Shetty faced real threats
Though he denied the idea that actors carry guns or live in fear, Suniel a few days ago shared a shocking story during a conversation with Lallantop. He opened up about the time when underworld threats were real and personal.
In the 90s, the Shetty name was known for being bold and united. Suniel said gangsters tried to target him because of his surname, thinking they could scare other families with the same name into paying protection money.
He shared, 'Maybe they thought that if they scare him, then other Shettys will also start paying hafta out of fear. Toh ek din Hemant Pujari ne mujhe phone karke bola ki tere pitaji jab subah 5-5.30 baje walk ke liye jaate hain, tab main unhe goli maar doonga.'
(So one day, Hemant Pujari called me and said, 'When your father goes for a walk around 5 to 5:30 in the morning, I will shoot him.)
Instead of showing fear, Suniel gave it back to the caller in full force. He said he didn't even let the gangster speak properly. 'I couldn't hold myself back. I also abused him. I didn't even let him speak.'
And then came the most powerful part. Suniel told the caller that he knew where his family lived and that he had more money and stronger contacts than the gangster could imagine.
He said, 'Maine bataya usko ki uski behnein kahaan rehti hain, uske chaar bhai kahaan hain, uska saala kahaan hai. Maine bola mere paas tujhse zyada paise bhi hain aur connections bhi. Aur ek 70–80 saal ke aadmi ko goli maar ke kya kar loge? Yeh karke kehna kya chahte ho? Aur maine gaaliyan de di. Yeh call record ho gaya tha. Mere paas security thi.' (I told him where his sisters live, where his four brothers are, and where his brother-in-law is.
I said, 'I have more money and connections than you. And what will you achieve by shooting a 70–80-year-old man? What are you trying to prove by doing that?)

Meet actress, whose father was star who gave back-to-back 15 blockbusters, gave many flops, left Bollywood, married to superstar whose name is…, she is…

Surviving in the Bollywood industry is not easy. Not everyone achieves success, and many face significant struggles. However, some individuals choose to step back and pursue a different path entirely. One such case involves a popular celebrity whose father and mother are considered as legends of cinema. She initially entered the entertainment world as an actor, but after experiencing a few setbacks, she decided to take a step back from the world of showbiz. Bollywood Actress… Here we are talking about Bollywood actress Twinkle Khanna , who made a blockbuster debut in Bollywood in 1995 with the film Barsaat , where she was paired opposite actor Bobby Deol . The film earned Rs 34 crore and Twinkle became an overnight star. Following this success, she appeared in several films that starred Govinda, Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan . However, after six years in the industry, Twinkle decided to step away from Bollywood due to a series of film flops. Her father, superstar Rajesh Khanna and her mother, Dimple Kapadia , are also among the most renowned faces from the industry who have given many great hits in their careers. Meanwhile, Rajesh Khanna holds a stellar record of giving back-to-back 15 consecutive blockbusters, which include Aradhana, Doli, Bandhan, Ittefaq, Do Raaste, Khamoshi, Safar, The Train, Kati Patang, Sachaa Jhutha, Aan Milo Sajna, Mehboob Ki Mehendi, Choti Bahu, Anand, Andaz, Maryada, and Haathi Mere Saathi. However, fate wanted something else for their darling daughter. When Twinkle Decided To Bid Farewell To World Of Glitz And Glamour In 2001, after starring alongside Aamir Khan in Mela , she decided to leave the film industry due to the movie's disappointing box office performance. Her last film appearance was in Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega , opposite Saif Ali Khan. Later, she met Akshay Kumar during a photo shoot for Filmfare magazine, with whom she had already done action-thriller International Khiladi . The couple got engaged twice before ultimately marrying on January 17, 2001 . Shortly after their marriage, Twinkle chose to step away from Bollywood, stating that she no longer enjoyed acting. Despite having different personalities, many believed they would eventually part ways, however, they have been happily married for more than two decades and continue to thrive together. They have two children, son named Aarav and daughter named Nitara . After leaving her acting career, she pursued other interests. In 2002, Khanna opened her interior design store, The White Window , in Mumbai and collaborated with several actors on various projects. She also co-produced her better-half films such as Tees Maar Khan and Pad Man .

Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office: Aamir Khan, and team relies on Saturday over Friday - Here's WHY!

Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by R S Prasanna and co-starring Genelia Deshmukh and a bunch of other wonderful actors, is all set to hit theatres on 20th June, 2025. The film's promotions have been aggressive with Aamir Khan leaving no stone unturned to create awareness of his anticipated release. As the heartwarming movie hits theatres this Friday, we discuss - why not the opening Friday but the first Saturday is the most important day for Sitaare Zameen Par. Sitaare Zameen Par, despite aggressive promotions by Aamir Khan, has not been able to create the hype an Aamir Khan starrer should be creating, 4 days out. The units of the movie have not travelled far and wide. However, based on the pre-release reports of the movie, it is expected that the reception will more or less be on the positive side. The hope is for the movie to see exponential growth on Saturday after a lukewarm start of Rs 10-11 crore net that the movie is gearing to take. It is too ambitious to call but if the movie manages to double its opening day, it will be on course to register a solid lifetime total, for a drama based movie. A Rs 10-11 crore start would make Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan's lowest film opener in over 15 years. This starts to look worse if we account for inflation. Even Laal Singh Chaddha opened better despite going head-to-head with Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan. The expected low opening of Sitaare Zameen Par is the reason the growth that comes on Saturday is more crucial than the opening day itself. The credibility of Aamir Khan will be put to test yet again. After his last couple of misfires, the hopes on Sitaare Zameen Par, despite the tepid opening that it is expected to take, are high. If the concept of the movie bodes well with the moviegoers, it will do well theatrically. Expecting a response like Dangal is not justified considering how drama movies are performing post-pandemic. However, what makes box office exciting are its surprises and Sitaare Zameen Par can well be one of the few that we get to see this year. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Sitaare Zameen Par.

Aamir Khan slams trolls questioning his patriotism: 'My film Sarfarosh was the first to take Pakistan's name without hesitation, we got...'

Aamir Khan is gearing up for the release of his film 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. Meanwhile, many people have accused Aamir, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan for being silent regarding the recent ' Operation Sindoor ' and the Pahalgam terrorist Attack. Many have also questioned their patriotism. In a recent interview, Aamir has opened up on these allegations and also given a befitting reply to those questioning his love for the country. The actor revealed that he was the first to use the name of Pakistan in his film 'Sarfarosh' and it wasn't even allowed that time. They had to take permission for it and he got a lot of negativity from Pakistan for the same. The actor opened up about it during a chat with Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat. He said, "If you pick India's film history, we have never been allowed to take their name, we had to use the term 'padosi mulk'. My film Sarfarosh was the first one ever in history, in which we have taken Pakistan and ISI's names without hesitation. John (Director John Matthew Matthan) said that the Censor Board won't pass this. I said, 'Why won't they? We will explain it to them'. When LK Advani ji can call their name in the Parliament publicly that they are doing wrong by us and spreading terrorism, then why can't we?' Aamir further revealed that they got special permission to use the name in the film. 'We got permission to use the names on that basis. So many films released after that were using Pakistan's name. People say that I don't say anything against them, but sabse bada naam toh unka maine hi liya hai, aur kisi ne nahi. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 10 pensionsmisstag att undvika efter 50 Fisher Invest. Norden Undo After Sarfarosh, I got many negative comments from Pakistan for attacking them in the film,' he added. The '3 Idiots' actor also said that he took a stand for the country and didn't allow the release of 'Dangal' in Pakistan. He elaborated, "Dangal released, Disney was one of the producers. When they presented it, they got a reaction from Pakistan's censor board to remove the last scene – where they hoist the tricolour and sing the national anthem after Geeta Phogat's victory in the match. I told them within a second that our film won't be released in Pakistan. I didn't even think twice. They said that it will affect our business and cause losses. I told them I have no interest in people who are asking to remove the Indian flag and national anthem, I don't want that business or money." Apart from Pakistan, Aamir was also questioned about China and was asked that most of his movies have made money from China. He said, "I have earned the most from India only. In China, two of my films worked a lot – Secret Superstar and Dangal. They love my films a lot. When these films released, we didn't have any enemity with China, there was actually friendship." He also opened up about recently receiving an award in China and said, 'They didn't call me 'National treasure of China', you should take note that they awarded me as 'National treasure of India'. Yes, they are out enemies right now. Jo Jo humaare khilaaf hoga, lekin main humesha humaare armed forces and desh ki saath hi khada rahunga.' Furthermore, the actor opened up on visiting soldiers in Kargil and spending eight days there. "I have gone there. When the Kargil war happened and we won, I spent eight days there. I landed in Leh and I was on that road which leads to Srinagar, for those eight days. I met every regiment there – SM rifle, Rajputana rifle, Ladakh scout, and many more. I only met jawans, went to encourage them. Aapne humaare liye yudh jeeta hai, hifaasat ki hai, main aapko pranaam karta hun, main aapka shukraguzaar hun. I don't think anyone else went there," said the actor. He said he lived in a bunker near the border and even ate with the soldiers. "I made a request to the army's high command to spend these eight days with jawans, not with officers specifically. I wanted to encourage them but after spending so many days, I realised that our Indian soldiers don't even need to motivation. They are living and working in such a difficult terrain but their confidence and strength is of another level. They have a bright smile on their faces. They ended up boosting my morale, instead of vice versa.' Aamir clarified that he's not boasting about himself. He said, "I ate with them and asked about their lives. I even spent one of the nights in a bunker at the border. There were around 6-8 soldiers there with me. I don't think anyone else has done this. I am only answering this because you asked, otherwise I don't feel good about advertising whatever good deeds I have done. I don't have this nature, I live my own life."
