Lowestoft goalie knocked unconscious thanks club and medics
A goalkeeper who was knocked unconscious during a non-league football match has thanked his club and everyone else involved in the care he received. Warren Burwood was in goal for Lowestoft Town at AFC Telford United's ground in Wellington, Shropshire, when he clashed with an opposing player at about 15:30 BST on Friday. Play was suspended in the Southern League Premier Central match for more than an hour as the player could not be moved.Posting his thanks on X, Burwood gave a "special shout out" to Telford's goalkeeper, Brandon Hall, who had visited him in hospital.
Two ambulances were called to Telford's Seah stadium, where crews administered treatment to the player behind medical screens erected by club staff.He was moved from the pitch more than an hour after suffering his injury.The player posted that support and kind messages he had received were "greatly appreciated"."Special thanks to both physio teams and club doctor," he said. Medical staff and volunteers who dealt with the situation did so in an "excellent manner," said AFC Telford. The game eventually ended just after 18:15, with Telford winning 7-1.

Robbie, 10, makes Guernsey gymnastics history with medal
A young squad has landed its first ever national medal for Tumbling Squad sent its largest ever team to the English Gymnastics Championships in Telford last week where 10-year-old Robbie won a bronze Bobby Montague said he was "really proud to see how far they've come as a squad and as individuals".Robbie is set to compete in the second qualifier for the British Gymnastics Championships later in June. Robbie said it had been "very nerve-wracking" to show his somersaults in Telford but that he "loves how it's really fun".He explained he had used a new combination of tumbles in the competition which included whips, flicks and a full twist and straight back said: "I was very pleased because because there were some very challenging people in my category."It was very exciting because when I started I didn't really know much about it and three and a half years later I won a bronze medal at the English Gymnastics Championships!"Mr Montague said it had been the first time a gymnast from the squad had competed in the elite said two of the members of the team, Rosie and Myra had been ranked 11th in the country and Mason had been ranked said his dream was to compete in the World Gymnastic Championships."Even if I came last, to get to that level would be amazing," he added.

Plans for new Telford leisure centre to go on show
Plans for a new leisure centre which will include a five-lane swimming pool are set to go on display. Telford and Wrekin Council said the centre would be built at the Telford Langley School in Dawley, an area it said had "the highest level of unmet demand for swimming provision".The centre was subject to planning approval and if granted, the authority hoped to have it built by early 2027. The plans will go on display on will be named after the first man to swim the channel, Captain Matthew Webb, who came from the Dawley area. The council said the name was fitting as this year marked the 150th anniversary of that plans will be revealed at a consultation event at Telford Langley School between 15:00 and 19:00 on Friday. Newport: Six teenagers take on charity bike ride in memory of friend
Six teenage boys are planning to ride from Telford to Liverpool in memory of a friend who took his own all attended Haberdashers Adams in Newport, Shropshire, along with Max Turton, who died last August, aged 100-mile (161 km) ride will start on Friday from AFC Telford United's stadium and finish at Anfield stadium, the home of Max's favourite club, Premier League champions Dillon, Ewan, Sonny, Arwinder and Ollie also plan to raise money for the suicide-prevention charity Papyrus. The boys, who now attend sixth form colleges in the region, plan to cycle 60 miles on Friday and then stay at a hotel in Northwich, before completing the remaining 40 miles on said Max was a "joy to everybody around him" and who was dedicated "to making every single person that he knew smile".He said they spent "so many hours laughing together".Dillon described him as "a caring, hard-working, funny and most of all a truly loving person".The ride to Anfield was chosen because Max was "the biggest Liverpool fan going", Ollie have already raised almost £4,000 for the cycle ride, and he said the charity, Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide, which has been supported by Max's parents, was "the perfect charity to donate to".He said the challenge would be tough physically but also very emotional, and he hoped they would find motivation from "knowing exactly why we're doing it and who we're doing it for".
