It's been a tumultuous 24 hours on the Right, both in the UK and in the US.
Firstly, Reform chairman Zia Yusuf resigned from the party yesterday evening, claiming that 'working to get a Reform government elected' was not 'a good use of my time'.
Then, Donald Trump and Elon Musk's row deepened further, with Musk calling for the president to be impeached and claiming that Trump was was 'named in the Epstein files'. Trump for his part said Musk was 'wearing thin' and had 'lost his mind'.
Former Conservative blogger turned Reform activist Tim Montgomerie joins Camilla and Gordon to reflect on Yusuf's departure, plus they speak to one of Reform's most recent defectors from Labour, Scottish local councillor Jamie McGuire, about the party's results in the Hamilton by-election where it came third behind Labour and the SNP.

Fox Host Says Trump Is ‘Furious' With Elon Behind the Scenes
President Donald Trump is reportedly seething over Elon Musk's public trashing of his 'Big Beautiful Bill' but knows it's better to keep his mouth shut on the subject for now. The former 'First Buddy' dramatically turned on the president in an unhinged late-night posting spree on Tuesday, labelling his spending plans a 'disgusting abomination' which would 'burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.' Reacting to the meltdown on Wednesday morning's Fox & Friends, host Brian Kilmeade said: 'I think the Elon Musk thing really caught the president by surprise. And I hear he is furious!' The Fox host frequently has the ear of the president, and his response is a solid indicator of how Trump may respond to Musk's betrayal over the coming days. 'I think he's so smart to keep his powder dry,' Kilmeade added. 'Because it just plays into what critics would have to say, 'The right can't get out of their own way.' 'Instead, you have a goal: Pass it. Elon Musk is not in the Senate or the House. Don't worry about it.' Kilmeade's co-host Lawrence Jones attempted to spin Musk's criticism by suggesting he was still on the president's side, despite his blistering criticisms on Tuesday night. 'I don't think Elon is anti-MAGA now, or anti-the president now,' Jones said. 'He worked so hard, put a lot of stuff on the line to get a lot wasteful stuff cut, and it doesn't sound like Congress is showing that same willingness.' Ainsley Earhardt responded by saying: 'I thought Elon was very respectful in some of the original interviews, saying 'look, we have differences and I don't agree with him on everything.' 'But this latest comment about calling the big, beautiful bill a disgusting abomination, I was shocked to hear him say that I can understand why the president would not be happy about that—this is someone who worked on his team.' Musk's comments have garnered a mixed reception amongst conservative circles. Speaker Mike Johnson rebuked the billionaire and said his comments were 'terribly wrong,' while Sen. Eric Schmitt said: 'We need spending reductions, no doubt. But we're going to work through it.' The former DOGE chief found himself an ally in Rand Paul however, with the Kentucky senator tweeting: 'I agree with Elon. We have both seen the massive waste in government spending and we know another $5 trillion in debt is a huge mistake. We can and must do better.'

Trump Issues Jaw-Dropping Authoritarian Threat to Elon Musk
As President Donald Trump works through the seven stages of grief that come with a big break-up, he's embracing anger—and directing at it his former ally Elon Musk. After two days of snapping at each other online, a historic public feud that pitted two of the world's most powerful men against each other, Trump decided to turn up the heat Saturday. Speaking with NBC News' Kristen Welker, he promised 'serious consequences' if Tesla billionaire Musk were to fund Democratic candidates in attempts to sabotage Trump's 'big, beautiful bill.' The threat came after Musk begged Congress to vote down the legislation, which is estimated to add some $2.4 trillion to the federal deficit, calling it 'ugly' and 'pork filled.' 'If he does, he'll have to pay the consequences for that,' Trump told NBC News in a phone interview. 'He'll have to pay very serious consequences.' Musk, the world's richest man, claimed Thursday that he was the reason for Trump's re-election, having donating $288 million to his presidential campaign. He called the president out for 'such ingratitude.' The intense clash escalated so much that the former 'First Buddy' dropped a bombshell alleging that Trump 'is in the Epstein files.' He has since scrubbed the post from his page, although it originally told readers: 'Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.' (Trump dismissed the allegations about his connection with the now-deceased Jeffrey Epstein. 'That's called 'old news,' that's been old news, that has been talked about for years,' Trump said on Saturday. 'Even Epstein's lawyer said I had nothing to do with it. It's old news.') But while Musk's move to delete the post could be a sign that he'd consider backing off, Trump has decided instead to launch a new assault. Trump told NBC that he had no desire to repair his relationship with Musk. 'I'm too busy doing other things,' he said, adding, 'I have no intention of speaking to him.' And when asked if the four-month bromance was completely over, a sullen Trump said: 'I would assume so, yeah.' Trump had previously suggested that his once-close adviser had developed 'Trump Derangement Syndrome.' 'I'm very disappointed with Elon. I've helped him a lot,' he said at the time. 'He knew the inner workings of the bill better than anybody sitting here. He had no problem with it.' On Saturday Trump told NBC that Musk was 'disrespectful to the office of the President.' 'I think it's a very bad thing, because he's very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the President,' he added. Trump's ominous suggestion of 'serious consequences' isn't the first threat he's launched against Musk. On Thursday he warned that he was contemplating cutting the SpaceX CEO's government contracts. 'The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,' he posted on Truth Social. 'I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it!' On Saturday, he said that the move was still on the table: 'I'd be allowed to do that,' he said, 'but I have, I haven't given it any thought.' Trump also suggested that it was Musk who was reeling from the toxic breakup. 'I think Elon, really, I think it's a shame that he's so depressed and so heartbroken,' he said.

Protesters and immigration authorities face off for a second day in LA area after arrests
Tear gas and smoke filled the air on the southern outskirts of Los Angeles on Saturday as confrontations between immigration authorities and demonstrators extended into a second day, and President Trump warned that the federal government may 'step in and solve the problem.' Gov. Gavin Newsom said the federal government was 'moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers' and warned that it would only escalate tensions. Additional details were not immediately available. 'This is the wrong mission and will erode public trust,' Newsom said. deployment. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem posted a message on social media addressing 'LA rioters' and warning that interference with immigration enforcement will not be tolerated. 'You will not stop us or slow us down,' Noem said on the X platform. Immigration and Customs Enforcement 'will enforce the law. And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.' Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers executed search warrants at multiple locations Friday, including outside a clothing warehouse in the fashion district. The action came after a judge found probable cause that the employer was using fictitious documents for some of its workers, according to representatives for Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Attorney's Office. A tense scene unfolded outside as a crowd tried to block agents from driving away. Advocates for immigrants' rights said there were also migration detentions outside Home Depot stores and a doughnut shop. DHS said in a statement that recent ICE operations in Los Angeles resulted in the arrest of 118 immigrants, including five people linked to criminal organizations and people with prior criminal histories. Following the Friday arrests, protesters gathered in the evening outside a federal detention center, chanting, 'Set them free, let them stay!' Some held signs with anti-ICE slogans, and some some scrawled graffiti on the building. Among those arrested at the protests was David Huerta, regional president of the Service Employees International Union. Justice Department spokesperson Ciaran McEvoy confirmed that he was being held Saturday at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles ahead of a scheduled Monday court appearance. It was not clear whether Huerta had legal representation. Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for his immediate release. In a social media post, he cited a 'disturbing pattern of arresting and detaining American citizens for exercising their right to free speech.' The immigration arrests come as President Donald Trump and his administration push to fulfill promises of mass deportations across the country. Mayor Karen Bass said the activity was meant to 'sow terror' in the nation's second-largest city. In a statement Saturday, ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons chided Bass for the city's response to the protests. 'Mayor Bass took the side of chaos and lawlessness over law enforcement,' Lyons said.
