KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed hope that the diplomatic ties and friendship between Malaysia and Egypt will continue to grow, particularly in addressing complex global issues through dynamic and thoughtful engagement.
Anwar, who received a courtesy call from Egypt's Ambassador to Malaysia Ragai Tawfik Said Nasr today, noted that bilateral relations have strengthened under the leadership of the MADANI Government.
'This cooperation is particularly evident in areas such as the economy and trade, as well as education, including the establishment of the Arabic Language Institute through a smart partnership between Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Al-Azhar University in Cairo,' he said in a Facebook post.

Higher Education Ministry allocates additional RM2mil to tackle UMS water supply issue

TAWAU: The Higher Education Ministry (KPT) has allocated an additional RM2 million to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) to address ongoing water supply issues affecting the campus community. Its minister, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, said the additional allocation brings the total funding for the matter to RM5 million. He said the government was concerned and had taken note of the issue, with efforts already underway, including the earlier RM3 million allocation announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. "I have been on the ground and personally engaged with the relevant parties, including students. "I was informed that UMS required further assistance, so the ministry has approved an additional RM2 million, making the total allocation RM5 million," he told reporters after officiating the Appointment Certificate Presentation Ceremony for the Community College Advisory Committee (JPENKK) under the Polytechnic and Community College Education Department here today. Commenting further, Zambry said he understood the challenges surrounding water supply in the state. "I've offered advice and suggested that we avoid framing this as a university-specific problem. "This issue has already been addressed by the UMS Vice-Chancellor and the University Board Chairman, who clarified the actual situation. "This means that the issue is not within UMS itself but may stem from technical factors, such as the distribution channels or the volume of water that needs to be channelled through major pipelines to UMS," he said. He expressed hope that the water supply problem could be resolved through cooperation between the state and federal governments. "At the KPT level, we've done what we can to help, including the construction of underground pipes, which are now functioning properly. "I have no intention of commenting on any particular party or being drawn into a polemic. What matters most is the welfare of the students at UMS, which must remain a priority," he added.

MCMC Often Approached For Help And Assists All, No Matter Their Status

KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 (Bernama) -- The Communications Ministry through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), will continue assisting individuals and organisations facing issues related to access or content on their social media accounts. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said that MCMC is committed to helping all affected users regardless of their status by reaching out directly to social media platforms on their behalf. "From time to time, MCMC or even myself will be approached by individuals or organisations that have had their accounts affected," he said. Fahmi was speaking to reporters after attending the Gabungan Kelab Media Malaysia (GKMM) 2025 Dinner held in conjunction with the National Journalists Day (HAWANA) 2025 celebration here tonight. Also present were Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, who is also the HAWANA 2025 Project Director, and Bernama's senior management. Fahmi also confirmed that Meta Platforms Inc (Meta) had clarified the status of Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir's Facebook account, which had recently lost all its posts dating back to 2022. 'The account was not hacked, apparently there was no other motive, but Meta has indicated that they are assisting to restore the posts,' he said. Earlier, local media reported that Facebook page of a deputy minister has been sabotaged, resulting in the disappearance of his posts. Akmal Nasrullah was reported that he noticed that all his Facebook posts since the end of 2022 had disappeared.
