Global Ventures Co-Leads $9 Million Pre-Series B Funding for Locad
Locad secured $9 million to expand globally, with a focus on the GCC, as well as enhance its smart logistics system.
Locad, a leading smart digital logistics engine, has raised $9 million in a Pre-Series B funding round to accelerate its international expansion and enhance its AI-driven supply chain solutions. The round was co-led by Dubai-based Global Ventures and existing investor Reefknot Investments. Additional investors include Sumitomo Equity Ventures, Antler Elevate, Febe Ventures and JG Summit.
Locad's latest funding will propel its global expansion, starting with key markets in the GCC, particularly the UAE and Saudi Arabia, in Q4 2024. The company is positioning itself to support consumer brands in scaling their operations through its cloud-based supply chain-as-a-service platform.
'We are excited to support consumer brands globally by optimizing their supply chains and enhancing their customer experiences with faster, more reliable delivery,' said Shrey Jain, Co-Founder and CTO of Locad.
Locad's smart logistics platform integrates supply chain functions into a single system, offering consumer brands real-time visibility, analytics and workflow automation. This provides seamless coordination between multiple sales channels in e-commerce and retail, enabling brands to streamline inventory management and enhance customer experiences. Locad's Control Tower orchestration platform empowers businesses with comprehensive insights to improve supply chain operations.
To further drive its GCC expansion, Locad has appointed Dario La Torre as Regional Director for the GCC. La Torre brings experience in cross-border e-commerce and logistics, having worked at major companies such as Alibaba, Jumia, and Zalora.
The company's expansion into the GCC is set to establish a network of four regional fulfillment centers and provide a robust shipping engine optimized for local carriers. Additionally, it will integrate with major regional sales channels to offer smooth, localized e-commerce solutions. For international brands entering the GCC, Locad offers in-country fulfillment and shipping, helping them scale their presence in one of the most dynamic e-commerce markets.
Locad's platform integrates with leading e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Amazon and Zid, allowing brands to optimize inventory and streamline their delivery management. The company's localized fulfillment model, which places inventory closer to demand, reduces delivery times and costs, making it an attractive partner for brands looking to expand globally.

UAE-Based Yango Group to Open Flagship Data Centre Hub in Serbia

The move will ensure more reliable, low-latency service delivery across global markets. Jun 16, 2025 Dubai-headquartered Yango Group has signed a memorandum of understanding to host its servers at Serbia's state-run data centre in Kragujevac. The facility, designed to meet TIER 4 standards and equipped with ISO/IEC 27001 and PCI DSS certifications, will serve as Yango's primary infrastructure hub for its global technology ecosystem. Under a colocation model, Yango will operate within a single-tenant environment to better control latency and performance—especially during peak loads—by avoiding shared public-cloud variability. Serbia was chosen for its central location, energy cost efficiency, and favorable cooling conditions—key elements that support robust data centre operations. The Kragujevac centre will reinforce Yango's services across more than 30 countries. Since its founding in 2018, Yango has built a diverse tech portfolio including ride-hailing, maps, delivery, entertainment, adtech, AI assistants, robotics, and autonomous services. By anchoring infrastructure in Serbia, Yango is doubling down on a self-reliant, scalable strategy aimed at improving service quality, transparency, and regulatory readiness in the MENA, Latin America, Africa, and European regions.

AED 128B Al Maktoum Project Fuels Real Estate Boom in Dubai South - Middle East Business News and Information

Betterhomes has released new analysis highlighting the impact of the AED 128 billion ($35 billion) expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport on Dubai South, with major implications for real estate, logistics, and the wider UAE economy. Investor interest in Dubai South is accelerating, driven by competitive pricing, strong rental yields, and ongoing infrastructure development. Property transactions in the area have already exceeded AED 15 billion in the first five months of 2025. 'The development of Al Maktoum Airport is not just a milestone in aviation, but a catalyst for the next chapter of Dubai's real estate growth,' said Louis Harding, CEO of Betterhomes. 'We're already seeing the ripple effects in Dubai South. This is the early stage of a long-term growth cycle, and Betterhomes is well-positioned to guide both investors and end-users through it.' Rental rates have risen 20% year-to-date, with a sharp increase in both off-plan and ready property sales. Betterhomes has also recorded over 20% monthly growth in buyer and tenant inquiries, while institutional capital is entering the market, most notably a $1 billion investment partnership between a major Abu Dhabi-based asset manager and Brookfield. Property prices in Dubai South are forecast to rise by 15–20% in the near term. Infrastructure enhancements, including the Dubai Metro Blue Line and Etihad Rail, will further strengthen demand, and a recent AED 1 billion contract award for the airport's second runway signals continued momentum. Average prices in surrounding areas remain up to 60% lower than in prime districts like Downtown Dubai, offering attractive value. A similar growth pattern was seen following the launch of Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport in 2005, when surrounding areas such as Dubai Marina and Al Barsha experienced substantial appreciation. Between the launch and early 2008, average sale prices had nearly doubled. With demand surging and a long-term development pipeline in motion, Dubai South is emerging as one of the UAE's most promising real estate growth corridors.
