Watford youngster claims an assist on his England debut
Amin Nabizada claimed an assist on his debut for England Under-18's as they beat Morocco 3-1 on Sunday.
The Watford forward had missed a chance to make his Three Lions bow earlier in the season when he was selected but had to withdraw due to injury.
However, he was back to fitness and started the first of two games against Morocco at the national football centre, Complexe Mohammed VI de Football in Salé.
And a memorable day for Nabizada got even better when he set up England's third goal.
Fellow debutant Wes Okoduwa of Wolves beat three opposition players with some excellent wing play before releasing Nabizada.
The Watford youngster's first-time cross was met by Liverpool's Josh Sonni-Lambie who finished superbly.
The Young Lions had taken the lead after only six minutes through Crystal Palace striker Jesse Derry.
A flowing move down the right-hand side ended with Derry finding the back of the net with a tidy finish from the edge of the six-yard box after meeting a cross from Manchester City full-back Kian Noble.
Liam Bramley's side doubled their lead with 41 minutes on the clock.
Derry was on target once again, this time linking up with Reading's Andre Garcia, whose cross from the by-line picked out the forward in the right place at the right time to make it 2-0.
The hosts grabbed a consolation late in the day – a deflection leaving England keeper Oliver Whatmuff of Manchester City with no chance of making a save – as it finished 3-1.
The Young Lions will wrap up their season with a second match-up against Morocco tomorrow (Wednesday, 6pm UK time) when England look to make it two wins from as many outings in the international window.
For Nabizada it caps off an excellent season which saw him make his first-team debut as a substitute at Fulham in the FA Cup in January, quickly followed by a league debut off the bench against Leeds the following month.
A regular scorer for the Under-18s, Nabizada helped them reach the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup as well as the Premier Development League South Play-Off Final.

Michigan State athletic director J Batt says he's leading a top-10 department in college sports
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — J Batt said Michigan State has a top-10 athletic department in the country. The school's next athletic director made it clear that the football program must lead the way to make his statement ring true. The Spartans have been shaky in recent years in the sport that pays the bills in college athletics, losing seven games last year in coach Jonathan Smith's debut season. 'It comes down to resources and across the board, we will provide him and his staff with resources,' Batt said Wednesday when he was formally introduced. Batt left Georgia Tech, where he was its athletic director since the fall of 2022, to take on the challenge of raising money and turning around a football program in the highly competitive Big Ten. The university's Board of Trustees, which approved the selection, is scheduled to vote on Batt's hiring on June 13 and his first day on the job is June 16. Batt replaces Alan Haller, whose last day was May 11. Batt helped Georgia Tech bounce back in football. He hired coach Brent Key, who led the program to consecutive bowl games for the first time in a decade and earned a spot in The Associated Press Top 25 for the first time in nine years. In Batt's first season at Georgia Tech, 14 of 17 teams were in a postseason tournament. Before leading Georgia Tech's athletic department, he was executive deputy athletic director at Alabama and served as chief operating officer and chief revenue officer in the athletic department. Izzo reached out to his friend, former Alabama and Michigan State coach Nick Saban, as part of the school's search. 'Nick had great comments about him,' Izzo said. Batt recalled Saban speaking so fondly about Michigan State. 'He's always been so positive about this place,' Batt said. Batt also worked in athletics at East Carolina, Maryland, James Madison, William & Mary and North Carolina, where he played on the 2011 national championship soccer team. Batt is regarded as a strong fundraiser, an asset for any athletic department in this era of college athletics. At Michigan State, his top priorities will be to raise money and help the football program win. Universities will be allowed to share up to $20.5 million in revenue with athletes next year. Direct payments will be in addition to third-party name, image and likeness deals facilitated by school-affiliated collectives. Chelsea complete Liam Delap transfer on six-year deal
Chelsea have completed the signing of striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. The Athletic reported on May 29 that the two clubs had reached an agreement for the transfer of the 22-year-old with the England Under-21 international now signing a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge. Delap makes the switch after a £30million ($40m) release clause in his Ipswich contract became active following the team's relegation from the Premier League. Advertisement Chelsea will pay £20m of the fee up front. Ipswich also hold a sell-on clause as part of the deal. Manchester United, Newcastle United, Everton, Nottingham Forest, AC Milan and Juventus had been interested but sources at those teams — speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships — were later informed the forward was heading elsewhere. Delap had a breakthrough season in 2024-25, scoring 12 goals in the league despite Ipswich struggling and finishing 19th. He made 40 appearances for the club in his sole season at Portman Road. After spending much of his youth career with Derby County, Delap joined Manchester City's academy in 2019. He only made six appearances for the first team and had loan spells at Championship sides Stoke City, Preston North End and Hull City before joining Ipswich in July 2024 for an initial £15m ($19.2m). Delap has been capped 12 times by England's under-21 side. His father, former Stoke and Southampton midfielder Rory Delap, was capped 11 times by the Republic of Ireland. Analysis by Dan Sheldon Given the number of clubs targeting Delap, this is a coup for Chelsea — no doubt aided by the fact they will be participating in next season's Champions League — and follows on from the celebrations of their UEFA Conference League triumph on Wednesday night.
