Abu Dhabi officially begins robotaxi tests

ALBAWABA – Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is now officially testing driverless robotaxis around the city. Developed by WeRide, the initiative plans to expand its official driving routes to include new coverage areas. WeRide robotaxi service now available in Abu Dhabi
WeRide, a leading commercial-stage global company developing autonomous driving technologies from Level 2 to Level 4, has officially launched driverless robotaxi tests in Abu Dhabi. Residents and visitors will be able to experience driverless taxi tours across various areas, including Al Maryah Island and Al Reem Island.
The service, the first of its kind in the Middle East, has started in a few areas and will expand to cover the entire city after obtaining regulatory approval.

'In parallel, we are expanding commercial service to high-demand areas like Al Maryah and Al Reem Islands – bringing smart mobility solutions to more users in the Middle East. Together, these demonstrate our technological maturity while moving us closer to mass commercialisation of Robotaxis,' stated Jennifer Li, CFO and Head of International Business at WeRide.
