Shimla, May 1 (PTI) State Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Thursday urged the Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan for speedy approval of 637 habitations, which haven't been included in Phase 4 of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) due to pending verification.
Singh, who called on Paswan in New Delhi, informed him that 57 per cent of roads in the state have been constructed under PMGSY and added that despite spending 250 crores yearly on maintenance of these roads, the state was in need of funds, keeping in view the tough terrain, a statement issued here said.

The Minister also inaugurated 300 Centres of Excellence (CoE) and flagged off Garuda Aerospace's DGCA-approved Train the Trainer (TTT) programme. Paswan lauded Garuda Aerospace for its visionary efforts in making India self-reliant in drone technology. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji's vision of transforming India into a global drone hub can truly be realised through the dedication of young entrepreneurs,' said Paswan. He also lauded the Bharat Drone Association for uniting local component manufacturers under one roof at the indigenisation factory, a state-of-the-art facility capable of manufacturing over 1 lakh drones in the next two years. 'This will be the first visit of an Indian prime minister to Cyprus in over two decades,' the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement. While in Cyprus capital Nicosia, the prime minister will hold talks with President Christodoulides and address business leaders in Limassol, it said. 'The visit will reaffirm the shared commitment of the two countries to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen India's engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union,' the statement said. In the second leg of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Kananaskis in Canada on June 16-17 to participate in the G-7 Summit at the invitation of Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney. This would be prime minister's sixth consecutive participation in the G-7 Summit.
