Lynn man pleads guilty in connection with a 2024 bank robbery

A Lynn man has pleaded guilty in connection with an October 2024 bank robbery.
40-year-old Cesar Rivera pleaded guilty to:
Making a bomb threat
Larceny in an amount exceeding $1,200
Intimidation to steal from a depository of money
On October 26, 2024, Lynn police responded to Eastern Bank on 112 Market Street following a 911 call for reports of a robbery.
Officers were told that Rivera had passed a note to the bank teller making a bomb threat and demanding cash. Shortly after, Rivera fled the bank on foot before fleeing in a taxi.
Detectives were able to identify Rivera and locate him in the taxi during a traffic stop in Lynn's Curwin Circle.
Officers arrested Rivera and recovered $17,000 in cash.
Rivera is facing three to five years in state prison, followed by three years of probation.

Police said the incidents happened on the following dates and locations: 4300 block of West Washington Boulevard on June 5, at 12:25 p.m. 4400 block of West Monroe Street on June 5, at 4:10 p.m. 0-100 block of South Kilbourn Avenue on June 5, around 4:11 p.m. 4600 block of West Maypole Avenue on June 8, at 5:26 p.m. 4100 block of West Gladys Avenue on June 10, at 11:45 a.m. 4200 block of West Monroe Street on June 10, at 12 p.m. 4000 block of West Wilcox Street on June 10, at 12:25 p.m. The suspect was described as an African American male between 16 and 25 years old, standing between 5-foot-7 and 6-foot-1, 140-150 pounds, with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt with a white design on the back, black pants, white/black gym shoes, and a black surgical mask. One person is dead after being hit by a car late on Wednesday night on McKnight Road. According to the Ross Police Department, just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, a car was driving north on McKnight Road in the left lane and while approaching the McKnight Hotel, the driver saw a female in the lane, but was unable to avoid them, and hit them. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, and now police are working with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office to identify her. The driver showed no signs of driving under the influence. Now, the Ross Police Crash Reconstruction team and detectives are investigating the crash.

Teen charged with attempted murder in shooting of family member in Gurnee

A teenager was charged with attempted murder in shooting that left a family member injured in north suburban Gurnee on Wednesday. Lake County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 34000 block of Route 21 around 8:35 p.m. and found a 61-year-old man who had been shot in the face. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Lake County investigators determined the victim was inside his bedroom, on the his phone, when he was shot by the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Francis Lodesky. Lake County officials confirmed the victim is a family member of the alleged shooter. Lodesky has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. He is being held at the Lake County Jail. "Based on information gathered thus far, the shooting appears to be unprovoked and Lodesky had the desire to kill someone," the Lake County Sheriff's Office said. Lodesky is expected to appear in court for a hearing on Thursday morning.
