Can anyone stop the world champions winning a European crown?
Spain are in Group B along with neighbours Portugal, Belgium and two-time runners-up Italy.
After defeating England in the 2023 World Cup final, Spain - the highest ranked team at the tournament - are clear favourites to win Euro 2025.

But Belgium, Italy and Portugal have taken big steps forward during the last couple of years and will be keen to make a statement against the world champions.

Belgium

Form: Belgium won just one of their qualifying games but they comfortably made it through the play-offs with big wins over Greece and Ukraine.
The Red Flames finished third in their Women's Nations League group, which also contained Spain and Portugal. They ended a three-game losing run with an impressive victory over England in April before falling to a heavy 5-1 defeat by Spain in the last international window. However, they ended the campaign with a 3-0 win over Portugal.

Tournament hopes: It's a new era for Belgium. After more than 14 years in charge, long-time boss Ives Serneels was replaced by Icelander Elisabet Gunnarsdottir in January - just seven months before the start of Euros.
During her short reign so far, Belgium have beaten England and pushed Spain close but their success in Switzerland seems to depend heavily on striker Tessa Wullaert, who has shown she can trouble any team's defence.
Italy

Form: Italy may have only won two games in qualifying but they still managed to pip former European champions Netherlands and Norway to the top of their group.

With wins against Wales and Denmark in the Nations League, and a draw against Sweden, they head into the Euros on a good run of form.
Tournament hopes: Italy could be the dark horses of Euro 2025. After failing to advance past the group stage at the last World Cup and Euros, Italy have changed managers, with Andre Soncin taking charge and leading their resurgence.
Since then, the Azurre have defeated top-10 sides Spain, Germany and the Netherlands. However, unable to string a run of two or more wins together, they have struggled for consistency.
Portugal

Form: After earning a place in the Euro 2025 play-offs by winning five of their six qualifying games, Portugal booked their ticket to Switzerland with wins over Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in the play-offs.

Since then they've held reigning European champions England to a 1-1 draw in the Nations League but the Lionesses hit six past them earlier this month and they also lost to Belgium.
Tournament hopes: In their three previous major tournament appearances, Portugal have never made it past the group stage.
However, they have shown they can compete with the world's best on the biggest stage after holding the USA to a goalless draw at the 2023 World Cup.
Francisco Neto's side are boosted by the return of Jessica Silva after the winger recovered from a serious eye injury and Barcelona forward Kika Nazareth, but it is unclear how fit the latter is after she was ruled out for four months in mid-March following ankle surgery.
Spain

Form: Spain sailed through qualifying by topping their group although they did fall to a surprise defeat by the Czech Republic.
They were beaten by Germany and Brazil at the Olympic Games last summer but since then, a narrow 1-0 defeat by England in the Nations League has been their only loss in their last 10 games.
Tournament hopes: Spain are the nailed-on favourites to win the tournament but there are question marks over whether Montse Tome can deliver a major trophy.
The former Spain international, who is in her first head coach role, replaced Jorge Vilda amid the sexism scandal involving the then Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales.

However, Tome has many world-class players at her disposal in Ballon d'Or winners Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati, along with rising stars including Salma Paralluelo and Vicky Lopez.

Recovered from knee surgery, Canada captain Sophie de Goede leads a 32-player tour squad to South Africa for a two-game series with the Springboks women next month. Olivier Giroud departing LAFC after less than a year in Major League Soccer, likely returning to France
'I want to thank all of the fans, my teammates and the staff at LAFC for making this an enjoyable stop in my career,' Giroud said in a statement. 'I am happy to have played a part in the success of LAFC. From winning a trophy last season to participating in the Club World Cup, this has been a great experience in LA for me and my family.' Advertisement Giroud joined LAFC in July 2024 as a designated player after a long European career highlighted by prolific tenures with Arsenal and Chelsea. The top goal-scorer in the history of France's national team was expected to provide dynamic offense alongside MLS stars and fellow Frenchmen Denis Bouanga and Hugo Lloris. Instead, Giroud clearly struggled to adapt to the MLS game and to LAFC's counter-attacking style under coach Steve Cherundolo. LAFC also failed to figure out ways to involve Giroud in the offense consistently, unable to provide service to one of the sport's most dangerous finishers earlier in his career. Giroud usually played as a substitute for LAFC, and he didn't score his first MLS goal until last April 19. He did find the net in big moments, scoring in the US Open Cup final last season and in the Leagues Cup final. LAFC (7-4-5) still sits sixth in the Western Conference standings with two or three games in hand on every club above it, and it has an infusion of cash from beating América in a play-in match to reach the Club World Cup.

Cooper Flagg looks comfortable in new home as No. 1 pick gets introduced in Dallas
Associated Press DALLAS (AP) — Cooper Flagg didn't wait for Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison to break the silence with an opening statement as the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft was introduced to a packed Dallas news conference. 'Hello,' Flagg said about the time the clock struck noon Friday. The 18-year-old former Duke star only grew more comfortable from there, two days after walking across the stage in Brooklyn to be greeted by Commissioner Adam Silver. Flagg was deferential to the history of European stars Dirk Nowitzki and Luka Doncic — the latter being the generational talent traded in February, before the Mavs magically landed the potential of their next face of the franchise despite just a 1.8% chance to win the draft lottery. The Associated Press men's college player of the year quickly declared his love for Mexican food and barbecue — the same question all the Texas newcomers get — and easily rattled off Mount Rushmores for the NBA, and the WNBA. For those wondering, Flagg's NBA picks were Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, and he appropriately skipped the last names of the last two. The WNBA choices were Candace Parker, Brittney Griner, A'ja Wilson and, after a brief pause to think, Caitlin Clark, 'because she's changed the game so much.' Of course, Flagg is about to join quite a collection of names in Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson, all three with NBA titles on their resumes. Although fellow Duke alum Irving won't join Flagg on the court until possibly January as the nine-time All-Star recovers from a torn ACL, the Mavs are expecting a return to the playoffs after falling short in 2025, a year after Irving and Doncic led Dallas to the NBA Finals, where the Mavs lost to Boston in five games. Throw in third-year player Dereck Lively II — another ex-Duke player, and one who visited Flagg going into his only season with the Blue Devils last fall — and there are plenty of reasons to believe Flagg gets a softer landing than many top picks who end up in rebuilding situations. 'He's very lucky to have veterans, future Hall of Famers,' said coach Jason Kidd, a Hall of Fame point guard who was the second overall choice by the Mavericks 31 years ago. 'When you talk about Kai and Klay and then AD, just understanding the vets are going to protect him and help him, and they're going to push him.' Flagg flew to Dallas with Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont and both of their families. Among those at the team's practice facility near American Airlines Center was Mark Cuban, the high-profile former owner who sold a majority stake a year and a half ago to the Las Vegas-based Adelson and Dumont families and is now alternate governor. So was Mark Aguirre, the other No. 1 overall pick by Dallas in 1981. The 65-year-old was just a few seats from Shawn Marion, who played with Nowitzki on the franchise's only championship team in 2011. That row also included Rolando Blackman, a former player who represented the Mavs when they won the draft lottery. It was the first time in franchise history that Dallas had moved up in the lottery. Nearly the entire history of the 45-year-old franchise was represented when Flagg was asked about following Nowitzki, who has a statue outside the arena, and Doncic, whose departure was a heartbreaker for countless Mavs fans who no doubt got a boost with the arrival of the third one-and-done Duke player on the Dallas roster. 'I'm coming in just trying to learn and trying to get better every single day,' Flagg said. 'And I think if I can do that to the best of my ability, I think expectations and pressures that other people will put on me and our team, that will kind of work itself out. So I'm just trying come in and be the best that I can be and just win at the highest level.' The 6-foot-9 Flagg's position is one of the more intriguing questions on the court, and the Mavs will have a void at point guard until Irving returns. 'I want to put him at the point guard,' said Kidd, who sat to Flagg's left on a stage, with Harrison on his right. 'I want to make him uncomfortable and see how he reacts.'
