Rafah crossing to open today: Hebrew media
The "Israeli" Broadcasting Authority, citing Palestinian sources, reported that the Rafah border crossing will open today, Friday, instead of Sunday as initially planned under the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Hebrew news outlet Yedioth Ahronoth, quoting an EU official, said that 'Israel' has inquired about deploying a European mission to help manage the Rafah border crossing as part of efforts to reopen it during the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire.
According to the official, the European force will play a key role in stabilizing the truce, with the plan focused on reopening the crossing to allow civilians to leave, prioritizing the wounded, children, and patients needing medical treatment abroad.
The official added that Palestinian Authority border officers will manage the crossing, while the "Israeli" military will remain stationed around it to ensure security.
The report also noted that the EU plans to deploy up to 100 border officers as part of new security arrangements, underscoring European support for the ceasefire and cooperation between Tel Aviv and the Palestinian Authority.
