United Airlines' and JetBlue's 'Blue Sky' partnership brings loyal flyers reciprocal benefits
Loyal United Airlines and JetBlue flyers have a lot to look forward to with the two carriers' recently announced "Blue Sky" partnership. The new alliance will give United MileagePlus and JetBlue TrueBlue members reciprocal perks when flying — they'll be able to earn and redeem miles on either airline, enjoy status benefits onboard both and buy flights from either carrier's website. United Airlines, whose major Northeast hub is at Newark Liberty International Airport, will also have space at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as early as 2027. While not all of the specifics have been announced yet, here's what we know so far. On May 29, United Airlines and JetBlue announced Blue Sky, a new initiative aimed at providing their frequent flyers with more travel — and credit card rewards earning/redemption — options. The collaboration brings reciprocal benefits to United MileagePlus and JetBlue TrueBlue members, the airlines' loyalty programs, with changes rumored to go into effect as early as this fall. JetBlue has a significant East Coast presence, which means teaming up with United gives its flyers more access across the U.S. Some of United's main hubs include Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Denver International Airport and Houston Intercontinental Airport. United also has a much larger international network that JetBlue flyers can tap into. For United flyers, the alliance with JetBlue opens up their options when flying along the East Coast or to the Caribbean. They can also now add JFK as an alternative for in and out of New York. With the Blue Sky partnership, JetBlue's TrueBlue members will be able to earn and use points for flights across United's global network, including domestic and international flights. United's MileagePlus customers will be provided the same opportunity for "most" JetBlue flights, with further details hopefully coming in the future. The ability to earn and redeem points across airlines is a big perk, especially for travelers who take advantage of transfer partners where available. JetBlue points can be earned by a handful of credit card issuers, with American Express Membership® Rewards, Capital One Miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards® and Citi ThankYou® Rewards all transferring at different ratios. United is a little trickier and only has Chase Ultimate Rewards points and Bilt Rewards Points as transfer partners. This partnership will now likely grant additional ways to indirectly access United's network through transferring points to JetBlue and redeeming via United flights. This could be possible with cards like the American Express® Gold Card or the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, two popular travel cards that you may already have in your wallet. We still need to wait for some more details around pricing and how the exact redemption works, but having more flexibility with your credit card points is always welcome. United will also shift how it provides hotels, rental cars, cruises and vacation booking via its website and mobile apps, moving to services provided by JetBlue's Paisly platform. Cargill to Invest $90 Million in Fort Morgan, Colo. Beef Plant
Move will improve operational efficiencies, increase yields and make facility even safer MINNEAPOLIS, June 05, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cargill announced today it is investing nearly $90 million in automation and new technologies at its Fort Morgan, Colo. beef plant as part of its Factory of the Future initiative. The enhancements, which will take place over the next several years, will help Cargill continue to improve operational efficiencies, increase yields and make the Fort Morgan facility even safer and more inclusive for employees. The company has already invested nearly $24 million in technology upgrades at Fort Morgan since 2021. One of the first and most revolutionary automated solutions to be implemented at the Fort Morgan plant will be CarVe, Cargill's proprietary, patent-pending computer vision technology. CarVe measures red meat yield in real time, giving frontline managers instant insights and the ability to share feedback with employees to improve their cutting technique. CarVe helps keep more protein in the food system that otherwise would be lost in the process. According to the USDA, the U.S. produces more than 27 billion pounds of beef annually. Even a one percent yield improvement can save hundreds of millions of pounds of meat. And with the U.S. cattle supply at its lowest level in years, improving yield matters more than ever. "Before CarVe, yield data was always yesterday's news," said Jarrod Gillig, senior vice president of Cargill's North American Beef business. "Now, we're making decisions in the moment and saving product that would've been lost. By applying smart technology to the problem, we're getting more meat from every animal, reducing waste, and making protein production more efficient and sustainable from start to finish." Gillig noted that Cargill has also invested in the community of Fort Morgan and its people there. To help address a regional housing shortage, the company has backed a $40 million development project for employee housing. This includes 27 townhomes which have already been built and an apartment complex with 81 units set to open in the Fall. And Cargill has provided more than $500,000 in grants to local organizations, including the United Way, to support additional childcare options and other programs that help address the regional housing issue like first-time home buyer classes. "Fort Morgan plays an important part in Cargill's critical role as a food company to the nation and the world," said Gillig. Royals star rookie Jac Caglianone smacks RBI double for first MLB hit with father watching
Kansas City Royals star rookie Jac Caglianone is known for his ability to spray balls all over the baseball field. So when he went 0-for-5 in his major-league debut, nobody panicked. He was just feeling out his first taste of the majors. Well, it didn't take long for Caglianone to adjust, because he picked up his first major-league hit Thursday. Caglianone struck in the top of the fourth inning. With Royals catcher Salvador Perez on second, Caglianone smacked an RBI single down the first-base line to extend the Royals' lead. Advertisement The ball came off Caglianone's bat at 91.4 mph, a strong figure, but nowhere near the eye-popping exit velocities Caglianone put up in the minors. Caglianone's family, including his father, cheered and clapped in the stands following the hit. The St. Louis Cardinals made sure the ball found its way to the Royals' dugout so the rookie could keep it for the rest of his career. Big things are expected from Caglianone, 22, after he dominated in the minors. Despite being drafted in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, Caglianone forced his way through the team's system quickly. The Royals promoted him aggressively, starting him in Double A to begin the 2025 season. He hit .322/.394/.553 at the level before earning a promotion to Triple-A. Advertisement He was even better there, where he hit .319/.370/.723 in just 12 games. That was all the Royals needed to see before bringing him up to the majors. Caglianone immediately found himself in the thick of the Royals' major-league lineup, hitting 6th in his major-league debut. Though he went 0-for-5 in his first game, Caglianone showed off his impressive pop. Four of his batted balls were hit over 95 mph. He had a 113.9 mph groundout in the ninth inning and a 112.1 mph groundout in the fifth inning. While both balls resulted in outs, they were the two hardest-hit balls by any player in the contest.
