(WPHL/NEXSTAR) – Police in Philadelphia are actively investigating an incident reported to have occurred on Sunday night, after a person appeared to fire a gun into the air amid the city's celebrations of the Eagles winning the NFC Championship game.
Video of the alleged incident, shared to X by a user named @Philly_Captain, appeared to show a large crowd gathered at the intersection of Frankford and Cottman Avenues when a person raised a gun into the air and fired off three shots.
Screams were briefly heard in the video, though the crowd did not appear to disperse immediately.
'I believe that was a gun,' one of the spectators can be heard saying, matter-of-factly, after the shots rang out.

Remarking on the incident, several viewers of Philly_Captain's video were confident the gunman would be apprehended. Others were also concerned for the well-being of fans and nearby residents, if indeed the gunman was firing real bullets into the air.
'[He's] so lucky that bullet didn't come back down on someone,' one viewer remarked.
The Philadelphia Police Department confirmed to Nexstar that its Northeast Detective Division is investigating the incident, but no arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
Eagles fans had gathered outside in Philadelphia — and throughout the Delaware Valley — to celebrate their team defeating the Washington Commanders 55-23 at Sunday's NFC Championship game. Elsewhere in the city, revelers were seen setting off fireworks, walking across cars and climbing greased poles.
A driver was also taken into custody on Sunday night after a car hit and injured three pedestrians in a crowd of people leaving the game at around 9:30 p.m., police said. The victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident did not appear intentional, according to police.

Caught on camera: Victims speak out after rash of car thefts in South Jersey

The Brief Police are investigating a series of vehicle thefts in Mt. Laurel. More than half a dozen vehicles were stolen from the Larchmont area of town Tuesday morning. Doorbell video shows cars being stolen. MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - A string of car thefts has police in Mount Laurel looking for a number of suspects who got away with more than a half dozen vehicles overnight and one of the thefts was caught on camera. Caught on camera When Mt. Laurel police officers asked Charese Percell if her doorbell camera captured her neighbor's car theft across the street Tuesday morning she quickly realized she too was a victim. Her video shows a thief getting into her 2020 Acura SUV, start it up and take off right out of her driveway about 2 a.m. Tuesday morning. She says her keys were in her house at the time. "I don't know how they did it. They did it so quick it almost looks like, oh my God, they live at my house," said Percell. The backstory Her SUV is one of more than a half dozen vehicle thefts overnight around the Larchmont neighborhood of Mt. Laurel. In the video you can see one of the crooks getting into Paul Tessein's Mercedes-Benz. They didn't steal the car but did get away with his registration, insurance card and a few bucks in cash. "I'm going to try to get a security system on the house. I just moved in two months ago, and I was trying to do other work to the house, but it will obviously have to be a priority at this point," said Tessein. Police say all of the thefts took place between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. along Banwell Lane, Charing Way, Everly Ct., Mayfair Lane, and Tallowood Lane. Those who live on those streets are wondering why their neighborhood was targeted. What they're saying "Shocked probably the whole township. Probably Burlington County. Because it wasn't just here, it was five to eight cars Moorestown, somewhere else in Mount Laurel it's devastating it's just not normal," said Denise Berg. Percell says she spent most of the day cruising the area looking for her stolen SUV which she says has special meaning. "I had Eagles stickers and decals on the back of my car, so if you see someone riding around with Eagles decals on Acura RBX please, please get my car back," added Percell. What you can do Police continue to ask residents to lock their doors, park in well-lit areas and use a steering wheel lock if you can. If you have information or recognize anyone in the video you are asked to call Mt. Laurel Police 856-234-8300.

Newsom's office compares LA riots against federal agents to sports celebrations

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom's office downplayed the riots gripping Los Angeles, likening them to sports celebrations that notoriously break out in Philadelphia after an Eagles' victory. "LA riots? Have these geniuses ever seen what happens when the Eagles win a playoff game?" Izzy Gardon, Newsom's communications director, told Fox News Digital on Sunday morning. Philadelphia notoriously sees sports revelers flood the city after beloved teams such as the Eagles or Phillies win championships, sometimes setting cars ablaze and causing property damage. The city even greases city light poles to dissuade partiers from scaling them and deploys additional police to the streets while often wearing riot gear. Fox News Digital reached out to the governor's office to ask about claims by California Republicans and natives that Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass bore some of the blame for the riots. They and other local Democrats issued messages defending illegal immigrants and condemning federal agents for carrying out deportation raids in the left-wing city. California Republicans Slam Newsom, Bass For Letting La Burn With Riots Amid Trump Immigration Blitz "Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass have a real habit of letting Los Angeles burn," Republican California Rep. Darell Issa posted to X on Saturday evening. Read On The Fox News App "If only Karen Bass fought against the Los Angeles fires like she fights for illegal aliens," Issa added in another post, referring to the Palisades fire that tore through Southern California in January. Federal Officials Slam Democrats For 'Dangerous' Rhetoric As Ice Agents Face Violent Mobs In La, Nyc "Gavin Newsom is unqualified for a plethora of reasons, the least of which is his support of illegal alien insurrectionists. He is an all purpose, all around loser," Hollywood actor and California resident James Woods posted to X. Federal officials have also pinned blame for the violence on Democratic elected officials who have "villainized and demonized" ICE law enforcement, Fox Digital previously reported. "This is on you, Governor. It is a shame that California openly defies federal law and sides with illegal aliens, including hardened criminals, against its own citizens," Harmeet Dhillon, former vice chair of the California Republican Party and current assistant attorney general for civil rights at the U.S. Department of Justice, posted to X. "The violent targeting of law enforcement in Los Angeles by lawless rioters is despicable and Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom must call for it to end," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote in a statement. "The men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens.… From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is beyond the pale. This violence against ICE must end." Social Media, Trump Admin Erupts Over La Mayor's Reaction To Ice Raids: 'You're A Criminal Too' Newsom on Friday described the Trump administration's immigration raids in Los Angeles as "chaotic and reckless." "Continued chaotic federal sweeps, across California, to meet an arbitrary arrest quota are as reckless as they are cruel. Donald Trump's chaos is eroding trust, tearing families apart, and undermining the workers and industries that power America's economy," Newsom's statement read. The press office doubled down in support of shielding illegal immigrants from deportation in a response X post to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Saturday. "In recent days, violent mobs have attacked ICE Officers and Federal Law Enforcement Agents carrying out basic deportation operations in Los Angeles, California. These operations are essential to halting and reversing the invasion of illegal criminals into the United States. In the wake of this violence, California's feckless Democrat leaders have completely abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens," Leavitt posted to X. Newsom's office responded: "These are anything but basic. Your indiscriminate sweeps are terrifying entire communities and detaining hardworking, tax-paying Californians. It's cruel escalation and must end." When asked about the riots, and California Republicans condemning the violence and Newsom's stance on immigration on Sunday morning, the governor's office compared the lawlessness to street parties after an Eagles win. Patel Promises Fbi Coming For Anyone Assaulting Cops As Los Angeles Erupts Over Ice Raids The riots in Los Angeles, however, have included targeted attacks on federal law enforcement officials, including violent protesters lobbing rocks and other items at immigration officials. U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael W. Banks, for example, shared a photo of a Border Patrol agent's bloody hand that was injured by a rock flying through the windshield. Trump signed a presidential memorandum on Saturday to deploy 2,000 National Guardsmen to Paramount, California, to help quell the violence, and has also slammed the local leaders for the chaos. "If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles, can't do their jobs, which everyone knows they can't, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!"
