OPEN// Russian embassy welcomes President Sisi's visit to Moscow
CAIRO, May 8 (MENA) - The Russian Embassy in Cairo warmly welcomed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's arrival in Moscow to participate in the Victory Day celebrations, following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the embassy described President Sisi as a "longstanding and dear friend" of Russia. It expressed confidence that the joint commemoration of the anniversary of the Great Victory on May 9, alongside scheduled high-level talks, will provide renewed momentum to the Egyptian-Russian partnership.
The statement emphasized that this partnership is rooted in deep mutual respect between the two countries' peoples and the strong, close relationship between their leaders.

Foreign ministry stresses need to comply with Gaza border visit regulations
CAIRO – 11 June 2025: Egypt stressed on Wednesday the necessity of obtaining prior approvals for foreign delegations to conduct visits to the border areas adjacent to Gaza, especially Arish City and Rafah border crossing. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates affirmed that Egypt continues to work at all levels to end the aggression on Gaza and to bring an end to the humanitarian catastrophe impacting more than two million Palestinians. The statement explained that the only acceptable way for Egyptian authorities to consider these requests is by adhering to the regulatory framework and procedures established since the start of the war on Gaza, according to the statement. This includes submitting official requests to Egyptian embassies abroad, or through requests submitted by foreign embassies in Cairo or representatives of organizations to the foreign ministry, it said. Numerous visits have already been arranged for foreign delegations either representing governmental bodies or non-governmental human rights organizations, the ministry said. 'Egypt underlines the importance of adhering to these established regulations to ensure the safety of visiting delegations given the sensitive and volatile nature of the border area since the beginning of the Gaza crisis.' 'In this regard, Egypt reaffirms that no requests will be considered nor any invitations will be responded to if they fall outside the approved regulatory framework and established mechanisms,' the statement said. 'Egypt also underlines the importance that all foreign nationals must comply with Egyptian laws and entry regulations, including obtaining the necessary visas or pre-approved permits. The statement added that Egypt has welcomed the official and popular international and regional stances supporting Palestinian rights and rejecting the blockade, starvation tactics, and systematic and flagrant Israeli violations against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. 'Finally, Egypt reiterates its unwavering stance in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and its rejection of Israel's blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law. 'It further stresses the importance of exerting pressure on Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza and to allow humanitarian access through all Israeli-controlled crossings with the Strip.

Egypt FM, Somalia's National Security Adviser review bilateral ties
CAIRO – 11 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty lauded on Wednesday the momentum realized in Egyptian-Somali relations. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's keenness on promoting amicable ties with Somalia, underlining the importance of bolstering cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, and security domains. The top diplomat made the remarks during a meeting with Somalia's National Security Advisor Hussein Sheikh-Ali on the fringe of the Oslo Forum. Abdelatty underlined the importance of enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and Somalia in light of the outcome of the Egyptian-Somali business forum which was held in Cairo in January 2025. He voiced hope that Somalia would continue to benefit from training sessions held by various Egyptian bodies in the capacity-building domain. He reiterated Egypt's keenness to contribute to the African Union mission to support stability in Somalia as soon as possible in light of Egypt's longstanding commitment to supporting the security and stability of Somalia, which is considered an integral part of the stability of the entire region.

OPEN// PM follows up on status of govt's IPO program
CAIRO, June 11 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said he is following up on the progress of the government's initial public offering (IPO) program, saying necessary steps and procedures will be taken to enhance the private sector's role in various economic activities and increase its participation across numerous sectors, under the State Ownership Policy Document. Madbouli made the remarks as he chaired a meeting on Wednesday to follow up on the status of the government's IPO program. The meeting reviewed the implementation status of the IPO program, as well as the various timelines related to offering several targeted companies in the coming stage, Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed el Homosany said. The meeting was attended by Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdullah, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania el Mashat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el Khatib, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance for Fiscal Policies Yasser Sobhi and CBE's Deputy Governor Rami Aboul Naga, along with officials from the ministries concerned and the CBE.
