Former Premier League star 'agrees contract termination with Barcelona' and 'joins LaLiga rivals' ahead of the Club World Cup
Former Tottenham defender Clement Lenglet has reportedly reached an agreement with Barcelona to terminate his contract and has signed with LaLiga rivals Atletico Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup. The Frenchman, who spent a season on loan in north London, had been in negotiations to end his deal with the Blaugrana since the end of the campaign, according to reports in Spain. An agreement was finally reached on Monday, report Marca, while ESPN claim that the 29-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Atletico. Lenglet had two years remaining on his contract with Barca which was set to earn him a staggering gross sum of €16million (£13.4m). All parties reportedly reached a deal that will see the defender reduce his salary, with Barcelona paying a portion of his deal. Lenglet spent last season on loan in the Spanish capital, making 34 appearances across all competitions under Diego Simeone. Having signed for Barcelona in a 2018 transfer from Sevilla worth £25m, Lenglet quickly fell out of favour and had a loan spell with Aston Villa in addition to temporary stays with Spurs and Atletico. Simeone 's side are set to jet off to the United States to compete in the inaugural competition, with their campaign getting underway against European champions Paris Saint-Germain on June 15. The LaLiga side are also set to face MLS outfit Seattle Sounders and Brazilian side Botafogo in Group B. Lenglet has been capped 16 times at international level for France and was part of their squad for the Nations League Finals, playing 72 minutes in the 5-4 semi-final defeat by Spain. He made 40 appearances in the Premier League during his time in north London and the west Midlands.

Antony, 25, joined the Red Devils in 2022 for £85.5million in Ten Hag's first summer at the club to follow the manager directly from Ajax. However, according to widespread reports, Man Utd only pushed ahead with the deal after being encouraged by Ten Hag to complete it when he lost his first two games in charge. Then Man Utd chief John Murtough submitted three bids to take Antony from the Dutch giants, which was eventually accepted. And after a bright start, Antony failed to live up to his billing and quickly became a scapegoat for Ten Hag's failings as a Man Utd boss. Ten Hag now manages Bayer Leverkusen and has been linked with the winger once again. But in a stunning claim from Kees Vos, co-founder of Sports Entertainment Group (SEG) who are Ten Hag's agency, he says Ten Hag actually tried to BLOCK the move, with Man Utd being the ones wanting to "push it through at all costs". Writing in the book, Liverpool and the Dutch, Vos claims: "Ten Hag and Vos were not in favour of this and wanted to stop the transfer. 'With you, I started to smile again' - Tearful Antony announces Real Betis exit "Although Ten Hag did not support this transfer, it stuck with him throughout his entire time in Manchester that he took over the attacker from Ajax for this ill-fated amount, who was never able to fulfil his promise." Overall, Antony scored just 12 goals and added five assists in 96 games for the Red Devils and was often ridiculed for his flagrant skills which often yielded no end product. His loan at La Liga club Betis reminded people of skills as he contributed to 14 goals in 26 games. Man Utd chiefs are reportedly willing to take a hit worth more than half of what they originally paid in order to get him off the books, with a figure of around £40m being reported. SunSport have also revealed how Ten Hag's Bayer are considering a move for Jack Grealish after he was told his Manchester City career is over. 3 Join SUN CLUB for the Man Utd Files every Thursday plus in-depth coverage and exclusives from Old Trafford WATCH EVERY MATCH OF THE CLUB WORLD CUP 2025 LIVE ON DAZN

Quincy Promes 'pleads with Dutch police NOT to arrest him' with Netherlands international 'pining for return to his homeland' where he has two convictions
Quincy Promes has reportedly filed a request for visitation rights to the Netherlands without being arrested, despite two separate convictions for drug smuggling and violence. The former Dutch international footballer was arrested at Dubai Airport last year, while arriving for a training camp with former club Spartak Moscow, for leaving the scene of a traffic accident while in the United Arab Emirates. Promes, 33, has not been allowed to leave the country since and continues to play football for second-tier club FC Dubai United. Last year, the winger was sentenced to six years in prison by the Dutch court for his involvement in smuggling over 1,350 kilos of cocaine in Antwerp back in January 2020. That followed a separate 18-month prison sentence for stabbing his cousin, meaning Promes was sentenced to a total of seven-and-a-half years. He appealed both convictions and is yet to serve his time. He has since been arrested again at the behest of the Netherlands, but the UAE is yet to honour his extradition. And now Dutch media outlet AD have reported thathe has requested to return to his home country with the ability to move freely, and a court hearing to determine the outcome of the request will take place in Amsterdam on Tuesday. Promes is said to be willing to cooperate and attend a trial but has asked to not be taken into custody, a demand that was previously denied. The ex-Ajax and Sevilla attacker now wants to tell his side of the story and has spoken to RTL Boulevard about his will to continue a football career. 'I'm not going to lie that I miss the Netherlands very much and would like to come back,' he told RTL Boulevard. 'People have also often said that I am on the run, but I have been trying to get in touch with the justice department for some time to solve it.' 'I want to answer for myself in the Netherlands and continue my career. And that I fly back and forth to the Netherlands a few times when I am called up and then I can just continue playing football. That is what I want.' The Dutch's extradition request was filed over a year ago, but it is yet to be seen if the UAE are getting any closer to allowing Promes to return to his homeland. He signed a one-year deal at Dubai United in September of last year and has scored 13 goals in 19 appearances for the club.
