Yahoo20-05-2025

Argentine insurance company San Cristóbal Seguros has implemented Guidewire InsuranceSuite on Guidewire Cloud to support its core operations.
The initiative aims to streamline the insurer's IT operations and enhance its personal auto and fleet management business segments.
A Guidewire client since 2015, the company is expected to benefit from a quoting engine and new functionalities aimed at boosting operational efficiency and quickening time-to-market.
The transition to Guidewire Cloud was facilitated by SBI Technology, a member of the Guidewire PartnerConnect Consulting Advantage programme.
Grupo San Cristóbal chief information officer Federico Rela said: 'Guidewire is a benchmark in everything that involves managing the businesses of P&C [property and casualty] and all processes in the insurance policy life cycle. It is helping us innovate, thanks to the focus and specialty they have in understanding business and the good practices of the market.
'Guidewire Cloud gives us better control of our business processes, positioning and laying the foundations to achieve greater speed and agility in the face of the changes that the business requires.'
Guidewire Professional Services head Michael Mahoney stated: 'We applaud San Cristóbal Seguros' 85-year history of dedication to customer service and business process improvement. We congratulate them on their successful Guidewire Cloud deployment and look forward to helping the company grow their business.'
San Cristóbal has 85 years of experience in general insurance, with its offerings including auto insurance and P&C coverage.
The company has 23 offices and a network of more than 6,000 advisors and producers, catering to more than 910,000 policyholders.
This announcement follows a similar move by Belgian cooperative insurer P&V Group, which migrated its core applications to the Guidewire Cloud Platform to enhance underwriting, billing and claims management processes.
"Argentine insurer San Cristóbal Seguros moves to Guidewire Cloud " was originally created and published by Life Insurance International, a GlobalData owned brand.

Amazon Restocks Anker 100W USB-C Fast Charger with 3 Ports, Now Available at Nearly 40% Off

Anker is our favorite name when it comes to charging for years, and they have built their reputation on making powerful chargers that allow your devices to keep going with ease. The Anker Nano 100W USB-C charger is proof of their craft and it is capable of charging anything from smartphones to laptops with such simplicity. Unlike cheaper chargers that often limit their power output to phones only, this model offers a full 100W of power which makes it ideal for demanding devices like MacBooks and other Windows laptops. Currently, this charger is available on Amazon for just $35, down from its list price of $54 which is a 35% discount. This is an all-time lowest price which you will not find even on the largest sales events like Prime Day or Black Friday. See at Amazon 100W Supercharger The greatest benefit of the Anker Nano 100W charger is that it is capable of charging with ultra-fast speed through its two USB-C ports and a more traditional USB-A port. You can charge your laptop or tablet into either of the ports and receive the full 100W output to charge your devices quickly with no worries. The package includes a 5-foot USB-C to USB-C cable with a lifespan of over 5,000 bends and with an integrated E-Marker chip for safe and optimal charging. What makes this charger even more valuable is that it is very small: It is 34% smaller than the standard 96W MacBook power adapter, and it is very portable and easy to carry around. Though small, it charges three devices simultaneously — let's say a MacBook, an iPhone, and a pair of AirPods — without compromising on speed or efficiency. This Anker charger derives its power from GaN II technology which is an enormous improvement over traditional chargers. Gallium Nitride (GaN) allows for greater efficiency and faster charging speeds while keeping the charger small and heat emission at a minimum. The GaN II model used here doubles the operation frequency and boasts a new stacked design and upgraded circuit board structure. This combination forms a charger that is cooler, more compact, and more efficient than most standard ones, with an optimal charging experience without hassle or bloat. When you purchase this charger, you also have serenity with Anker's 18-month warranty and speedy customer service. The package includes the charger, a 5-foot USB-C to USB-C cable, and a quick-start guide to get you started in a hurry. Whether you are charging an expensive laptop, a phone, or multiple devices at once, this charger offers a mix of power, portability, and dependability hard to come by, at this cost. For work or everyday use, this charger is a very smart investment. See at Amazon

Trivago watched its revenue forecast plummet from $1 billion to nearly zero—so the company tapped a set of former interns to turn it around

Interns are often brushed off for being at the bottom of the totem pole, but at some companies, it's become a part of the secret recipe for landing a gig in the C-suite. Trivago is part of a list of companies, including Nike, HP, and EY, that have promoted former coffee-fetchers to the top of the corporate ladder. In the matter of a month during the pandemic, travel planning company Trivago's revenue forecast plummeted from $1 billion to virtually zero. It was a 'near-death experience' that resulted in a 'deep winter' for the company, according to CEO Johannes Thomas. Actual revenue sank 70% to 249 million euros in 2020 from 839 million euros in 2019, the latter equivalent to about $940 million at the time. But even as restrictions were lifted and travel surged back, Trivago still had not recovered—and thus it was time for a shake-up in the C-suite. 'After you have a near-death experience and three years of depression, you have a team that doesn't believe anymore,' Thomas, who was brought in as CEO to turn the company around in 2023, tells Fortune. But for Thomas and other executives, what's notable about their experiences is not their most recent roles—it's how they started their careers. Thomas first joined Trivago in 2011 as an intern working in online marketing, and he's quietly assembled other former interns, including Chief Financial Officer Wolf Schmuhl and Chief Marketing Officer Jasmine Ezz. Thomas says having leaders who understand the business and its culture from the ground up are key to returning the company to its former glory. And while Trivago's revenue for 2024 was still half what it was five years ago in 2019, first quarter 2025 revenues increased by 22% to $124 million. While retirees are often known for traveling frequently, one of Trivago's focuses is on young people—and it makes sense considering Gen Z's spending habits. The generation was the only group that reported an increase in year-to-year travel spending between 2023 and 2024, according to Berkshire Hathaway's State of Travel Insurance Report. The average trip was over $11,000. '(We're) trying to build an ecosystem—a culture and environment where young people can grow and where people can thrive,' Thomas says. That's another reason why Trivago's C-suite is not stacked with Gen Xers, but instead millennials who understand how young people think, spend, and travel. According to Thomas, the average Trivago customer is 34 years old, and 20% have families. By focusing on young people as a company, Trivago not only is able to tap into a customer market, but also an employee talent market. 'You get rock stars on the senior level football team,' Thomas says. 'And then you have a second team of young talents that have a chance to grow in this combination we try to execute on.' Trivago is not the only company that realized that those with the strongest roots to their company are the best leaders. Last year, Nike became the latest Fortune 500 company to name a former intern as a CEO. Elliot Hill began at the sports-gear giant at age 19 as an apparel sales intern and has only ever had one company at the top of his paychecks. In a statement last year, Hill said Nike has 'always been a core part of who I am.' HP CEO Enrique Lores, Principal Financial Group CEO Deanna Strable, and EY CEO Janet Truncale all similarly went from fetching coffees as an intern to being promoted to the corner office. And while focusing on hard work as an intern may set your path in motion to one day become chief executive, Lores admits that there's also an element of luck. 'You can be very smart or very good,' he previously told Fortune. 'But you also need to be lucky, and that's a very important thing for all of us to accept.' This story was originally featured on

Would investors be mad to consider these UK shares at P/E ratios above 30?

Despite a reputation for trading at a discount to their US counterparts, some UK shares trade at very high price-to-earnings (P/E) multiples. But these can often be better value than they look. There are a couple of stocks from the FTSE 100 and the FTSE 250 that currently trade at P/E ratios above 30. But – for different reasons – I think both are worth considering. Informa's (LSE:INF) in the business of running trade shows and conferences. Its biggest competitive strength is the popularity of its events, which are leaders in their various industries. The firm also leases – rather than owns – the venues that host its events. As a result, it has relatively little in the way of physical assets, which makes for low maintenance costs. A consequence of this is that Informa's free cash flow is consistently higher than its net income. In 2024, net income was around £407m, while free cash flow was £771m. The company's cash flow statement indicates that a lot of the difference is due to amortisation costs. Some of these relate to the firm's acquisition of Ascential in 2024. There are some important risks to consider. One of the most obvious is the possibility of a trade war, which is especially live at the moment and could be significant. Importantly though, I don't think the stock's as expensive as its P/E multiple suggests. On a free cash flow basis, it trades at a multiple of 13 and this seems much more reasonable. Shares in FTSE 250 brick manufacturer Ibstock (LSE:IBST) currently trade at a P/E ratio of almost 50. But there's a very clear reason for this. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) the number of housing completions has been falling since 2021. And that has been weighing on demand for bricks. There's reason to believe though, that the long-term picture's much more positive. The UK has a shortage of housing that might well lead to strong demand over the next decade and beyond. If this causes Ibstock's earnings to get back to where they were at their peak, the current share price implies a P/E ratio of around 8. I think that means the stock might not be as expensive as it looks. Ongoing developments in housing construction are a potential risk for the firm. Some new building techniques require fewer bricks than traditional ones and this is worth paying attention to. Investors therefore shouldn't be complacent when it comes to the stock. But they also shouldn't take a high P/E ratio at face value as a sign the company's shares are overvalued. Valuing a stock isn't just about looking at the multiples it trades at. A high P/E ratio says more about investor expectations than the underlying business. With Informa, the business generates more cash than its net income indicates. And Ibstock's profits should gather momentum in the event of UK housebuilding picking up in the future. I don't think investors would be mad to consider buying either at today's prices. I see both as reasons to look past the headline multiples when it comes to evaluating stocks.
