Karmelo Anthony spokesman slams 'white supremacy' in wake of murder charge as teen sets up $1.4m fundraiser for TRAUMA COUNSELING

Daily Mail6 hours ago

Murder suspect Karmelo Anthony's family spokesman has railed against 'white supremacy' after the 17-year-old was indicted for a high school track star's murder.
Spokesman Dominique Alexander pleaded with Anthony's supporters to 'stand with us in the fight against white supremacy' after the teen was indicted for the murder of Austin Metcalf, 17, in Frisco, Texas, in April.
Alexander added: 'To the racists, the bigots, and those filled with hate who've targeted Karmelo, his family, and even myself – you do not intimidate us. We are not backing down.
'This case is yet another example of what it means to be black in America, where even our self-defense is questioned, scrutinized and politicized.
'My involvement – like many others — came as a direct response to the overwhelming hate, threats and outside influence that have surrounded this case since day one.'
Anthony's family insist he was defending himself against Metcalf when he stabbed him to death at a high school track meet. But surveillance footage of the killing at a track meet viewed by Daily Mail appears to show Anthony's attack was unprovoked.
Meanwhile, Anthony's latest court docket has asked for taxpayer-funded legal counsel for his trial - despite a recent fundraiser than raised almost $600,000.
Outrageously, the family raised their fundraising goal to $1.4 million, with the Anthonys saying some of the cash would go on 'trauma counseling.'
The family will continue to use some of the cash for relocation to a 'safe neighborhood', after Daily Mail reported that bought a new car and already live in a sprawling $800,000 home in a gated community.
When Karmelo was indicted this week, his family wrote in an update to the fundraiser that it was an 'unimaginable tragedy' and a 'moment we hoped we would never face.'
Anthony's case divided the nation as his supporters alleged that he is being unfairly prosecuted for murder because he is black, while critics argue there was no reason to fatally stab Metcalf, who was not armed, in the heart.
In April, Anthony was released on house arrest and returned to his family's gated community home after his attorneys successfully reduced his bail.
The bail was initially set at $1 million, and prosecutors argued that his family could use the $439,000 they had fundraised at the time to pay his bail.
His father Andrew Anthony told the court that he didn't have access to the funds at the time, and that he was planning to use the money to pay for his son's defense.
It is unclear why the family cannot use the now-$539,000 they have raised for his defense as they filed the indigent packet in court.
Alongside paying for trauma therapy and relocation, the family also said in their fundraiser that the money would pay for transportation to and from Karmelo's court hearings.
They added that it would be used for enhanced security measures after facing threats and public backlash following Metcalf's death.
'While legal expenses are a significant part of this fund, they are only one part. Our family — a loving, God-fearing family — is simply seeking safety, justice, and peace in these trying times,' they wrote.
The altercation between Anthony and Metcalf happened at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas April 2. Anthony, who does not attend school with Metcalf, sat under Metcalf's school's tent before allegedly stabbing him when told to move
In a previous post to the GiveSendGo back in April, the family clarified that 'while legal defense is a critical part of this journey, we want to make it clear that this fund is not solely dedicated to legal expenses.
'The funds raised will also support a range of urgent and necessary needs that have emerged as a result of this situation, including — but not limited to — the safe relocation of the Anthony family due to escalating threats to their safety and well-being, as well as basic living costs, transportation, counseling, and other security measures,' the fundraiser added.
'We ask for your continued prayers, support, and solidarity. Your contribution not only helps protect and stabilize the family, but also serves as a powerful message of community care and resistance in the face of injustice.'

BREAKING NEWS Bryan Kohberger dealt major blow as judge blasts 'irrelevant' alternate suspect theory in Idaho murders trial

has been dealt a huge blow to his defense after an Idaho judge slapped down his efforts to point the finger at four alternate suspects - blasting his legal team's evidence as 'entirely irrelevant.' In a scathing order handed down Thursday, Judge Steven Hippler blocked the accused mass killer's defense from presenting evidence to the jury at his capital murder trial alleging that these mystery individuals - and not Kohberger - could be the real killer or killers. The ruling marks a major defeat for Kohberger's defense strategy in a case where prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. It also means that the identity of this alternate suspect or suspects - and what evidence the defense has that could tie them to the brutal murders - will likely never be publicly known. In another loss for the accused killer, the judge also struck down his 11th-hour bid to delay his capital murder trial. Now, following more than two years of legal wrangling, delays and the trial being moved to another county, it appears likely that Kohberger is finally heading to trial this summer. Jury selection is currently slated for early August. Kohberger is accused of killing Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen in a stabbing rampage inside an off-campus student home in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022. Two other roommates were inside the home at the time of the attack and called 911 after finding one of their friend's bodies hours later. The motive for the murders remains a mystery and Kohberger has no known connection to any of the victims. If convicted, he faces the death penalty which, due to changes in Idaho law, means he could be sent to the firing squad. With the trial looming, Kohberger's legal team has been making a series of last-ditch efforts to shape the defense strategy - and seeking to upend proceedings altogether. In April, the defense made the bombshell announcement they had found evidence of individuals they claim could be the real killer. The lead was found among a trove of tips collected by law enforcement during the original investigation, Kohberger's lead attorney Anne Taylor said back in May. The name of those individuals and what evidence the defense had was filed in secret under seal. Experts previously told the Daily Mail it would have a 'significant impact' on the outcome of the trial if jurors were able to hear testimony pointing to another potential suspect - providing a powerful story to counter the more technical prosecution case based on DNA evidence and data. Kohberger has been behind bars since his arrest at his parents' home in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, on December 30, 2022. The criminology PhD graduate was connected to the murders after his DNA was found on a Ka-Bar leather knife sheath found next to Mogen's body at the scene. Prosecutors also found cellphone records placing him outside the student home multiple times prior to the murders, as well as surveillance footage showing a vehicle matching his white Hyundai Elantra speeding away from the crime scene. One of the surviving roommates - Dylan Mortensen - also saw a masked white man, dressed in all black and with 'bushy eyebrows' inside the home that fateful night. She is expected to be a star witness in the trial. It has now emerged that the DoorDash driver who delivered food to Kernodle minutes before the murders also told police she 'saw Bryan' outside the house that night. The unidentified 44-year-old woman is also expecting to testify at the trial, she told police during a traffic stop in Pullman, Washington, last year. Kohberger stood silent at his arraignment, with a judge entering a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Home reportedly owned by Brad Pitt was ransacked by burglars, police say

Police are investigating a break-in at a home reportedly owned by Brad Pitt, who has been on a globe-spanning promo tour for his new movie, 'F1.' The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they responded to a break-in Wednesday night at a house on the 2300 block of North Edgemont Street in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. Three suspects broke into the residence through the front window, ransacked the home and fled with miscellaneous property, said Officer Drake Madison. Madison said he could not identify who owned or lived in the home, and no information is currently available on what was stolen. Pitt reportedly bought the home for $5.5 million in April 2023, according to Traded, a commercial real estate website. A Pitt representative declined comment. Pitt has been out of the country on a promotional tour for the 'F1' movie. He attended the international premiere in London on Monday. The movie will be in U.S. theaters Friday.

BREAKING NEWS Texas I-45 freeway shutdown as armed woman in folding chair sparks police standoff

A woman armed with a handgun is locked in a tense standoff with police on a busy Texas freeway, causing traffic chaos for thousands of commuters. Multiple law enforcement agencies are Interstate 45 trying to negotiate with the woman, who pulled a folding chair out of her car and has been sitting in the middle of the road. According to KWTX 10, a constable reported the woman had 'apparently turned her vehicle directly into the path of an 18-wheeler' and caused a collision. It is understood a trained mental health officer is among first responders on the scene attempting negotiations. A spokesperson for the Harris County Constable's Precinct said a family member has also arrived. Extraordinary footage of the incident shows traffic backed up for miles as teams of officers with their weapons drawn keep an eye on the woman. The woman appears to be wearing a blue cardigan, blue hat and blue skirt. Authorities reported the woman said she 'wants her kids' and claimed they were being held hostage. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told Fox News the woman, armed with a pistol, is expressing suicidal thoughts. She has refused to comply with orders to drop the weapon, nor has she moved from her position in the middle of the road. Traffic is at a gridlock in the area with both directions closed, sparking travel carnage for motorists. The public has been urged to avoid the area. Diversions are in place.
