UConn women to face USC in the Elite Eight
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A win Monday would put the UConn women into the final four for the 24th time in program history. But they are only focused on one number. A 12th national title, and the first for Paige Bueckers.
It was the Paige Buckets show Saturday in Spokane. Every game might be her last with UConn, and she is playing like it. A career-high 40 points against Oklahoma.

She hit six 3-pointers and left the game to a standing ovation. The Huskies were down by four at the half and made a big comeback to win by 23. 6-5 center and Buecker's roommate, Jana El Alfy, knows how lucky they are to have Bueckers on their side.
'That was incredible, amazing to see. I'm really, really honored and grateful to be able to, you know, see that is here and do great things like that. She's been a role model for all of us, a person to look up to. She's going to be leader, been there for all of us whenever we needed her. So just she deserves the best. And that's I mean, I'm not surprised that she dropped 40 yesterday. I mean, that's what she does,' Jana El Alfy said.
They are hoping she keeps doing it. The Huskies face USC Monday to decide who goes to the final four. A lot of fans had been looking forward to an Elite Eight matchup between Bueckers and USC star Juju Watkins, but last week, Watkins tore her ACL.
The Trojans got by Kansas state by 6 points Saturday, but they are a 13 and a half point underdog to the Huskies tonight.
We will see what happens. Monday's tipoff is at 9 p.m.

Report: NCAA penalizes Wisconsin football for recruiting violations The NCAA is penalizing Wisconsin football for recruiting infractions that occurred during the spring of 2023. BadgerExtra's Colten Bartholomew was the first to report the news. Bartholomew writes that "nine members of Luke Fickell's staff violated a since-changed NCAA rule by making phone calls to recruits before the recruiting calendar allowed them to be made." Notably, that rule changed in August 2023, just months after the reported violations. Among those specifically penalized are Fickell, outside linebackers coach Matt Mitchell, former defensive line coach Greg Scruggs and former recruiting lead Max Stienecker. The infraction is a Level II violation. Both Scruggs and Stienecker received one-year show-cause orders, while Fickell and Mitchell will not be permitted to contact high school recruits from June 15-21. For more specifics on the violations and their fallout, here is Bartholomew's full report. Notably, neither of the two staffers who received show causes still works for Wisconsin. Scruggs left the program after the 2023 campaign for the same title at Big Ten rival Michigan, though he resigned just months into the job after an OWI arrest. He is now an assistant defensive line coach with the San Francisco 49ers. Stienecker, meanwhile, left Wisconsin in February to become USC's general manager. He and his recruiting staff currently have the Trojans atop the class of 2026 national rankings with 28 total commits, 18 blue-chip players and one five-star. Wisconsin finished the 2024 recruiting cycle, the one that included the reported infractions, with arguably the best class in program history. Among the program's 22 signees, 11 were blue-chip players. Four-star recruits offensive tackle Kevin Heywood, defensive lineman Ernest Willor Jr., running back Dilin Jones and defensive lineman Dillan Johnson headline a group that finished ranked No. 25 nationally and No. 7 in the Big Ten Conference. The 2025 season should see a significant portion of that class enter the team's two-deep depth chart. Running backs Dilin Jones and Darrion Dupree, offensive lineman Emerson Mandell, wide receiver Kyan Berry-Johnson, defensive lineman Dillan Johnson and linebacker Thomas Heiberger should all see the field. Heywood was also in line to start for the team at left tackle, though he is projected to miss the season after an ACL injury. Furthermore, cornerback Xavier Lucas already excelled as a true freshman in 2024, though he transferred to Miami in the offseason. The Badgers' class of 2026, which has yet to see a blue-chip player added, currently ranks No. 40 nationally. You need something to help you while away the days and hours in the spring and summer. This is one way to do so. In this new series, countdown to kickoff, we will be counting down the days by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number. Today, we take a look at former USC offensive lineman Khaled Holmes. Position: Offensive line Years played at USC: 2008-2012 Career highlight: Holmes redshirted his first season at USC in 2008, and appeared in three games as a backup offensive guard for Pete Carroll's 2009 team. Under new head coach Lane Kiffin in 2010, Holmes became the starting right guard. He moved to center in 2011, where he started the next two seasons. As a senior in 2012, Holmes was named first-team All-Pac-12 and was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, given to the top center in the country. After USC: The Indianapolis Colts selected Holmes in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL draft. He played three seasons with the team and appeared in 17 games before being released in 2016. He also had brief stints with the Chicago Bears and New York Giants, but never played in a regular season game with either team. Holmes's older brother, Alex, played tight end at USC from 2000-2004. Since 2023, Holmes has served as the associate head football coach at Southern California powerhouse Mater Dei High School, whom he played for from 2004-2007.

Texas A&M is reportedly the 'frontrunner' for elite 2026 4-star wide receiver Two of Texas A&M's priority prospects in the 2026 recruiting class will take an official visit to College Station this weekend, as five-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster and five-star OL/DL Lamar Brown represents the two most essential prospects for coach Mike Elko and his staff that will make their final decision early next month. In terms of predictions, nothing has been clear regarding both prospects 'favorite landing spots over the past month, as Brown's recent OVs to Miami and Texas have shaken things up, while Feaster's recent OV to USC could complicate things moving forward. Still, it's impossible to ever keep the Aggies out of contention after several 2026 commits shut down their recruitment, combined with landing 2026 four-star safety Chance Collins over Texas Tech. However, according to On3, Texas A&M is now the front-runner to land Feaster and remains in great shape to secure four-star running back KJ Edwards, four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck, and three-star quarterback Kaeden Johnson. The fact that Feaster is still a favorite to land in College Station speaks volumes regarding Elko's ability to recruit elite wide receiver prospects compared to former head coach Jimbo Fisher. Yes, OC Collin Klein and WR coach Holmon Wiggins also deserve credit, but it starts at the top, especially battling the likes of LSU, USC, Texas, and Alabama. From a production standpoint, Featster has delivered impressive statistics that align with his recruiting expectations. He wrapped up his 2024 sophomore season with a personal best of 57 receptions, 855 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Throughout two varsity seasons, Feaster has amassed 1,489 yards and 23 touchdowns. According to On3, Feaster is currently positioned as the 44th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 5th-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Texas.
