Dom Decker delivers for Murray State and Racers upset Ole Miss 9-6 in Oxford Regional
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Dom Decker drove in Conner Cunningham with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and Murray State went on to upset Oxford Regional No. 1 seed Mississippi 9-6 on Friday night.
No. 4 seed Murray State (40-13), in its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance, will play Georgia Tech on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets defeated West Virginia in the regional's first game. Ole Miss (40-20) and West Virginia will play a loser-out game Saturday.

Dustin Mercer had four doubles and drove in three runs for the Racers. Jonathan Hogart had three hits and scored three runs.
Hogart hit the first pitch of the game over the center-field fence. Mercer, the next batter, doubled and later scored on a fielder's choice for a 2-0 lead.
The Racers added two more runs in the second inning on another double by Mercer and a sacrifice fly by Carson Garner.
Judd Utermark's three-run home run in the third inning but the Ole Miss deficit to 4-3. The Rebels went ahead in the fourth for what would be the only time in the game on Campbell Smithwick's leadoff home run followed two outs later by an RBI-single from Luke Hill.

Utermark came to the plate with two on and one out in the bottom of the ninth but Graham Kelham struck him out swinging on the way to his fifth save. The game ended on a popup by Smithwick.
Jacob Hustedde (2-0) got the final two outs in the seventh for the win.

Ohio State softball slugger enters the transfer portal I guess until you are known as a softball power, these sorts of things happen. The OSU softball team had a major turnaround this season under new head coach Kirin Kumar, finishing in a tie for fourth place in the Big Ten with an offense that led the country in several major categories. It was enough for the Buckeyes to head to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed in the Knoxville Region, where they got knocked out by host Tennessee in the championship round. The offense was led by All-American and unanimous First-Team All-Big Ten performer, Jasmyn Burns. The catcher belted 25 home runs, knocked in 75 RBIs, and batted .455 over the course of the season. She wasn't the only slugger in the lineup who had a career year, but there's no doubt that she was the most feared in the lineup. Sadly, Burns won't be back on the banks of the Olentangy next season after announcing that she will be entering the transfer portal. It'll won't be easy to replace Burns' bat in the OSU lineup, and this is clearly a big loss for a program searching for its first NCAA Super Regional appearance since 2009, but it is a sign of the times, and until Ohio State can start to win on the biggest of stages, it is a bit exepected. Now we'll see if Coach Kumar and the program can continue the momentum it clearly gained this past season as it looks to build something in Columbus.

PARIS (AP) — Elina Svitolina saved three match points and came back to eliminate 2024 runner-up Jasmine Paolini 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1 on Sunday, earning her fifth French Open quarterfinal appearance. The 13th-seeded Svitolina, who is from Ukraine, is a three-time Grand Slam semifinalist — getting that far twice at Wimbledon and once at the U.S. Open — but is 0-4 so far in the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros. She'll try to go a step further on Tuesday, when she will face either three-time defending champion Iga Swiatek or 2022 Wimbledon champion Elina Rybakina. They were scheduled to play each other next at Court Philippe-Chatrier. The No. 4-seeded Paolini entered Sunday on a career-best nine-match winning streak, including a run to the title on red clay at the Italian Open. A year ago, she reached her first major final at the French Open, losing to Swiatek, then also made it to the championship match at Wimbledon, where she lost to Barbora Krejcikova. Svitolina also defeated Paolini at the Australian Open in January. What else happened at the French Open on Sunday? In the day's first men's match, Tommy Paul beat No. 25 Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 to become the first American man in the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros since Andre Agassi in 2003. The 28-year-old Paul, who is seeded 12th, was coming off consecutive five-setters but breezed to this victory. Who is playing Monday at Roland-Garros?
