PM says India intensifying proxy terrorism after Marka-e-Haq defeat

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday accused India of stepping up a proxy terrorism campaign inside Pakistan following its defeat in Marka-e-Haq, vowing that what he called Fitna al Hindustan would be defeated by the Pakistani nation.
During his address to the faculty and graduating officers at the Command and Staff College Quetta, the Prime Minister accused India of resorting to indirect aggression after suffering setbacks in recent engagements.
He was referring to India's use of force, which was met with a precise military response under Operation Bunyanum Marsoos targeting Indian air assets, ammunition depots, and missile bases along and beyond the Line of Control. This operation was part of the broader Marka-e-Haq campaign, conducted from May 7 to May 10.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan's armed forces, backed by the full support of the nation, are prepared to meet every challenge to the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
'The Pakistani nation is united. With our faith, determination, and strength, we will defeat every conspiracy hatched by India and its proxies,' the Prime Minister said.

PM Shehbaz lauded the performance of the Pakistan Armed Forces during Bunyanum Marsoos, calling their conduct exemplary and a source of national pride.
He praised the military's professionalism, bravery, and sacrifices, stating that their dedication had earned the highest respect of the nation.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government's full support to the armed forces in fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities and defending Pakistan against all threats.
He also highlighted the importance of synergy among all elements of national power to address evolving regional and internal challenges.
Earlier, on arrival at the Command and Staff College, the Prime Minister was received by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M).
PM addresses tribal jirga, advocates dialogue on grievances
Prior to this, the premier attended the tribal Jirga and thanked tribal elders, lawmakers, and local leaders for participating in the jirga, aimed at tackling key challenges in the province, especially law and order issues.
PM praised Balochistan as the 'heart of Pakistan' and a province of 'brave people' during his address to the historic Balochistan Grand Tribal Jirga in Quetta.
He lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces for their 'bravery and professionalism' during the recent conflict with India on May 6 and 7, saying the enemy had suffered an 'unforgettable defeat.' He also commended the unity of the people of Balochistan alongside other provinces who stood shoulder to shoulder with the military.
The Prime Minister praised Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his leadership during what he described as a 'short but dangerous war,' avenging Pakistan's 1971 defeat.

Recalling Pakistan's nuclear tests, he said the country had responded to India's five tests with six of its own, calling it a 'moment of great pride.'
The prime minister highlighted Balochistan's historic loyalty, noting that its elders were among the first to accept Quaid-e-Azam's leadership and declare accession to Pakistan. He urged grievances to be resolved through dialogue and unity.
Describing terrorists as agents of foreign enemies, he vowed to defeat their tactics and sought guidance to address any gaps in the government's response.
He noted that Punjab had voluntarily contributed Rs11 billion from its own share to Balochistan under the 2010 NFC Award, calling it a 'spirit of solidarity.'
PM announced Rs250 billion would be allocated to Balochistan in the upcoming federal development budget of Rs1 trillion, emphasizing transparent use of funds.

He said a recent global drop in oil prices allowed a Rs10 per litre reduction in petrol and diesel, saving Rs1.5 billion to be used for upgrading the N-25 highway, known as the 'bloody highway.'
Acknowledging Balochistan's vast geography and development challenges, PM reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to the province's progress and stability.

India arrests 81 for 'sympathising' with Pakistan

The arrests took place in the northeastern state of Assam, where Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said "81 anti-nationals are now behind bars for sympathising with Pak". Sarma, from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist ruling party, said in a statement "our systems are constantly tracking anti-national posts on social media and taking actions". One of the persons was arrested after he posted a Pakistani flag on his Instagram, Assam police told AFP. No further details about other arrests were given. There has been a wider clampdown on social media since an April 22 attack on tourists in IIOJK. Indian media have reported that Assam's government has allegedly rounded up dozens of alleged Bangladeshis in the past month and taken them to the frontier to cross. The Times of India newspaper on Saturday reported that Assam was "dumping them in no-man's land", suggesting that at least 49 had been pushed back between May 27-29 alone. The Assam government has not commented on the reports. Bangladesh, largely encircled by land by India, has seen relations with New Delhi turn icy, after the Dhaka government was toppled in an uprising last year. Bangladesh has also moved closer to China, as well as to Pakistan.

While interacting with tribal elders during a Grand Jirga at the Zehri Auditorium in Quetta, the chief of the army staff lauded the bravery and resilience of security forces and the law-enforcement personnel operating in Balochistan, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Munir jointly addressed the Jirga, which was organised to interact with the tribal leadership and discuss the evolving security situation in Balochistan, with particular focus on the ongoing proxy war fuelled by India. "This Indian sponsored proxy war is no longer hidden, it is an open malicious act of terrorism waged on our people, our progress, and our peace. We have concrete proof of India's hand behind terrorist networks operating in Balochistan," Field Marshal Munir said. "These nefarious attempts of the enemy will fail. The Pakistan Army, with the unwavering support of the nation and the brave Baloch people, will confront and crush every enemy, foreign or domestic, that dares to challenge our sovereignty." On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted that Indian-sponsored proxies operating in Balochistan had intensified their efforts to undermine peace, destabilise the province, and disrupt development initiatives led by the government and the armed forces. He said that terrorist groups like the Fitna al-Hindustan sought support of the locals which must be denied to them. He stressed the need for engaging at the grassroots level and ensuring that terrorists found no social space. Praising the leadership and constructive role of the elders, Shehbaz reiterated that denying social space to terrorists was crucial for the success of counter-terrorism efforts and for the long-term peace and stability. He vowed that the enemies of peace would find no space to operate within Pakistan. "Our message to them is clear: the government, armed forces, the LEAs and the administrative apparatus," with the complete support of the people, would take the fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion and defeat terrorism in a decisive manner. Highlighting a series of monumental developmental packages for prosperity in Balochistan, the prime minister emphasised the need to ensure that people at the grassroots level benefited from the government's initiatives. He praised the people of Balochistan for their historic role in safeguarding the national unity and urged them to remain vigilant against foreign-backed subversion and sabotage orchestrated and sponsored by India. Prime Minister Shehbaz and Field Marshal Munir lauded the bravery and resilience of security forces and the LEAs operating in Balochistan. Shehbaz assured the families of Shuhada of full cooperation and support, and vowed that terrorists, their abettors, and facilitators would not be spared. The Jirga concluded with a unanimous pledge from tribal elders to stand shoulder to shoulder with the government of Pakistan and the armed forces, reaffirming their commitment to the security, stability, and development of Balochistan, the statement said. Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz visited the Command and Staff College in Quetta and addressed Students and Faculty of the college. His address reflected the government's commitment to strengthening Pakistan's defence institutions amid the evolving regional and internal security dynamics. Shehbaz underscored the importance of professional excellence, operational readiness, and strategic foresight in the face of emerging and hybrid threats, especially in sensitive regions like Balochistan, where Indian sponsored proxies target "our people and aim to disrupt our progress and prosperity".
