Karnataka govt handover Kumki elephants to AP, Pawan thanks CM
The collaboration between the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka has reached new heights, with Karnataka handing over six trained Kumki elephants to Andhra Pradesh. These elephants are vital in mitigating the conflicts arising from wild elephants encroaching on human settlements. The ceremonial handover took place at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Tuesday, attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
During the event, CM Siddaramaiah formally presented the specially prepared handover documents for the Kumki elephants to Pawan Kalyan, a move that environmentalists believe highlights the strong ties between the two states.
Pawan Kalyan expressed his gratitude to the Karnataka government for its timely support, stating, "Whenever Andhra Pradesh needs assistance, the Karnataka government responds promptly. This exemplifies the friendship between our two states." He added that the Kunki elephants would significantly aid in addressing issues related to wild elephants in the region.
Additionally, Kalyan mentioned that the Andhra Pradesh government has established a special training centre dedicated to the conservation of Kumki elephants. He also revealed that a total of nine agreements have been signed between the two states, focusing on environmental protection, wildlife control, and the implementation of green policies.

Governor attended RCB event on official invite: CM Siddaramaiah
Chikkaballapur, June 11 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday reiterated that the Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot, had been officially invited to the felicitation ceremony of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) players held at the Vidhana Soudha on June 4, jointly by him and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Addressing a press conference here, Siddaramaiah said, "KSCA and I had invited the Governor to the felicitation ceremony of RCB players held at Vidhana Soudha. He did not attend it on his own." The clarification comes amid political criticism and confusion surrounding the Governor's presence at the event. He further stated that the invitation was extended personally and formally, countering claims that Raj Bhavan acted independently. The Governor's office has also confirmed that the invitation was issued by the Chief Minister's Office. The CM's remarks follow controversy surrounding the post-ceremony tragedy near Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a stampede led to the deaths of 11 individuals and left many others injured. The incident occurred as thousands of fans gathered to greet the RCB players during a victory celebration organised by KSCA and event partners. Siddaramaiah maintained that the state government was not involved in the planning or organisation of the celebrations and had only permitted the felicitation at Vidhana Soudha. He added that the tragic incident occurred hours later and that he was informed only around 5:45 pm. In response to the tragedy, the government has announced Rs 25 lakh ex gratia for the families of the deceased and full medical support for the injured. A CID probe and magisterial inquiry have been ordered. As part of immediate action, Bengaluru's Police Commissioner and four other officers were suspended. FIRs have also been registered against officials of KSCA, RCB, and DNA Networks, who managed the event logistics. The issue has triggered a political storm, with opposition leaders blaming the Congress government for negligence. BJP leader B Sriramulu called for the resignation of the CM, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, and the Home Minister, accusing them of ignoring prior police warnings about security risks. Yathindra: Siddaramaiah will complete five-year term as CM
Mysuru: MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of CM Siddaramaiah, on Wednesday stated that Congress high command has not given any deadline to his father. He stated that Siddaramaiah will complete a full five-year term. "There is no danger for his CM post. He will complete the term," Yathindra told reporters. He also stated that the Delhi meeting was convened to discuss the deadlock over caste census. "During the discussion, the Bengaluru stampede issue was also discussed," he said. He accused BJP and JD(S) of following double standards while demanding the resignation of CM Siddaramaiah for the stampede. Similar stampedes claimed lives during Kumbh Mela and at Tirupati, but the BJP is silent on both the incidents. However, the Karnataka govt has ordered a judicial investigation into the Bengaluru stampede. "Truth will come after the investigation," he said. "How many leaders have resigned for stampede deaths in BJP and NDA-ruled states? Has the BJP taken any action against those who are responsible?" he asked.
