ATLANTA, Georgia (Reuters) -Joao Neves scored twice as Paris St Germain swept aside Lionel Messi's Inter Miami 4-0 at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday to secure their place in the Club World Cup quarter-finals with ruthless efficiency.
The French side asserted their dominance within six minutes, with Neves moving unmarked to the far post to power home a precise header from a free kick. Neves doubled PSG's lead in the 39th minute following a well-worked attack involving Bradley Barcola and Fabian Ruiz.
Any hopes of a Miami comeback were extinguished in the first half as Messi and company barely got a look in, and their misery deepened further when Tomas Aviles scored an own goal before Achraf Hakimi added a fourth on the stroke of halftime.
The Champions League winners march on towards the quarter-finals, where they will face the winners of the clash between Flamengo and Bayern Munich.

"Juergen, we fought together many, many times... when we went to UEFA meetings especially, or when we discussed the Premier League calendar, about how to add more quality, giving the managers and players more rest," Guardiola said. MIAMI GARDENS, June 30 — Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany praised his team's relentless attacking threat despite the ebbs and flows of their 4-2 Club World Cup win over Flamengo on Sunday. The German side led 2-0 and again had a two-goal advantage at 3-1 but on both occasions the Brazilian club found a way to keep the contest alive. While pleased with that resilience from his team, former Manchester City captain Kompany was particularly impressed with the way his team never drifted out of the game. 'I think the key part of the game for me, which always remains a key part of the game, is we always stayed dangerous,' he told reporters. 'It didn't matter if we were defending or if we had the ball. I think if we had the ball we were always dangerous. But even when we defended, then on the counter in the moments we looked like a team that could score at any time,' he added. 'I thought we stayed calm and then we scored the goals at the right time just to take the pressure off a little bit. Playing against these teams, the fans are a big part of the game. The Boca game is very similar. They feel like away games for us. And we have to adapt and find a way to win,' he said. Kompany said that ability to regain control of a game when an opponent is building momentum, is an element of the game that is tough to teach. British media: Chelsea agree deal to sign Brighton's Joao Pedro in move worth over £50m
LONDON, June 30 — Chelsea's forward options could be bolstered by the time they face Palmeiras in the Club World Cup quarter-finals on Friday after reportedly agreeing a deal with Brighton for Joao Pedro. The Athletic reported the Brazilian international is on his way to the United States for a medical before joining up with the Chelsea squad after terms were struck for a transfer in excess of £50 million (RM290 million). Pedro, who joined Brighton for a then club record £30 million from Watford two years ago, scored 30 goals in 70 appearances for the Seagulls. However, the 23-year-old missed Brighton's final two matches of the season after being dropped due to a training ground altercation with team-mate Jan Paul van Hecke. Fifa has given clubs involved in the Club World Cup knockout phase until July 3 to register new players for the tournament.
