Perranporth Beach in Cornwall is one of the UK's most popular and highly rated beaches, known for its stunning Atlantic views, three miles of golden sand, and excellent surf. Named the sixth most beautiful beach in the UK by Iglu Cruise based on Tripadvisor reviews, it offers a range of activities from swimming and snorkelling to horse riding.
The popular beach is also dog-friendly all year round, although dogs must be on a lead on the main beach during July and August. A great place to escape for an early summer break, beach lovers and their four legged friends have found affordable accommodation just along the coastline.
Haven Holidays offers family-friendly getaways at scenic UK coastal locations, with a wide range of activities and entertainment. One of its most popular parks, Perran Sands, is just a short drive away from the award winning beach at Perranporth.
Perran Sands offers a wide range of activities, from two heated swimming pools to a privately-owned beach that's perfect for surfing. There's also an activity hub with plenty of sports and leisure options to keep everyone entertained.
Nearby, you'll find some of Cornwall's top attractions, including the Eden Project with the world 's largest indoor rainforest, and Paradise Park, a popular wildlife sanctuary home to tropical birds and animals.
On site, visitors can unwind at the Surf Bay restaurant with a Cornish cream tea, enjoy chicken with a side of blues at Slim Chickens or enjoy a drink or two in the Coast Sports Bar.
With a range of accommodation to choose from, a four day mid-week break starts from £170 for a saver caravan in June. Alternatively, guests can glamp it up in a safari tent, yurt or a geo dome for £119 or stay in a chalet for £175.
If Perran Sands isn't quite right, Holywell Bay is just along the coast line, offering caravan accommodation and family friendly entertainment. Run by Parkdean Resorts, the holiday park has a 4.5 out of five-star rating on Tripadvisor.
Alternatively, Sykes Cottages has a wide selection of self catering holiday homes located along the Heritage Coast, with some charming dog-friendly boltholes to be found close to the beach.
For holidaymakers who would prefer to be pampered, the iconic Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa is an iconic adults-only retreat by the sea. Just 20 minutes along the coastline, guests have called it "an amazing place" is a "beautiful location."
A stone's throw from one of the UK's very best beaches, Haven Perran Sands has been given a 4.3 star rating out of five on Google. The site is beautifully located, with plenty of nearby attractions to explore, making it perfect for families, couples, or solo adventurers alike."
Another added: "Just got back from a holiday. Best family holiday we have experienced! The entertainment was phenomenal...The beach walk is beautiful for the dogs. And there really is something for everyone!"
Not every guest was quite so impressed. One disappointed visitor left a three-star review that said: "We had a decent time at Haven Perran Sands The Caravan was clean, a few issues like a hole in the curtain but nothing that would affect our holiday. It was a dog friendly bronze caravan so we weren't expecting the Ritz."
One returning visitor called it their "favourite place." They said: "Views are lovely. The coastal walks are amazing. Whole place dog friendly even the beach. The town of Perranporth is so a nice stroll plenty of little quirky shops and restaurants."

'I went to Benidorm on holiday and couldn't believe cost of a pint'
A man, who is known as the Benidorm Fanatic to his TikTok followers, recently headed to the popular holiday destination and was left gobsmacked by the price of a drink A Brit was gobsmacked by the cost of a pint in Benidorm, despite being a frequent visitor to Spain. Known amongst his TikTok followers as the Benidorm Fanatic, he recounts his visit to Uncle Ron's, a bar renowned for its affordably priced pints, where he found himself pleasantly surprised by just how much bang he got for his buck. In his popular video, he raves: "I tell you what, I believe it's actually a very, very nice pint as well, so it comes to the equivalent of about 84p in British money. Let's go and try it out, shall we? Let's give it a try." Upon reaching the bar, he continued: "So there you go, I'll give you a euro, a €1 pint, and I'll take that. Let's try this €1 pint. Look at that - a nice, clean, cold pint. It's got a nice, good head on it - let's try it." He enthusiastically shared his verdict, saying: "That is actually one of the best pints I've had in one of the popular bars. That is actually one of the best pints I've had in Benidorm to be honest with you. €1, I'll drink them all day." The video quickly gained traction, prompting viewers to share their impressions and even their own tales of Benidorm adventures. Among the comments, one user exclaimed: "Wow," while another who'd been there on holiday exclaimed: "I was there last week." Someone else who'd be there said: "Lovely pint. Had many." Whil a fellow TikToker simply added: "Bargain." Uncle Ron's, a hit with British holidaymakers in Benidorm, is famed for its budget-friendly tipples and hearty meals. TripAdvisor reviews boast of the establishment's offerings from breakfast through to dinner, with an average rating of 3.8 out of 5 on the platform, suggesting it's a must-visit for those seeking a decent meal and drinks while away. In the review section, one visitor commented: "Had a fantastic breakfast at Ron's today. Lovely English produce. Great service. Brilliant staff. "A massive group came in, but they were serviced promptly. Don't know how they manage with so few staff." Another shared their experience: "Last day we visited for some lunch before heading to airport. Left full, which is always a good thing. In all my times of going here, never left unhappy at the service nor the food - always really good." A third reviewer added: "We went many times during our two-week holiday. The staff are friendly and extremely hard working day and night. "Cheapest drinks you will find in town and food to suit everyone (daily deal only 6 euros). It's not a stylish 5* restaurant but then you wouldn't expect it. "For drinks just go to the bar like a normal bar. Always busy Sunday and Friday, so expect to book if you want a Sunday lunch. Would we go again? Certainly would!"

Spanish holiday hotspot hotel is accused of having the 'worst breakfast in Europe' as diner urges tourists to 'avoid' the 'bad tasting' eatery
One of Spain 's holiday hotspot hotels has been flagged by tourists as having the 'worst breakfast in Europe'. Hotel Atlántico, a four-star hotel nestled in the heart of Madrid, has received scathing reviews from diners on TripAdvisor. 'The rooms are nice and comfortable. Sadly that's where it ends,' one dissatisfied guest wrote. As well as complaining about lack of sleep due to hearing 'every creak and step in this place', the guest who stayed in Hotel Atlántico in May 2025, had strong feelings about the 'bad tasting' breakfast. 'The breakfast is the worst I have come across in all of Europe,' they warned. 'Do not have it.' Describing the food in more detail, a second guest wrote: 'My only complaint is the poor quality of the breakfast experience; self-service machine coffee, wet slices of ham, tasteless slices of plastic cheese and slightly stale bread one morning. 'One member of staff only each day and they couldn't keep up with everything that needed doing.' 'Plenty of Cava though,' they added, 'so not all bad.' Other 'disappointed' reviews pointed to the 'poor selection' at breakfast and its 'weird layout configuration'. More diplomatic TripAdvisor users suggested skipping the substandard breakfast entirely. Instead, they recommend eating at one of the many cafes available a stone's throw away from the hotel on La Gran Via - one of Madrid's most popular shopping areas. There were a range of other opinions on the breakfast with one guest describing it as 'very good' while Mick from Ayrshire in South West Scotland labelling it as 'ok'. 'The lack of chopped fruit and plain yogurt limited out healthy options compared with hotels on our travels,' Mick, who stayed at the hotel with his family in September 2024, penned. 'Otherwise all the staff were friendly and helpful and I would recommend this hotel if you want a central venue in Madrid,' he added. Despite mixed feedback, Hotel Atlántico advertises itself as having an 'excellent breakfast according to clients' on its website. A double room at the central hotel will set punters back around £250 for one night. Breakfast costs an additional £10. Reviews of the hotel breakfast are mixed with one disgruntled guest describing it as the 'worst I have come across in all of Europe' while others said it was 'OK' or 'very good' Eva Garcia, Hotel Atlántico's Assistant Director, responded to one user's scathing review of the breakfast buffet by 'apologising for not exceeding your expectations'. 'We have a buffet style breakfast with hot and cold meals (different types of eggs, sausages, bacon, cheese, cured ham, ham, turkey, cakes, jam, honey, yogurts, different types of bread, fruits, vegetables, coffees and juices, and also Cava),' she wrote. 'We strive to ensure each and every guest experience is satisfying. The rate is 12 euros. Please consider the value for money.'
