Mayor Deegan, community leaders join to launch ‘2025 Lights Out Northeast Florida Initiative'
Mayor Donna Deegan will join community leaders to launch the '202 Lights Out Northeast Florida Initiative' on Thursday.

The event, held at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens at 11 a.m., aims to encourage community members to protect local and migratory birds during the Spring and Fall Migration periods, which respectively last from March 15 to May 15 and September 15 to November 15.

6-year-old airlifted to the hospital after near-drowning: SJSO
A child has been hospitalized after a near-drowning in a St. Johns County neighborhood. A St. Johns County Sheriff's Office spokesperson tells us the agency responded to a drowning in the Silverleaf neighborhood. The victim was a 6-year-old, who officials say had to be airlifted to a hospital. Shooting reported near Regency-area gas station
UPDATE 2:40 p.m. - The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office just released more information about a shooting off Regency Square Boulevard. Investigators said a man in his 20s was shot in the foot during a road rage incident. Police said the victim and another person got out of their vehicles at an intersection of Tredinick Parkway and Commerce Center Drive and started arguing. That's when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired. The suspect has been detained, and the victim was taken to the hospital. ORIGINAL STORY - The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is at the Speedway gas station on Regency Square Boulevard. A shooting was reported there at around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
