Mahindra & Mahindra has finally launched the ADAS-equipped Scorpio-N in India with a starting price tag of ₹ 21.35 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the SUV is now equipped with 10 Level 2 ADAS features in its top-spec Z8L guise across both powertrain options. The Indian carmaker has further announced the launch of a new Z8T variant with added features. This will be positioned below the Z8L, priced from ₹ 20.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8L is available in both six and seven-seater variants with the choice between manual and automatic gearboxes. The SUV can be had in 2WD or 4x4 versions with either a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 2.2-litre diesel mill. Its Level 2 ADAS suite brings 10 features, including forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, high beam assist, smart pilot assist, and traffic sign recognition. The Scorpio-N ADAS is further fitted with exclusive features such as speed limit assist and front vehicle start alert.

The newly-launched Scorpio-N Z8T is positioned midway within the entire Z8 range and is similarly configurable with all available powertrain options. The new variant brings premium features such as a 12-speaker Sony audio system, front camera, front parking sensors, electronic parking brake, and auto-dimming IRVMs. The Z8T further rides on 18-inch diamond-cut alloys and offers creature comforts such as ventilated front seats and a 6-way powered driver's seat.

The Scorpio-N SUV is available with two engine options, with the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol making 200 bhp and up to 380 Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine is available in two distinct tunes with varying power output figures. The mHawk unit in the Z2 model produces 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, but it can reach 172 bhp and 400 Nm in the Z4 and higher variants. The SUV further offers 4x4 variants with a 4XPLOR terrain management system, but these are limited to the diesel models.

Foreign debt climbs: India's external debt rises 10% to $736.3 billion in FY25; debt-to-GDP edges up to 19.1%
I ndia's external debt rose 10% to $736.3 billion at the end of March 2025 from $668.8 billion a year earlier, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday. The debt-to-GDP ratio also inched up to 19.1% from 18.5% in FY24. The increase includes a $5.3 billion valuation impact due to the appreciation of the US dollar against the rupee and other currencies. Excluding this effect, the underlying increase in debt was $72.9 billion, PTI reported. Breakdown of debt composition The non-financial corporate sector accounted for the largest share, borrowing $261.7 billion. Deposit-taking corporations excluding the central bank owed $202.1 billion, while the government's share of external debt stood at $168.4 billion. Long-term debt (with original maturity above one year) rose by $60.6 billion to $601.9 billion. Meanwhile, the share of short-term debt in total external liabilities declined to 18.3% from 19.1% a year ago. However, the ratio of short-term debt to foreign exchange reserves rose slightly to 20.1%, up from 19.7% at the end of FY24, the report said. Debt instruments and currency mix Loans remained the largest component of external debt, making up 34% of the total, followed by: Currency and deposits: 22.8% Trade credit and advances: 17.8% Debt securities: 17.7% The US dollar continued to dominate India's foreign borrowing, accounting for 54.2% of the total external debt. Other currencies in the debt mix included the Indian rupee (31.1%), Japanese yen (6.2%), Special Drawing Rights (4.6%), and euro (3.2%). STEP partners with Angkor Tiger FC for youth development programme
STEP, a division of The Hindu Group, will partner with the Youth Development and Academy teams of the Cambodian Premier League team Angkor Tiger Football Club based in the city of Siem Reap. Angkor Tiger currently competes in the top division, while the academy teams (U-16 and U-19) participate in the national Cambodian Youth League. As part of the partnership, STEP will provide training to the Academy's players, focusing on vital English language speaking and communication skills, which will be delivered via STEP's proprietary learning platform. The partnership will help young academy players develop their non-football skills with improved English language communication, and enhance their future employment prospects. PM Modi to visit five nations from July 2, attend Brics Summit in Brazil
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a five-nation visit from July 2, during which he will attend the Brics Summit and hold meetings with leaders of Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina and Namibia to strengthen bilateral ties. During the visit, PM Modi is expected to address the parliaments of Trinidad and Tobago and Namibia. The Prime Minister will start his five-nation visit with Ghana. This will be the Prime Minister's first bilateral visit to the African country. During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold talks with the President of Ghana to review the strong bilateral partnership and discuss further avenues to enhance it through economic, energy, and defence collaboration, and development cooperation partnership. This visit will reaffirm the shared commitment of the two countries to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen India's engagement with the ECOWAS [Economic Community of West African States] and the African Union, a Ministry of External Affairs release said. Visit of Indian Prime Minister to Ghana is taking place after three decades. PM Modi will travel to Brazil, during the fourth leg of his visit, from July 5 to 8 to attend the 17th Brics Summit 2025 followed by a state visit to the South American country. This will be PM Modi's fourth visit to Brazil. The 17th Brics Leaders' Summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro. During the Summit, PM Modi will exchange views on key global issues, including reform of global governance, peace and security, strengthening multilateralism, responsible use of artificial intelligence, climate action, global health, and economic and financial matters. The Prime Minister is also likely to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Summit. For the State Visit to Brazil, Prime Minister will travel to Brasilia where he will hold bilateral discussions with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the broadening of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, including trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health and people to people linkages. In the second leg of his visit, PM Modi will pay an official visit to Trinidad & Tobago (T & T) from July 3-4. This will be his first visit to the country as Prime Minister and the first bilateral visit at the Prime Ministerial level to T & T since 1999. During the visit, PM Modi will hold talks with the President of Trinidad & Tobago Christine Carla Kangaloo, and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and discuss further strengthening bilateral ties. PM Modi is also expected to address a Joint Session of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago. The visit of the Prime Minister to Trinidad and Tobago will impart fresh impetus to the deep-rooted and historical ties between the two countries, the MEA release said. PM Modi will visit Argentina in the third leg of his visit on July 4-5. Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Argentine President Javier Milei to review ongoing cooperation and discuss ways to enhance further bilateral partnership in key areas, including defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade and investment, and people-to-people ties. The bilateral visit of Prime Minister will further deepen the multifaceted Strategic Partnership between India and Argentina, the release said. In the final leg of his visit, PM Modi will embark on a State Visit to Namibia on July 9. This will be the first visit of the Prime Minister to Namibia, and the third ever Prime Ministerial visit from India to Namibia. During his visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, PM Modi will also pay homage to the Founding Father and first President of Namibia, Late Dr. Sam Nujoma. He is also expected to deliver an address at the Parliament of Namibia, the MEA release said. The visit of Prime Minister is a reiteration of India's multi-faceted and deep-rooted historical ties with Namibia,it added.
