Shark attacks have not been reported in Israel for decades.
Police spokesman Aryeh Doron said that 'several findings have been sent for examination', without specifying the nature of the recovered evidence.
Search operations continued Tuesday in the southeastern Mediterranean, near the area of the central city of Hadera where the swimmer had disappeared.
'The search area is very large, very complex, especially due to the danger posed by diving near sharks,' said Doron Elmashali, commander of the fire and rescue unit involved in the operation.

He said underwater cameras were being used in the operation.

Thailand 'deeply saddened' by death of Gaza hostage
Thailand 'deeply saddened' by death of Gaza hostage An Israeli military statement, which gave his name as Natthapong Pinta said its forces had retrieved his body from the Rafah. File photo: AFP Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday it was "deeply saddened" by the death of a Thai hostage in Gaza whose body was retrieved by Israeli forces. Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Nikorndej Balankura said in a video statement the ministry "is deeply saddened to announce that today, the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv was informed by a representative of the Israeli government that Mr Nattapong Pinta, the last Thai hostage, has been confirmed dead." An Israeli military statement, which gave his name as Natthapong Pinta, said on Saturday its forces had retrieved his body from the Rafah area of southern Gaza. It said he was taken alive as a hostage during Hamas's October 7, 2023, attack on Israel and "was murdered while in captivity". The Israeli military statement blamed the Mujahideen Brigades, an armed group close to Hamas ally Islamic Jihad. Nikorndej said Nattapong was one of three Thais held hostage in Gaza. The other two were confirmed dead in 2024 but Nikorndej said Israel has "not yet been able to retrieve their corpses". He said the Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv has contacted Nattapong's family to inform them and would work with the Israeli side to return his body to Thailand as soon as possible. (AFP)

Colorado attack suspect faces hate crime charges
Colorado attack suspect faces hate crime charges Police released a mug shot of the suspect Mohamed Sabry Soliman. Photo: Boulder Police Department The man suspected of a Molotov cocktail attack on Jewish protesters in Colorado was facing federal hate crime charges on Monday, with the government saying he was in the United States illegally. Mohamed Sabry Soliman is alleged to have thrown Molotov cocktails and sprayed burning gasoline in Boulder on Sunday at a gathering in support of Israeli hostages held by the Hamas armed group. Eight people were hurt in the attack -- four men and four women -- with the oldest reportedly being 88 years old. FBI agent Mark Michalek said the suspect used "a makeshift flamethrower" and "was heard to yell: 'Free Palestine,'" during the incident. An FBI affidavit said Soliman had been planning the assault for a year. "He stated that he wanted to kill all Zionist people and wished they were all dead," the affidavit says. "He hated this group and needed to stop them from taking over 'our land,' which he explained to be Palestine." Agents said they had found at least 14 unused Molotov cocktails and a backpack weed sprayer containing gasoline. US Homeland Security officials said he was in the country illegally, having overstayed a tourist visa, but that he had applied for asylum in September 2022. (AFP)

Man arrested after 'targeted' terror attack in Boulder
Man arrested after 'targeted' terror attack in Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn said the attack occurred in the vicinity of a walk to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza. Photo: Reuters Police said a male suspect was taken into custody on Sunday after an attack that injured multiple people in Boulder, Colorado, in what the FBI director described as a "targeted" act of terror. While stressing that the information was 'very preliminary,' Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn said that the man was apprehended following calls to the police dispatch of someone with a weapon who was 'setting people on fire.' Redfearn said he wasn't in a position to identify the suspect yet, noting that he'd been taken to the hospital. He said there were multiple injuries among the victims, ranging 'from very serious to more minor." The Boulder attack occurred in the vicinity of a walk to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza. FBI Director Kash Patel, in a statement, described the incident as a targeted terror attack and said agents were on the scene. Redfearn, however, said it was too early to speculate about a motive. 'We are not calling it a terror attack at this moment,' he said. 'This was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in downtown Boulder on Pearl Street and this act was unacceptable,' he said. 'I ask that you join me in thinking about the victims, the families of those victims, and everyone involved in this tragedy.' The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the United States over Israel's war in Gaza, which has spurred both an increase in antisemitic hate crime as well as moves by conservative supporters of Israel led by US President Donald Trump to brand pro-Palestinian protests as antisemitic.
