Happy with Josh Hazlewood return, but RCB have a quality squad: Assistant coach
RCB assistant coach Malolan Rangarajan has said that while the team is happy with the return of Josh Hazlewood, he believes the squad has enough talent this time around. Hazlewood has missed the last two games for RCB as he was nursing a shoulder issue and returned late from Australia. The pacer has arrived just ahead of the playoffs for Bengaluru as they aim for their first title in the IPL. Speaking at the pre-match press conference before the LSG game, Rangarajan said that during Hazlewood's absence, Lungi Ngidi stepped for the team and they have Nuwan Thushara waiting in the wings. The RCB assistant coach also said they have a good Indian pacer in the form of Rasikh Salam. advertisement"There is no doubt about how good Josh Hazlewood is as a player and what great impact he has had for us, but it is also important to remember in his absence, we played 2 games, we won 1 and we lost another, Lungi Ngidi had filled in very well and we believe in the strength of the whole squad, there is Nuwan Thushara who is chomping at the pits and even people forget that we have a very talented Indian pace bowler in Rasikh Salam, so while we are very happy about Hazlewood coming back to the squad, we and everybody needs to remember the quality that is existing within our playing squad," said Rangarajan.
Hazlewood has 18 wickets in 10 matches for RCB this season. 'Not going to dwell on the past game'advertisementRCB's last game in Lucknow saw them collapse from 173 for 4 to 189 all-out while chasing 230 against SRH. Rangarajan said that they have had honest conversations and won't be dwelling on the result. The RCB assistant coach said that they have hopefully addressed the issues ahead of the LSG game. "After every game, we sit down, we have our honest conversations, constructive feedback. What we need to understand and where Phil Salt is coming from is, when you are chasing 230, all you can ask from a batting unit is to set it up in a way where we are looking to chase 60 runs of the last five overs. And beyond that, whatever happened, we certainly could have done better. But again, I am not going to dwell into the result of what happened. We could have reacted better. We had a few issues that we had to deal with.""As far as what came out of the meeting, hopefully you will see that on the ground tomorrow. Like we had a few challenges in M Chinnaswamy Stadium when we played the first few games. I think we have thought of ways we can address what had gone wrong," said Rangarajan. RCB will face LSG on May 27 and a win will help them to reach the top two. Must Watch

Navjot Singh Sidhu Makes Rohit Sharma Captain Of His IPL 2025 Team Of The Season. Gets Trolled
Former India opening batter Navjot Singh Sidhu was brutally trolled by fans after he picked Rohit Sharma as captain of his IPL 2025 team of the season. Rohit ended the season with 415 in 15 matches as the Mumbai Indians (MI) bowed out of the tournament after losing to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2. The 38-year-old was MI's second-highest run-scorer behind Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 717 runs in 16 matches and was named 'Most Valuable Player' of IPL 2025. "Rohit Sharma, king of Mumbai. Why? Five IPL titles. One ICC T20 World Cup title. One Champions Trophy as well. So, he has achieved almost everything," Sidhu said in a video on his YouTube channel. Fans, however, weren't happy with Sidhu's pick as they pointed that Rohit didn't lead MI this season and was also not part of the official team of IPL 2025. Sidhu picked Virat Kohli as the other opener, alongside Rohit. Kohli won his first IPL title earlier this week, finishing the season with 657 runs in 15 innings, including eight half-centuries. Sidhu's team also featured the likes of Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Nicholas Pooran Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. In the bowling department, he picked Noor Ahmad as his specialist spinner, while Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, and Josh Hazlewood completed a three-man pace attack. Bengaluru Tragedy: Why India Keeps Suffering Stampedes
The writer served as DG of Uttarakhand police and is VC, Sports University of Haryana. The descent of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL celebration into tragedy last week, has once again underscored the perils of inadequate crowd management, a long-standing issue in a densely populated country like India. What should have been a moment of pride and festivity quickly descended into chaos, revealing critical gaps in planning, foresight, and execution. Managing large gatherings in India demands precision, coordination, and unwavering discipline. Khaleel Ahmed's fiery spell dismantles England Lions, puts India A on top in second unofficial Test
Khaleel Ahmed. New Delhi: Khaleel Ahmed's impressive four-wicket haul has given India A a significant advantage over the England Lions in the second unofficial Test at Northampton. Chennai Super Kings' bowlers dominated the day's play, starting with Khaleel Ahmed's impressive four-wicket haul, including the key dismissals of Jordan Cox, James Rew, and George Hill. Tushar Deshpande contributed two wickets, and Tanush Kotian, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Anshul Kamboj each claimed a wicket, helping restrict the opposition to 192/3. It was KL Rahul's century and a fine fifty by Dhruv Jurel that helped India A score 348. Although Rahul sat out the first warm-up match, he soon handled the conditions well in England, while Jurel kept scoring with another half-century. The Indian squad had a practice session at Lord's Cricket Ground. With head coach Gautam Gambhir and the new strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux, the team was able to use the indoor areas. Although Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah worked out by playing football and throwing to batsmen in bowling drills, the others concentrated on serious cricket exercises. That session was the team's first time practicing in London since their arrival.
