Kentucky basketball's Otega Oweh makes final NBA Draft decision
The post Kentucky basketball's Otega Oweh makes final NBA Draft decision appeared first on ClutchPoints. Kentucky basketball just got some good news about one of its key players, as they'll be returning to the team after withdrawing from the NBA Draft, according to ESPN's Jonathan Givony. Advertisement 'NEWS: Kentucky's Otega Oweh has withdrawn his name from the NBA draft and will return to the Wildcats for his senior season, agent Wilmer Jackson of Spencer Sports told ESPN. Massive news for Mark Pope to return his team's leading scorer from last season,' Givony wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Oweh posted on Instagram announcing that he would be returning for Kentucky. 'This year exceeded all my expectations,' Oweh said in the caption. 'Through all the highs and the lows, I found a family in Kentucky forever. So let's run it back: I'm staying home.' In his first season with Kentucky, Oweh averaged 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 35.5 percent from the perimeter. After the regular season, he was named a Second-Team All-SEC selection. Advertisement In their Round of 64 win over Troy, Oweh finished with 20 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals. With that statline, he became the first Kentucky player since Walter McCarty in 1996 to register 20+ points, 8+ rebounds, and 5+ assists in an NCAA Tournament game. Oweh had a season where he had 13 games of 20+ points, which also included a career-high 28 points and a game-winner against Oklahoma. With him coming back next season, Oweh can establish himself as a first-round pick going into the 2026 NBA Draft. He had a nice showing at the NBA Draft Combine, and hopefully, he was able to take some things away from that experience to bring back to his game in college. It will be interesting to see what Kentucky looks like next season, and Oweh will be a big part of how successful they can be moving forward in the program.

Celtics' Jaylen Brown played through partially torn meniscus (report)
While Jaylen Brown didn't go into specifics of the right knee issues he battled throughout the playoffs, as expected, more details are starting to come out with the Celtics eliminated. Brown finished the year and playoffs with a partially torn right meniscus, per ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. It was clear Brown wasn't 100% during the playoffs even though he had some solid nights playing through the injury. Brown will determine if surgery is needed sometime this week, per Shelburne. The Celtics lost in six games to the Knicks in the East semifinals. Brown averaged 22.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists, shooting 44.1% from the field, in 11 playoff games even with the meniscus tear. Advertisement 'We had a great group, we played well all year, so I think this probably stings even more,' Brown said after the Celtics' Game 6 loss to the Knicks. 'We just had some unfortunate events, some injuries. Personally, I had some stuff that I was persevering through, and it just caught up to us in the end.' News first came of Brown's knee issues during the regular season back in March. He took time off to get his right knee feeling better as it was described as a bone bruise. It was clear he was battling those issues down the stretch of the regular season. The last time he played in the regular season was April 8 against the Knicks, playing just 22 minutes. Brown sat the final three games of the year to rest his knee ahead of the playoffs. There were some nights where Brown still shined despite the injury. His excellent Game 5 against the Knicks kept the season alive, when he put up 26 points, eight rebounds and a career-high 12 assists. His night also included impressive defense guarding Knicks star Jalen Brunson. Advertisement But on the flip side, aside from the struggles, Brown just didn't have the same burst and explosiveness he's showcased throughout his career during the playoffs. Brown said part of why he played during the regular season was because he needed to see physically what he could and couldn't do on the court. The Celtics were hit by injuries and availability issues throughout the playoffs. Kristaps Porzingis' illness was well-documented as the big man wasn't the same during the Knicks series. Jayson Tatum's ruptured right Achilles tendon could be a franchise-altering moment as the C's enter an uncertain offseason. Add Brown's problematic knee to that list. 'Finishing in May feels weird,' Brown said. 'It's definitely not something we were prepared for. Obviously Jayson's injury. I'm sure there's a lot to process, just as everything this whole year. But we'll meet. We'll take a couple days. It's hard processing it all in real time, throwing all these questions at me, but I'm happy that our group stayed together. It was an honor to share the locker room with these guys.' More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.

ESPN predicts 2 Red Sox players to make All-Star team
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is quickly approaching and with voting open, fans can cast their ballot to try to send their favorite players to Atlanta. ESPN's David Schoenfield released his predictions for the American and National League teams and had two members of the Boston Red Sox representing the AL. Advertisement First, Schoenfield named Rafael Devers the starting designated hitter. After a rough start to 2025, Devers has settled in nicely at the DH position. The 28-year-old is batting .283 with 14 home runs and his 57 RBI leads the American League. Then Schoenfield named Garrett Crochet as one of the pitchers to reach the Midsummer Classic. Crochet, who was acquired by Boston in the offseason from the Chicago White Sox, has done everything asked of him in his first season with the Red Sox. Crochet was acquired to be the ace, and his numbers reflect he's done just that with a 2.35 ERA and 110 strikeouts — which is second in MLB — in 88 innings pitched. Aside from Devers and Crochet, there was no other Red Sox representation, but Schoenfield wrote that he believes any of Boston's outfielders are candidates. Wilyer Abreu landed on the injured list with an oblique strain after ESPN's story was published, but he could be back relatively quickly. Advertisement Jarren Duran made his first-career All-Star game last season and was named MVP of the game, while Ceddanne Rafaela has made Gold Glove-like plays throughout this season.
