On June 22, 2025, Iranian Channel 3 TV hosts reacted to the U.S. bombing of Iran's nuclear sites. Host Mahdi Khanalizadeh stated that Iran has total control over all American military bases in the region and that all U.S. personnel, military or civilian, are now legitimate targets. He said that the U.S. President 'chose to receive the coffins of 40,000 to 50,000 soldiers in Washington,' declaring that the time has come for America to be defeated in the region. He added that the next phase will be the annihilation of U.S. bases and the killing of what he called 'terrorist American personnel' in the region.
Fellow host Amir-Hossein Tahmasebi said that Iran's boundaries had been violated by America and that this will have consequences. He warned that the minimum response would be the bulldozing of American bases in Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, and Baghdad. He asserted that all U.S. forces and interests in the region are legitimate targets and within the range of Iran's precision missiles.

US issues new travel restrictions for 3 mideast countries

Shafaq News/ On Sunday, the US State Department issued new travel warnings for three Middle Eastern countries, including Iraq, amid concerns over potential Iranian retaliation following recent US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. A Level 4 travel advisory was announced, advising US citizens against traveling to Iraq for any reason. Simultaneously, family members of non-essential US personnel were ordered to leave Lebanon immediately. Earlier today, the US Embassy in Iraq confirmed to Shafaq News that additional staff departures are underway as a precaution amid rising regional tensions. Despite these measures, operations at the embassy in Baghdad and the consulate in Erbil continue without interruption. The State Department also highlighted growing 'anti-American sentiment,' warning it could lead to hostile actions targeting US and Western interests in Turkiye. These developments followed hours after the United States launched airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, which President Donald Trump described as 'precise and successful.'

Second Iran-Iraq FM meeting since regional escalation

Shafaq News/ On Sunday, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi to address the escalating regional tensions, especially the recent US strikes targeting key nuclear facilities in Iran. In a statement, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the talks — held on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul — marked the second meeting between the two ministers since the start of the current crisis. Araghchi outlined the consequences of the attacks in detail and confirmed that Tehran is preparing a series of retaliatory steps, revealing Iran's plan to request an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, backed by Russia. Hussein emphasized the need to activate the open-ended ministerial contact group—an Iraqi initiative under the OIC framework—aimed at containing the crisis, opening channels for dialogue, and paving the way for peaceful solutions to avert further escalation.

Secretory Rubio: World safer after US strikes on Iran

Shafaq News/ On Sunday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the world as 'safer and more stable'' today than it was 24 hours ago, referring to recent US strikes targeting nuclear sites in Iran. Speaking to Fox News, Rubio emphasized that the military actions do not constitute a war against Iran, warning that 'any Iranian retaliation would be the worst mistake Tehran could ever make.' He also underscored that Washington is not seeking regime change in Tehran, stressing that the door remains open for serious negotiations. ''Our offer still stands,'' he affirmed, cautioning that Iran will not be able to deceive President Donald Trump. Addressing regional tensions, he linked instability across the Middle East to Iran's activities, describing Tehran behind every problem in the Middle East, and further adding, 'If we are attacked by any of Iran's proxies, we will not only respond but hold Iran accountable as well.'
