Barrett joins Cambridge as assistant boss
Cambridge United have appointed former Southend United and Bristol Rovers defender Adam Barrett as assistant head coach.The 45-year-old previously worked under boss Neil Harris at Millwall and succeeded him temporarily as interim head coach following his 2019 resignation.He remained part of the coaching staff at the Championship club before leaving in December 2024."He is somebody I have known as a work colleague, assistant head coach and a competitor on the football pitch over many seasons," said Harris."I believe we have brought in the highest calibre candidate and personality to support me and the current staff. "He is a man with huge integrity, vast coaching experience and a real drive to develop players and win football matches."Cambridge are beginning a revamp of their squad following relegation to League Two and Barrett will work alongside Harris and director of football Mark Bonner as part of that process when he takes up his new role on 23 June."It's a club that wants to push on and move forward and that is reflected in the conversations I have had with Neil and Mark," he said."I want to be part of the journey. I think I can come in and really help and it's an exciting new challenge for myself."Meanwhile, there have also been changes in the boardroom at the Cledara Abbey Stadium, with Christoph Loch and Jenny Horsfield stepping down as directors.Loch had been a member of the board since 2016 and Horsfield since 2020."On behalf of all the board and our owners I would like to place on record our huge appreciation for Christoph and Jenny's very significant contribution," said chairman Shaun Grady."We will collectively reflect on how we can continue to develop and strengthen across the club at the board level and elsewhere."

Rather than utilise one of these paid services, consumers can submit timestamped complaints and claims themselves. Tools such as those on the MoneySavingExpert website can help people search for previous finance agreements, while the site also provides a template in order to draft a letter of complaint. With the Supreme Court set to make its judgement next month in regard to whether 'discretionary commission arrangements' (DCAs) were illegal in the first instance, the FCA is also advising finance firms on how they should calculate claims for disgruntled clients. The FCA is keen for a redress scheme to strike a balance between being fair to consumers, but at the same time not disrupting the market by putting finance firms out of business. In its latest release, the FCA says that the latter scenario could 'reduce competition and could make it more expensive for consumers to borrow money to buy a car in the future'. Such a scheme will fall under one of two arrangements: 'opt-in' and 'opt-out'. With the former – considered the most likely scenario – claimants would be required to notify their finance provider prior to a specified date if they wish to be considered for redress. 'Opt-out', on the other hand, would mean that everyone who is eligible will automatically be included, unless they contact their firm to be taken off the list. Consumers can expect the FCA to announce within six weeks of the Court's judgement in July as to whether a full redress scheme will be implemented, and how exactly it will operate. LADY Hilkka Brooking, the beloved wife of Club legend Sir Trevor, has died after battling with illness for "several months". Remembering his much-loved wife Sir Trevor thanked fans for their "kind" messages and thoughts. In an emotional tribute to his late wife Sir Trevor said: 'I want to thank people for their kind messages and thoughts. Newcastle confirm retained list with £15million signing released and two former England stars locked in contract talks
NEWCASTLE have confirmed that Jamal Lewis has been released. The left-back was a £15million signing from Norwich just five years ago. 1 Lewis, 27, made just 36 appearances for Newcastle over three season at the club.
