Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr's War 2: Whopping budget, world tours to Kiara Advani's first bikini shot. Watch
Fans finally got a glimpse of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's action-packed thriller War 2 on Tuesday after the makers unveiled the film's teaser. Going by the visuals, War 2 promises to be a high-octane, globe-trotting adventure, much like the other films in Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe. Apart from Hrithik and Jr NTR, the film also stars Kiara Advani in a lead role, and the actor made her presence felt in the teaser with her sensual avatar. The film also marks Jr NTR's debut in Hindi cinema. As chatter around the film gains momentum, here's everything we know about this Ayan Mukerji directorial.
A Lot of Firsts in War 2
While War 2 marks Jr NTR's debut in Hindi films, it also brings several other firsts. Kiara Advani, who shared the teaser on Instagram, mentioned that this is her first film with Yash Raj Films, her first collaboration with both Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, her first project with Ayan Mukerji, and also the first time she has shot a bikini scene — which was featured in the teaser. Not to mention, Hrithik Roshan appears even more dapper this time, sporting noticeably bigger triceps than he did in the previous film.
War 2's shooting reportedly concluded in December last year, and Jr NTR is said to have shot for 60 days for this YRF production. According to The Times of India, while the 2019 film War was made on a staggering budget of Rs 170 crore, the producers have now gone ahead and spent Rs 200 crore on War 2.
Jr NTR charged a whopping Rs 45 crore for his role in SS Rajamouli's Oscar-winning magnum opus RRR, as per GQ. However, for War 2, he reportedly lowered his fee to Rs 30 crore. Hrithik Roshan, on the other hand, is said to have charged Rs 48 crore, while Kiara Advani reportedly received Rs 15 crore for her role. Director Ayan Mukerji charged Rs 32 crore for helming the film.
The teaser of War 2 makes it abundantly clear that it's going to be a globe-trotting adventure. A report in Pinkvilla revealed that the film was shot across six countries over a period of 150 days. Locations include Spain, Italy, Abu Dhabi, Japan, Russia, and India. It was also revealed that the film will feature a dance face-off between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. This song sequence has not been shot yet and is scheduled to be filmed in June with both actors.
War 2 is set to cash in on the Independence Day holiday, releasing on August 14 — just a day before the national holiday. With Jr NTR starring in the film, the makers are clearly aiming to appeal to a pan-India audience. Whether the film will be able to compete with its predecessors in the YRF Spy Universe — Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), and Pathaan (2023) — only time will tell.

R Madhavan Says Pee Scene In Shaitaan Made Him Uncomfortable: ‘Had To Make It Disgusting'
Last Updated: R Madhavan says he felt deeply uncomfortable filming the urination scene in Shaitaan and reveals how he used a blanket to avoid looking and change the tone. R. Madhavan, who chillingly portrayed the antagonist in the psychological horror hit Shaitaan, recently opened up about the emotional and psychological toll of certain intense scenes from the film. In a new promotional interaction with Kajol for her upcoming horror film Maa, Madhavan reflected on one particular moment that left him deeply unsettled on set. The conversation, shared by JioStudios on YouTube, saw Kajol asking Madhavan if there were any scenes in Shaitaan that felt too disturbing or realistic to perform. Madhavan candidly responded, referencing a scene in which his character forces his on-screen daughter to dance all night, resulting in her wetting herself out of sheer physical strain. 'It was a very sensitive scene," Madhavan said. 'There's this moment where I make my daughter dance through the night. She reaches a point where she can't hold it anymore and urinates. In the original version of the film, the approach to the scene was different. But here, I realized that even as a villain, if I looked at her during that moment, it would send out a completely different message. I needed the audience to feel disgust—not pity or justification." Madhavan explained how he changed his physical performance to reflect that discomfort. 'So, I wrapped myself in a blanket, deliberately avoiding looking at her. That decision not only worked for the character but gave me relief as an actor. I could step away emotionally while still staying true to the role. I simply tell the mother, 'Can you go help your daughter?'" He further added, 'There were many such moments during filming that made me deeply uncomfortable. But I had to find ways to stay authentic while protecting myself emotionally." Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, is the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash. It stars Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala alongside Madhavan in a dark and sinister role. The film, which follows a family held hostage by a mysterious man who exerts mind control over their daughter, was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore at the Indian box office. Madhavan's raw honesty adds another layer to a performance that was already haunting—showing how even seasoned actors have to wrestle with the moral and emotional weight of their roles, especially in films that tread psychological depths.
