Richard Whiffin has named Dragons No 8 Evan Minto as his new Wales U20s captain for this Friday's clash with England U20s in Pontypool.
Openside flanker Harry Beddall captained the side for the Six Nations but Minto has been given the honour for this U20s World Cup warm-up match against England.

Wales pulled off a stunning victory over England in the final game of the U20s Six Nations at the Arms Park in March and repeating that would give Whiffin's side a major confidence boost.

Minto is part of a new-look back row which includes Dragons' team-mate Ryan Jones and Gloucester flanker Caio James.
The 19-year-old had an impressive Six Nations campaign and Whiffin had no hesitation in handing over the captaincy responsibilities in place of Beddall, who will start from the bench. 'He is a very emotional leader but I think, alongside our tactical leaders in the squad, he will get the balance right,' said Whiffin. 'He is a local Pontypool guy plus we wanted to see a slightly different back row. From the performances he put in during the Six Nations, he has certainly put his hand up for the captaincy role.'

Wales kick-off their World Cup campaign with a tough match against Argentina but first face warm-ups against England in Pontypool and Italy at the Arms Park.
Ospreys full-back Lewis Edwards is an exciting player to watch out for, with Bristol's Aidan Boshoff and Ioan Duggan joining him in the backrow.
Elis Price and Elijah Evans form a potent midfield partnership with Sion Davies at scrum-half and Harri Ford wearing number 10.

In the pack Cam Tyler-Grocott, Sam Hurley and Owain James form a strong front-row with Dan Gemine and Kenzie Jenkins in the second-row. Join WalesOnline Rugby's WhatsApp Channel here to get the breaking news sent straight to your phone for free
'We've had guys in camp for three weeks working super hard and they deserve an opportunity,' said Whiffin. 'We said to the group at the start of the campaign we were going to use it as a selection game in terms of whittling the squad down from 45 down to 30 so there will be guys playing on Friday night putting their hands up for the plane ticket to Italy. 'So pressure goes onto those guys but ultimately if they can perform on Friday in a big game against England then it sets them up well for the World Cup.' Tottenham sack manager Postecoglou

LONDON, June 6 (Reuters) - Tottenham Hotspur have sacked manager Ange Postecoglou, the club said on Friday, despite the Australian guiding the club to their first major trophy in 17 years with victory in the Europa League final last month. Postecoglou will leave two years to the day after his appointment. Spurs beat Manchester United in Bilbao to win the Europa League and book their place in next season's Champions League, but a dismal domestic campaign ultimately cost Postecoglou his job. "The Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place," Spurs said in a statement. "Following a positive start in the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games. This culminated in our worst-ever PL finish last season. "At times there were extenuating circumstances - injuries and then a decision to prioritise our European campaign. Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club's greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph." Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League last season, fuelling pressure on the 59-year-old in his second year at the helm.

UK visa issues rule Hosein out of West Indies' T20 opener in England

June 6 (Reuters) - West Indies' left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein has been ruled out of the opening match of their three-match Twenty20 series against England after he and fellow Trinidadian Jyd Goolie were unable to meet visa requirements. The first T20 match takes place at the Riverside Ground in Durham on Friday and the players could potentially miss the entire series. West Indies Cricket (CWI) said on Friday that the updated UK visa entry requirements for Trinidad and Tobago citizens, which came into effect on April 23 and May 12 required both players to submit visa applications and attend mandatory in-person appointments. CWI director Miles Bascombe explained that Hosein, who was selected for both the England and Ireland legs of the tour, could not fulfil the new visa requirements in time as he was playing in the Pakistan Super League, which wrapped up late due to the India-Pakistan conflict last month. Goolie, who was a late addition to the squad, "was unable to secure the required visa waiver, as the transition period for Trinidad and Tobago residents had already expired." "These processes are ultimately governed by UK immigration authorities and remain outside of CWI's control," the board said. "CWI remains optimistic that the matter will be resolved in the coming days, allowing Hosein to join the squad for the remaining matches."

Ollie Watkins withdraws from England squad as precaution over minor injury

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has withdrawn from the England squad due to a minor injury. Thomas Tuchel's side are preparing for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Andorra in Barcelona before hosting Senegal in a friendly at the City Ground on Tuesday. Watkins was part of England's training camp in Spain this week but the Football Association has confirmed the 18-cap Euro 2024 semi-final hero will play no part in the June double-header. 'Ollie Watkins will play no part in England's forthcoming fixtures against Andorra and Senegal,' read an update from the governing body. 'The Aston Villa striker has withdrawn from the squad as a precaution due to a minor injury. 'A 25-man squad will now continue preparations for Saturday's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at RCDE Stadium in Barcelona.'
