Vote held on mural at center of tensions between Bentonville City Council, biking group
BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The city of Bentonville discusses the future of a mural that's causing some criticism due to inconsistencies in the original plans.
The city council voted May 10 to authorize a resolution accepting the work called 'All Bikers Welcome,' removing any language that is not the artist's signature and adding signage that describes the work.
Bentonville mural facing criticism from city
The mural was painted by the group All Bikes Welcome. According to a statement from a city council member, the group ventured off the original artwork, which was approved by the public art committee, the parks and recreation committee and the city council.
The group said in May that it was frustrated due to a lack of communication between it and the city.

‘Jane' to return to the stand in Sean ‘Diddy' Combs' trial
Update: Date: 3 min ago Title: Judge and attorneys meet in robing room Content: Judge Arun Subramanian, lead counsel and Jane's attorney are now meeting in the judge's robing room. Update: Date: 7 min ago Title: Judge bars defense from playing Combs' December 2023 audio message to Jane for jury Content: Defense attorney Teny Geragos sought to play for the jury an audio message Sean 'Diddy' Combs sent to Jane, one of his accusers testifying under a pseudonym, in December 2023, in which he said he never knew how she felt about 'hotel nights.' Assistant US Attorney Maurene Comey argued that by December 2023, after Cassie Ventura's lawsuit became public, Combs was aware of the record he was creating in his communications with Jane and may have been crafting a self-serving false narrative in the recording. Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that the recording cannot be admitted, but Geragos may ask Jane what Combs told her about his awareness of her feelings regarding 'hotel nights' in December 2023. Update: Date: 1 min ago Title: Lawyers debate text messages before jury comes in Content: Before the jurors come in, the lawyers are debating more text messages that defense attorney Teny Geragos wants to show the jury. Those messages are between Sean 'Diddy' Combs and 'Jane,' one of Combs' accusers who is testifying under a pseudonym and is expected to get back on the stand today under cross-examination. This will be Jane's sixth day on the stand. Jane, who dated Combs from 2021 to 2024 and is referred to in Combs' indictment as 'Victim-2,' began testimony under direct examination by the prosecution on June 5. Cross-examination of Jane began Tuesday. Update: Date: 40 min ago Title: Judge is on the bench Content: Judge Arun Subramanian is now on the bench ahead of today's testimony. Update: Date: 1 hr 2 min ago Title: Here's what happened in court yesterday Content: 'Jane,' one of Sean 'Diddy' Combs' accusers who is testifying under a pseudonym, continued her cross-examination yesterday. Before the jury was seated, the judge said he is considering whether to dismiss juror No. 6 and that he'll handle the issue tomorrow after hearing from both sides. The prosecutors said that upon review, they found there 'appeared to be a lack of candor with the court' from the juror. Here's what Jane said. Jane's cross-examination is expected to continue this morning.

Lapham's Quarterly Will Begin Its Revival with Website and Podcast
The literary journal Lapham's Quarterly is relaunching its website and podcast this summer under the editorial guidance of the writers Donovan Hohn and Francine Prose — a fortuitous and surprising turn for a magazine that seemed on the brink of extinction. Starting this week, Lapham's will revive its weekly podcast, 'The World in Time.' In coming days, new online features and editorial commentary will be published on its website, including installments of the quarterly's centerpiece section, 'Voices in Time,' which showcases provocative writing from historical figures, philosophers and thinkers. The first podcast episode, due out this Friday, will be hosted by Hohn, and will include audio clips from a keynote address that the journal's founder, Lewis Lapham, gave in 2011 at Bard College, a prescient speech about the urgent need for truth telling. Another episode airing on Saturday is devoted to memorializing Lapham, who died last summer at the age of 89. It will feature recorded audio from his memorial service, where notable authors and artists spoke, among them Alec Baldwin, Christopher Lloyd, Oskar Eustis and Ben Metcalf. Next year, editors hope to restart production of print issues. Elaborately designed, they revolved around a single broad theme, like youth, war, money or happiness, and featured long-form articles, essays and excerpts from historical texts. (Famous bylines included Thucydides, Shakespeare, Virginia Woolf and Sun Tzu.) In a media landscape where most publications are relentlessly chasing breaking news and online trends, Lapham's seemed almost defiantly averse to following the news cycle. When Lapham founded the publication in 2007, his goal was 'to bring the voices of the past up to the microphone of the present,' he later told The New York Times. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Bruce Springsteen's Blockbuster Albums Storm The Charts Together
Bruce Springsteen is spending the summer traveling around Europe, performing dates on his Land of Hope and Dreams tour. The trek began two years ago under the name Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 2023–2025 Tour, but when he picked up the guitar again in mid-May, he later renamed the venture and brought it to the United Kingdom. Springsteen and company recently played dates in Liverpool, marking his return to the nation, and this move has spurred a buying frenzy of his catalog. Half a dozen of Springsteen's albums appear on at least one chart apiece in the U.K. this week. Four of those titles return to the rankings, becoming bestselling releases once more. Born in the USA is the only one of Springsteen's titles that returns to a sales list and appears inside the top 40. The early-career classic breaks back onto the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 35. It also lands at No. 79 on the Official Albums Sales list after not appearing on that tally at all just a few days ago. Greatest Hits also reappears on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, where it can be found at Nos. 49 and 83, respectively. At the same time, the compilation rockets from No. 80 to No. 7 on the Official Album Downloads ranking – reaching a new high point in the process. Yet another compilation, titled simply Best Of, jumps back onto both the Official Albums Streaming list and the Official Albums chart. On those tallies, the compilation can be found at Nos. 84 and 93, respectively. Springsteen's catalog is so popular that one collection of smash singles isn't enough for the nation. The River is the only one of Springsteen's comebacks that doesn't make a home on several rankings. This time around, it only reenters the Official Album Downloads chart, where it comes in at No. 72. In addition to his quartet of returning favorites, one of Springsteen's oldest projects — his breakout set Born to Run — manages to debut on the downloads-only tally. The career-making set launches at No. 92, decades after it was first unveiled to the world.
