6 Egyptian Expats Arrested for Stealing and Dismantling Vehicles

Arab Times08-04-2025

KUWAIT CITY, April 8: As part of the ongoing efforts by the Criminal Security Sector to combat crime and apprehend offenders, the General Department of Criminal Investigations—represented by the Ahmadi Governorate Investigations Department—has successfully arrested a gang of six Egyptian nationals involved in professional vehicle theft.
The gang was found to be stealing vehicles from open yards across various areas and transporting them to a garage located in the Salmi Scrapyard. There, the stolen vehicles were dismantled and sold as spare parts. To eliminate evidence of their crimes, the remaining vehicle bodies were compressed and destroyed.
The arrest followed the receipt of accurate intelligence regarding suspicious activities by a gang specializing in vehicle theft. Detectives launched a thorough investigation, which led to the identification and surveillance of the suspects. They were subsequently arrested, and multiple stolen vehicles along with various spare parts were discovered in their possession.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang operated primarily during late-night hours, towing vehicles from dirt yards and moving them to the Salmi scrapyard for dismantling.
The suspects, along with the seized items, have been referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal procedures.
The Ministry of Interior reiterates its commitment to pursuing all those who violate the law and to take decisive action against anyone who threatens the safety and security of the nation, its citizens, and its residents. The Ministry also urges the public to cooperate with security forces and report any suspicious behavior or activities through official channels to help safeguard society.

Colorado Attack Suspect Lived in Kuwait for 17 Years

COLORADO, June 3: Mohamed Sabry Soliman, the 45-year-old Egyptian man accused of carrying out a violent attack at a pro-Israel rally in Boulder, Colorado, had previously lived in Kuwait for 17 years before relocating to the United States, U.S. prosecutors revealed. Soliman moved to Colorado Springs three years ago with his wife and five children, reportedly so his daughter could pursue a medical education—an opportunity he believed was unavailable in Kuwait. According to CNN, Soliman had worked as an accountant in Kuwait and maintained a Facebook profile that featured images supporting the Muslim Brotherhood's protests against the 2013 ousting of Egypt's former president, Mohamed Morsi. Authorities say Soliman spent a year meticulously planning the attack, delaying it until after his daughter's high school graduation. A report in the Colorado Springs Gazette earlier this year profiled a scholarship recipient who closely matched the description of Soliman's daughter. In her application, she wrote about her family's immigration journey from Kuwait to the U.S. and described how her father underwent a 'difficult surgery' that restored his ability to walk—an event that inspired her to pursue medicine. When questioned by investigators, Soliman admitted to researching how to construct Molotov cocktails on YouTube and selecting his target group through online sources. On the day of the attack, he reportedly left a hidden iPhone in his home office containing personal messages and a diary. Disguised as a gardener in a yellow safety vest and carrying a bouquet, he approached the rally site to launch his assault. Bystanders captured video footage of Soliman after the attack, shirtless and yelling slogans such as 'Free Palestine' and 'Stop the Zionists' before being apprehended by police. He now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, assault, possession of an incendiary device, and a federal hate crime. The FBI has classified the attack as an act of domestic terrorism. 'He stated he had no regrets and would do it again,' said J. Bishop Gruwell, Colorado's Interim U.S. Attorney. A police detective noted in court documents that Soliman had told authorities, 'He had to do it… and would not forgive himself if he didn't.' If convicted, Soliman faces a life sentence.

From Housewife to Doctor: Indian Woman Busted for Running Illegal Clinic in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 31: As part of the Ministry of Interior's continued efforts to combat unlawful practices and safeguard public health, the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Investigations Department in Farwaniya Governorate and the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Investigations Unit, has arrested an Indian national for illegally practicing medicine. The arrest came during a crackdown on illicit activities in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. Investigators discovered that the woman, officially registered as a "housewife," was operating an unlicensed clinic and treating patients without legal authorization. She was apprehended while examining a child. A search of the premises uncovered a cache of medical supplies, including a blood pressure monitor, stethoscope, assorted medications, and infant formula distributed exclusively by the Ministry of Health. Authorities also found capsules containing so-called 'folk remedies' prepared by the suspect and dispensed without any medical oversight. During interrogation, the woman admitted to practicing medicine without any formal medical qualifications or a license from the relevant authorities. She also confessed to importing some of the medications from abroad and purchasing others from local pharmacies. The accused has been referred to the appropriate legal authorities for further action.

Fake Accounts and Stolen Identities: Nepali Fraudster Caught in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 28: In a continued crackdown on financial crimes, the Financial Crimes Combating Department of Kuwait's Criminal Security Sector has arrested a Nepalese national accused of involvement in a sophisticated bank fraud operation. The suspect was wanted in connection with two cases — No. 2253/2024 and No. 2234/2024 — both related to banking fraud. Authorities uncovered the scam after discovering that the suspect had been purchasing bank cards and SIM cards from individuals within his community. During a precautionary search, officers seized eight bank cards and four SIM cards from his possession. Upon interrogation, he confessed to possessing additional items at his residence. A subsequent search led to the confiscation of 12 more bank cards, 16 SIM cards, and a number of bank documents and blank SIM cards. The suspect admitted that he supplied these cards to an accomplice who shipped them abroad for use in fraudulent schemes aimed at stealing money from unsuspecting victims. The accused has been referred to the Public Prosecution, and legal action is underway. Investigations are being expanded, and authorities are coordinating with international counterparts to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in the operation.
