Burger King Employee Gifted Over $40K In Donations After Working On Graduation Day
A Georgia teenager has been gifted over $40K, and counting, in GoFundMe donations after working a Burger King shift in his graduation clothes.
Eighteen-year-old Mykale Baker of Georgia, had every reason to celebrate on May 21. The Mills Creek High School senior had just walked across the graduation stage, donning medals earned through years of hard work.
But instead of heading to parties or family gatherings like many of his peers, Baker reported to his late-night shift at Burger King — still in his graduation attire, minus the robe.
His quiet act of dedication didn't go unnoticed. Maria Mendoza, a fellow Mills Creek parent whose daughter graduated that same day, happened to be a customer that night.
Struck by the young man's work ethic, she recorded a 20-second TikTok video of him bagging orders behind the counter. The clip quickly went viral, racking up over three million views and inspiring Mendoza to start a GoFundMe campaign for Baker.
'While many graduates spent the night celebrating with friends and family, one young man quietly showed the world what determination looks like,' Mendoza wrote on GoFundMe. 'Just after receiving his diploma—still proudly wearing his medals—he reported to his shift at Burger King.'
'He didn't do it for attention. He doesn't even know his story went viral. But thousands of people were moved by his dedication, humility, and work ethic,' she added.
Mendoza later told 11 Alive, 'His dedication and quiet strength really moved me. I felt called to do something to recognize that. I'm just grateful I got to do something for him.'
On May 26, Mendoza surprised Baker with the donations raised, bringing both him and his mother to tears — a moment that was also shared on TikTok. The emotional reveal served as a reminder of how a simple act of commitment can ripple across the internet and touch countless lives.
Baker, who hopes to attend trade school and study mechanics, was deeply moved by the outpouring of support.
'Thank you so much, I was thinking of taking a gap year because I didn't have money for school, but thank you to all of you now, I might actually go straight to technical college and get my mechanical,' he said to Mendoza's TikTok followers.
'I never thought this would happen to me, I'm very thankful,' Baker added, fighting through tears. The moment was the culmination of a feel-good story that reminds us that work ethic and hustle doesn't go unnoticed and can be rewarded when we least expect it.
VIBE extends our congratulations to Mykale Brown and the rest of the graduates of the Class of '25.

Bloody Handprints, 3 Slain Sisters: What We Know About Missing Dad Accused of Killing Them
Travis Decker is wanted after being accused of murdering his three young daughters The sisters - Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5 - were found dead on Monday Decker remains at large as local authorities continue to search for him in WashingtonTravis Decker remains at large as police in Wenatchee, Wash., and the surrounding area continue their multi-day manhunt for the missing father suspected of killing his three young girls over the weekend. Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5, were found dead on Monday, June 2 near the Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Wash., after authorities tracked down their father's abandoned car near where their bodies were discovered, PEOPLE previously reported. Decker, a former military man, remains on the loose according to local authorities, who provided a description of the father over the weekend as the search began. Here's what we know. The Wenatchee Police Department said in a statement over the weekend that Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia were all supposed to be with their father for a planned visitation over the weekend. 'The visitation was part of a parenting plan, but he has since gone outside the parameters of it which is not normal and cause for the alarm,' police said. The girls were last seen on May 30 and found dead on Monday, June 2, two days after police first launched their public manhunt. Police have said the 32-year-old Decker has former military experience and should be approached carefully, PEOPLE previously reported. 'It is unknown whether Decker is currently armed, but he may pose a significant risk,' police said in a statement in recent days. The Wenatchee Police Department said in its May 31 missing persons alert that Decker has recently been 'homeless and living in his vehicle or at various hotels/motels or at campgrounds in the area.' At 5-foot-8 and 190 pounds, Decker was last seen wearing a light shirt and dark shorts. He was also most recently wearing his black hair in a ponytail, according to police. Authorities discovered Decker's pickup truck near the Rock Island Campground in Leavenworth, Wash., where the three sisters' bodies were discovered, local Fox 13 reported. According to the outlet, investigators found two bloody handprints on Decker's truck while inside there were items like a blanket, food, and car seats for the girls. Police also discovered a wallet on the center console of the vehicle, according to Fox 13. Court documents obtained by the outlet also say that Decker's cell phone activity showed "he drove to and left the same campground a day prior to the kidnapping.' Decker has since been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of kidnapping, police have said. He is also facing custodial interference charges. A GoFundMe page set up for the girls' mother, Whitney Decker, has described the girls' deaths as 'heartbreaking.' "We are heartbroken to share that the girls have since passed ... the pain of this loss is immeasurable," organizer and friend Amy Edwards wrote. "I've known Whitney for years, we're both dance moms and theater friends [and I've] had the privilege of teaching Whitney's girls." The GoFundMe has raised nearly $400,000 in recent days. Edwards says the 'funds raised will go directly to Whitney to help cover final expenses, support time off from work, and give her space to heal without financial pressure.' 'Thank you for keeping Whitney and her girls in your hearts,' the family friend added. Read the original article on People

Kylie Jenner Shared Her Exact Boob Job Details—Here's What They Mean
Kylie Jenner used to be secretive about her plastic surgery procedures and tweakments—who can forget when she denied lip filler rumors up until 2015? But now that Jenner is older and society's views on cosmetic surgery have changed, the Khy founder has turned into an open book. Case in point: A fan recently took to TikTok to ask Jenner about the details behind her breast augmentation. 'Girl, please can you just tell us what it is that you asked for when you had your boobs done,' the TikToker Rachel Leary said in a video. She goes on to call it the most 'perfect, natural-looking boob job ever.' Jenner herself commented on the TikTok with the details: '445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!! Silicone!!! Garth Fisher!!! Hope this helps lol.' If you're wondering what exactly that means—for your own knowledge or because you're hoping to take Jenner's words to your plastic surgeon—we spoke with a few experts to break it all down: '445 cc is the size, measured by volume,' says John Diaz, MD, a Beverly Hills-based board-certified plastic surgeon. 'A 'cc' means cubic centimeters.' A large implant is often considered to be anything over 400 cc, so 445 cc is a fairly substantial augmentation. While it can't be directly translated to a new cup size (as it depends what you're starting with), you can expect a 445 cc implant to add close to two cup sizes to your initial breast volume. When you're getting a breast augmentation, the 'profile' is how much the implant juts out from your chest while you're standing. 'When it comes to profiles, there are different types, such as low, moderate, and high, which are decided upon based on the patient's anatomy and the goal they're trying to achieve,' explains Lyle Leipziger, MD, chief of plastic surgery at North Shore University Hospital and LIJ Medical Center. A moderate profile breast implant is typically considered one of the most natural profiles to get, and will have slightly more projection than a low-profile implant but look more natural than some of the higher-profile options. 'Many breast augmentations today are dual plane, meaning part under the muscle and part under the lower breast tissue,' Leipziger adds. In a dual plane breast augmentation, the upper part of the breast implant is inserted below the pectoral muscle, while the lower part is just under the breast tissue. 'Half under the muscle' is considered one of the most natural-looking placement methods. When Jenner says 'silicone,' she's talking about the material of the implant she used. There are many different options, including saline implants (which are filled with salt water), gummy bear implants (which are thicker than traditional silicone implants), and silicone implants (which Jenner has). Silicone implants are filled with silicone gel and are meant to feel the most like natural breast tissue. 'This implant is likely an Allergan implant, which is the most common implant used at our facility,' says Oren Tepper, MD, board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Greenwich Street 497. 'One of the advantages of Allergan implants are the three cohesive [silicone] gel options, which provide a natural feel and look, and the wide range of options provided, which can be tailored to each patient's specific anatomy.' Word to the wise: If you want silicone implants too, you may need to have more check-ups with your doctor to get an MRI to make sure the silicone isn't leaking into your body. In a world where plastic surgery is becoming increasingly common, Jenner's transparency is refreshing—and makes talking to your own plastic surgeon about what you want just a little bit easier.

'More than a hero': Man drowns while trying to save child in Tennessee
A 31-year-old man died while trying to save a young child at risk of being swept away in a river in Tennessee. Thaddeus Smiley, 31, was among a group of 11 people hanging out on a sandbar in the middle of Wolf River in Memphis just before 2 p.m. May 30, when a child started struggling to swim, prompting Smiley and another man to jump into the water to save the child, Shelby County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner said in a press conference. While the child and the other rescuer made it out of the water uninjured, Smiley wasn't as fortunate and got caught up in the current. A search and rescue operation involving more than 100 first responders and volunteers was launched and continued for three days over the weekend before Smiley's body was eventually located about half a mile from where he went into the water on June 1. Six boat teams from multiple agencies and three drone teams were deployed in the search operation that covered over 8 miles of the river from Walnut Grove to Hollywood overpass, while Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency patrolled the river with three sonar teams scanning the riverbed using specialized equipment. A sheriff's office dive team was also engaged in the operation, which was challenging and dangerous due to the current moving at about six miles an hour, Buckner said. Buckner, in a follow-up press conference, after Smiley's body was located, said the sheriff's office has launched an investigation into his death and that "detectives will be going over statements, what occurred before this incident happened, so we can piece together all that happened and provide some additional closure for the Smiley family." Smiley was the nephew of Memphis City Councilman JB Smiley Jr. "We wanted my nephew to come back to us safely more than anything in the world," JB Smiley Jr. said at the June 1 press conference. "We didn't get the result we wanted, but we got something that was deeply important to every single person that uses the Smiley name. Our family member, our beloved Thaddeus Smiley, is back with us. He's no longer in the river. We know exactly where he is." Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris, in a statement, lauded Smiley for his bravery, calling him "a hero in every sense of the word." "He was an incredible young man, someone with the type of courage we should also wish we could emulate," he added. "My prayers are with the Smiley family." Smiley's family has set up a GoFundMe page to cover funeral and memorial expenses, and to support the family "during this painful time." The GoFundMe, set up by Javarious Smiley, on behalf of the Smiley family, noted Thaddeus "made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save our 10-year-old nephew who was struggling in the waters of the Wolf River." "Without hesitation, he dove in to help — because that's who he was. Brave. Selfless. Compassionate," the GoFundMe said. "Thaddeus was more than a hero that day — he was a loving brother, a son, a friend, and a beacon of light in our lives. He showed us what true courage looks like." The GoFundMe with a goal of $6.5K had raised more than $4,000 as of June 4. "Thaddeus's legacy of love, strength, and sacrifice will never be forgotten," the GoFundMe said. "Help us honor him the way he deserves." Buckner, during the press conference, also stressed on the dangers of Wolf River and the importance of teaching young people to swim. "I want to take this opportunity to speak about water safety," Buckner said. "We know this time of year, families, particularly children, are involved in a lot of different water activities, so we want to encourage parents to start making some decisions about lessons." Buckner urged the public to wear appropriate swimming gear such as life-saving vests to avoid such incident and highlighted the dangers of the Wolf River. "The Wolf River is very unpredictable for the most experienced people," Buckner said. "We want parents to take this opportunity to have serious conversations and make critical decisions about water safety, and the right or appropriate equipment where you going to be out on the water." The deputy added: "Not a single person who been recovered out of Wolf River since 2013 has been wearing a life jacket. So, our plea to the public (is) anytime you are around swift or unfamiliar water, such as the Wolf River, bring some type of life saving jackets."
