Apple Music gets AI-powered AutoMix functionality, lyrics translation (at last!), and more
If you blinked during Apple's jam-packed WWDC 2025 keynote today, you probably missed the blazing fast rundown of the tech giant's latest music streaming features, so allow me to offer you a few details on what's coming.
The coolest new Apple Music functionality is undoubtedly AutoMix, which uses AI (naturally) for a personal DJ experience, claiming to do time stretching and beat matching at the "perfect moment" to seamlessly switch from one song to the next. As nice as that sounds, of course, it might be wise to wait and see how the transitions work between vastly different genres before getting too excited.
What you can probably get super-excited about without fearing the technology will not work as advertised are the Lyrics Translation and Lyrics Pronunciation tools... that other streaming platforms have already integrated (with varying degrees of effectiveness). Something tells me Apple waited this long to improve your home karaoke performance to get these features just right, and in the (very) short clip used to hype them up, they definitely look as impressive as expected. Last but not necessarily least on today's list of announced Apple Music updates, "Music pins" will, well, allow you to pin playlists, albums, and artists at the top of your Library tab to gain easier access to the stuff you're most interested in, which... is likely to sound awfully familiar to YouTube Music devotees.

Vivo's upcoming phone has the slimmest 3D curved screen in its segment

That means that many PR teams are struggling to put their products in the spotlight for more than a day. What really helps is if your new phone has something that no other phone has, or at least not many have. But innovation is not really the most important aspect when we're talking about an affordable or mid-range phone, which is why the next best thing for your not-flagship smartphone is to be the best in its price range at something. Vivo's Y400 Pro is supposed to feature the slimmest 3D curved screen in its segment. The phone hasn't been announced, so we don't know the numbers yet, but the key specs of the Y400 Pro, along with an image showing its back side, have just been leaked. Judging from the list of specifications, the Y400 Pro is a standard mid-range phone . It's powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset and features a dual-camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 main sensor and a 2-megapixel bokeh lens. It also comes with a more than decent 32-megapixel selfie snapper. Vivo says the Y400 Pro's camera will offer various features like multifocal portrait and 4K video recording (for both front and rear cameras). Besides that, a bunch of AI-related features are included such as AI Transcript Assist, AI Superlink, AI Note Assist, Circle to search with Google, AI Screen Translation, Vivo Live Call Translation, and AI Live Text. We don't know the resolution and refresh rate yet, but it's going to be a curved-edge Vivo mentions in the leaked specs sheet that the Y400 Pro packs a 5,500 mAh battery that supports 90W wired charging speeds. The phone will also feature IR blaster and will come in two memory configurations: 8/128GB and 8/256GB. Yes, the Y400 Pro might feature the ' slimmest 3D curved screen ' in its segment, but we don't know yet how much the phone will cost yet. However, we do know the phone is just 7.49mm thick and comes in three different colors: gold, purple, and white.

Useful changes made to the Google Messages app
Back in April we told you that Google was considering an update to the Google Messages app that would allow users to write and view up to 14 lines of text in the text field without having to scroll up or down. That would be a huge improvement over the current four lines of text that Google Messages allows users to read at one time. Yesterday, Google disseminated the update bringing the 14-line text field to Google Messages. I did receive the expanded text box in a beta version of the Google Messages app on my Pixel 6 Pro running Android 16 QPTR1 Beta 1. With the bigger field, users can type longer URLs allowing the recipient of a text to view the entire address at one time. In addition, tapping on the Gallery feature on the Google Messages app brings up a fullscreen viewfinder. Let's say you want to send a photo via the Google Messages app. Tap the recipient's text address and from the text field, tap on the "+" icon (found inside a circle) on the left of the field. Press "Gallery" and you'll see that fullscreen view from your phone's rear camera. Previously, you could swipe the screen up to see a halfscreen view including a small live viewfinder at the top of the sheet. At the bottom is a grid of recent photos. When you tap the Gallery icon, the focus (no pun intended) is now on the camera and the fullscreen viewfinder. If you want to see more of the photos in the gallery, swipe up from the bottom. You can also optimize the picture for chat (which sends it faster and uses less data) or send it in original quality (full media resolution). After selecting a photo from the gallery, tap on the small box on the right side of the top that says HD+ or HD to optimize the photo you selected. Oppo K13x's box and price range leak
Oppo started teasing the upcoming K13x a few days ago, billing it as a "durable performer" that is "designed for users who demand resilience and performance in equal measure". The brand hasn't revealed any of its specs yet, but does claim that it will have a long-lasting battery, ultra-fast charging, and some AI-powered camera features, of course. Today the K13x's box has been leaked ahead of its official unveiling, which is rumored to be coming by the end of this month (though Oppo hasn't yet issued invites). Along with the box, we also get an idea of what to expect in terms of pricing: the K13x will allegedly be under INR 15,000 in India. That makes perfect sense since this is going to be the successor to the K12x from last year, which launched at INR 12,999. It's still unclear if the K13x will receive a slight price hike or not, by the way. Unfortunately no specs have been outed for the K13x so far, even if it has already been certified and spotted in the Google Play Supported Devices list. So it's anyone's guess as to what it will bring to the table, but when we find out more about it, we'll let you know.
