Pro-Palestinian protesters force their way into Barnard College building, injuring an employee
NEW YORK — Pro-Palestinian protesters wearing kaffiyeh scarves and masks pushed their way into Barnard College's Milbank Hall, which houses the offices of the dean, and assaulted a school employee Wednesday, according to the school.
The protesters later left Milbank Hall in the night 'without further incident,' Barnard President Laura Rosenbury said in a statement.
'But let us be clear: their disregard for the safety of our community remains completely unacceptable,' the statement said.
The school had warned that if the students were not gone by 9:30 p.m. officials could be forced to take 'additional, necessary measures to protect our campus.'
The student group Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine said on the social platform X that protesters dispersed after the administration agreed to meet with them Thursday afternoon.
The demonstrators demanded amnesty for all students disciplined for pro-Palestinian action; a meeting with Rosenbury and Dean Leslie Grinage; and reversal of the expulsion of two students, according to the group.
'WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL OUR DEMANDS ARE MET. FREE PALESTINE,' it posted on X earlier in the day.
An employee was sent to the hospital after being assaulted by the protesters, Robin Levine, Barnard's vice president for strategic communications, said in a statement, without offering further details.
The protesters also encouraged other people to come on campus without identification, Levine added.
'Barnard leadership offered to meet with the protesters — just as we meet with all members of our community — on one simple condition: remove their masks,' she said earlier in the evening. 'They refused. We have also offered mediation.'
Videos posted by the student group showed people wearing masks and kaffiyehs chanting in a hallway. Some banged on drums, while others held megaphones.
Palestinian flags were hung on the walls, and slogans were scrawled on walls with messages such as 'Barnard funds genocide' and 'Free Palestine.'

The years-long legal case surrounding the blockchain tech and payments firm Ripple took yet another turn as the crypto firm, along with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), filed a joint motion to the District Court for the Southern District of New York on June 12. The motion renewed the parties' request to Judge Analisa Torres to grant an indicative ruling. It asked the court to dissolve a prior injunction and release $125 million held in an escrow. Earlier, Judge Torres denied a similar motion on May 15, calling it "procedurally improper.' The crypto community will keep a close watch on how she reviews the latest motion. Pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton is, however, 70% confident that Judge Torres will grant the motion that could bring the long legal battle to a final end. The SEC should have acknowledged the "overly aggressive" stance against crypto on the part of its prior leadership, which an appellate court found 'arbitrary and capricious,' Deaton opined. In her last judgment, Judge Torres asked the parties to demonstrate "exceptional circumstances" for her to vacate the ruling. Deaton said the SEC should have included a reference to pending crypto legislation such as the GENIUS and CLARITY Acts as an "exceptional circumstance." Ripple, on its part, should have highlighted how an injunction puts it at a disadvantage against competitors such as Circle (NYSE: CRCL), Deaton added. The argument submitted, the lawyer claimed, could be summed up as: 'Look judge, elections have consequences, and this is one of them.' It was in December 2020 that the SEC sued Ripple for the sale of allegedly unregistered XRP securities worth $1.3 billion. In July 2023, Judge Torres ruled that while the sale of tokens to institutional investors violated securities laws, their sale to retail investors didn't. In the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, Ripple's chief legal officer, Stuart Alderoty, personally donated $300,000 in XRP to Trump's campaign in June 2024. Once Trump won the election, Ripple Labs donated $5 million in XRP to his inaugural committee. Thereafter, Ripple and the SEC reached a settlement on March 25, as per which the company will pay $50 million of the original $125 million penalty, with the remainder refunded from escrow. The regulator has dropped cases against other crypto giants such as Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) and Binance. As per Kraken, XRP was trading at $2.16 at press time. Fetterman hypes Israel's ‘opportunity' against Iran, blasts Dems that have ‘taken side with the regime'
Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman knocked the left wing of his party that's turned against Israel – and underscored the stakes of the Jewish state's 'once in a generation opportunity' to take on Iran. 'There's no war crimes. This just was an existential war. You can never rebuild Gaza — would you have to rebuild Gaza — if Hamas is allowed to be in force?' Fetterman (D-Pa.) told 'Real Time With Bill Maher' on Friday. 'I think that's really the truth. And our party, the Democratic Party, has lost that argument, and they've taken side with the regime that doesn't have the kind of values and live the kind of ways that we want here in our country.' Still, Fetterman underscored that he is still a Democrat and disagrees with many of President Trump's top agenda items, such as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. 'I'm never going to be a part of the 40 trillion club, and now that's going to push our debt up to $40 trillion, I mean, it's incredibly dangerous,' Fetterman said, also noting his staunch opposition to Medicaid cuts. 'A lot of the things that have been happening since Trump took the office, a lot of it's professional wrestling,' he quipped. 'But for this, if they pass … the big, beautiful bill, that will change our nation, and that's going to impact, truly impact millions and millions of people.'

Group creates NYC campaign condemning 'Free Palestine' movement
A group representing more than 2,500 Orthodox rabbis nationwide will unveil a massive billboard this week in Times Square ripping the anti-Israel 'Free Palestine' movement as a domestic terror campaign fueled by antisemitic hate, The Post has learned. The 1,060-by-512 foot billboard paid for the Coalition for Jewish Values will be revealed Monday outside the Times Square Plaza office tower on Broadway near W. 42nd Street. It's 10-second, super-high-resolution animated video clip will run multiple times per hour for 30 days and features two images. One image includes a photo composite with an Hamas terrorist sporting a green headband and an anti-Israel Columbia University protestor wearing a white keffiyeh, along with the caption: FREE PALESTINE=SUPPORT HAMAS=CALLING FOR GENOCIDE. 4 A photo composite of what a massive billboard being paid for by the Coalition for Jewish Values will look like when it's unveiled in Times Square Monday.
