The Holy Shrine of Al-Kadhimiya announced today, Sunday, the participation of more than 14 million Pilgrims in the Rajabiya pilgrimage.
The shrine said in a press conference held today, attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The number of Pilgrims to Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him) reached more than 14 million Pilgrims."
It thanked "everyone who contributed to the success of the visit from Husseini processions and security forces that participated in various categories in securing the pilgrimage," noting that "there is high awareness among Pilgrims."
The Baghdad Operations Command announced earlier today the success of the security plan drawn up to secure the millions of people who commemorate Rajabiya pilgrimage.
The Ministry of Interior stated that the Rajab pilgrimage plan is the least in terms of traffic accidents, fires and rumors.
The Ministry of Transport also confirmed that the reverse delegation operations continue until the last Pilgrims in the holy Kadhimiya with the participation of 350 buses and 11 trains.

Baghdad ( – The Iraqi Ministry of Transport revealed on Thursday that Mosul International Airport is now fully operational and open to any airlines with the appropriate licenses, following a successful trial run earlier in the day. The test flight involved the landing of an Iraqi Airways Boeing 737 on the freshly rebuilt runway, a significant achievement ahead of the airport's formal opening on June 10. The spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Transport, Maitham Al-Safi, told the state-run news agency (INA) that the reopening of the airport represents a purely Iraqi accomplishment carried out under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Transport. Al-Safi stated that Iraqi Airways would be the first airline to operate flights to and from Mosul and that the ministry is willing to collaborate with other international airlines in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Iraqi government laws. The Iraqi official stressed the strategic importance of Mosul International Airport to Nineveh province, Iraq's second most populated province. He characterized the initiative as a major improvement in linking Mosul with the rest of Iraq and the world. During his last visit to Mosul last December to check the progress made in the airport's construction, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani ordered local authorities to open the airport on June 10 to convey a statement of resistance against terrorism. Al-Sudani is expected to fly from Baghdad to Mosul International Airport to commemorate the airport's inauguration. Mosul International Airport, which was previously destroyed by ISIS terrorists, is the third most important airport in Iraq, following Baghdad International Airport and Basra International Airport. The date set by the Iraqi Prime Minister to open Mosul International Airport coincides with the date Mosul was occupied by ISIS groups.

Erbil draws +89k tourists during Eid holiday
Shafaq News/ On Monday, authorities in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region, hailed the Eid al-Adha holiday a success, reporting smooth security and service operations. According to a statement issued by the Erbil governorate, a total of 89,301 tourists visited the city during the al-Adha holiday. Public parks and green spaces in Erbil received around 108,000 visitors, including 30,000 to Sami Abdulrahman Park. The influx aligns with previous projections for the season's tourism boom, as Erbil continues to position itself as a key attraction in the region. The statement highlighted the efforts of the Erbil Central District Administration, which detained 15 butchers for violating health regulations, closed 27 food establishments, and impounded four vehicles for transporting livestock unlawfully. Regarding municipal services, the statement said four butcher shops were closed for violations, 22 livestock and two transport vehicles were seized, and two cases of unregulated slaughtering were prevented. A total of 1,124 tons of slaughter waste was removed during the holiday. In the city's central livestock market, 1,461 sacrifices were conducted during the Eid period—270 large livestock and 1,191 small livestock. Erbil Security Directorate reported that the entire security plan was executed without incident, with forces remaining on high alert throughout the holiday (from June 7 to 10). The Civil Defense Directorate also reported successful execution of its plan, containing 16 fire incidents with no human casualties, and damages limited to property. Earlier, local authorities had anticipated a sharp rise in visitor numbers, expecting more than 300,000 tourists to arrive across the Region, thanks to improved infrastructure and favorable weather conditions compared to Iraq's southern provinces.

Kurdistan expects +300,000 tourists for Eid al-Adha
Shafaq News/ The Kurdistan Tourism Authority anticipates that the number of tourists visiting the Region during the Eid al-Adha holiday will exceed 300,000, marking a significant rise compared to Eid al-Fitr. Ibrahim Abdul-Majid, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Tourism Authority, informed Shafaq News that the holiday period begins two days before Eid and extends until the end of the week. During this time, visitor numbers are expected to surpass 300,000, up from approximately 200,000 recorded during Eid al-Fitr. Several factors contribute to this increase, including soaring temperatures across central and southern Iraq, which contrast with Kurdistan's milder climate. 'The longer holiday period also allows more people to travel,' Abdul-Majid noted. In Al-Sulaymaniyah, a hotel owner speaking on condition of anonymity reported occupancy rates exceeding 90 percent since the start of the week. 'We have not seen this level of demand in years. Most guests arrive from Baghdad, Basra, and neighbouring countries, attracted by the Region's cooler climate and scenic landscape,' the owner added. To accommodate the growing influx of visitors, the al-Sulaymaniyah Tourism Directorate has coordinated with security agencies to implement a comprehensive plan focused on ensuring tourist comfort and safety. Measures also include deploying security personnel at key sites, establishing multilingual information centres, and activating a hotline for complaints and inquiries.
