Spain severe weather warning with high temperatures and thunderstorms for Irish holidaymakers
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Spain's meteorological agency has issued a weather warning for high temperatures and potential thunderstorms, which could impact Irish tourists travelling to the popular holiday destination this week as the summer season kicks in. An orange warning, denoting 'important risk', has been issued by Agencia Estatal de Meteorología for Tuesday as temperatures soar throughout Spain. This is likely to be accompanied by heavy showers and thunderstorms in several areas of the country. The northeast of Spain could see temperatures reach highs of 40C, while many areas will be in the mid-30Cs. The orange weather warnings are in place for the regions of Aragon, Castilla y Lyon, Cataluna, Pais Vasco and La Rioja. A spokesperson for AEMET said: "Severe storms will occur across large areas of the northern half of the Iberian Peninsula, with heavy showers also likely in western Galicia, the Cantabrian region, the upper Ebro, the Iberian Peninsula, and the Pyrenees. Significantly high temperatures will occur in low-lying areas in the northeast and inland areas of the southern Iberian Peninsula." Many holiday destinations in Spain will be scorching this week, with conditions that would be considered heatwave in Ireland expected. Malaga and surrounding areas will range between the high 20Cs and high 30Cs, while Cordoba and Zaragoza could see the mercury hit 40C. The capital Madrid will also be sizzling, while other areas will get away with cooler conditions with 25-30C forecast for Barcelona and Seville. Valencia, located on Spain's east coast, will see temperatures fluctuate between 30C and 35C. Spain continues to be the most popular holiday destination for Irish tourists, with more than 2.5 million visits made each year to the hotspot. Dublin Bus route to be expanded from next weekend
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A Dublin Bus route that was launched earlier this year will be expanded from next weekend. Route L14 will be expanded to Cherrywood via Shankill from Sunday June 15th. The L14 will now connect Southern Cross, Bray, Palermo, Shankhill, Loughlinstown, Laughanstown and Cherrywood, including Green Line Luas. The enhancement nearly doubles the coverage area of the bus route which was rolled out as part of Phase 6A of BusConnects in January. The extension will deliver a bus service for residents in the area of Laughanstown, supporting the area's rapid growth and the ongoing development of new homes. The route will continue to operate every half an hour seven days a week, offering 35 return services Monday to Friday. The service will also continue to operate 32 return services on Saturdays, with 30 return services on Sundays and public holidays, ensuring enhanced transport connections for both weekdays and weekends. Jeremy Ryan, Director of Public Transport Services at the National Transport Authority, said: 'Building on the success of the initial launch of the L14 under Phase 6A of BusConnects in January, we've taken on board valuable customer feedback highlighting the need for stronger onward connectivity. "In response, we're pleased to announce that Route L14 will now extend to serve Cherrywood, Shankill, and connect with the Luas Green Line – making the serviced more accessible and convenient for our passengers.' Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info New Leap card zones will be introduced next week leading to revised fares for passengers.
