American woman's wild find in pharmacy freezer aisle

A shopper has taken to social media with a 'public service announcement' after heading over to her frozen food aisle to purchase some ice cream.
The American woman was shopping at CVS, a pharmacy and retail store in the United States, when she wanted to pick out a tub of her favourite frozen treat.
However, she was forced to ring a buzzer and wait for an employee to unlock the fridge so that she could access the ice cream section.
'This is a public service announcement, stop stealing from these people's store because why do I have to push a button to get some ice cream?' she asked.
'That's crazy.'
When the employee came out, the woman tried to ask why it was locked up but the employee didn't answer.
The move to lock up supermarket items isn't one solely seen in the US, with both Coles and Woolworths placing items such as Manuka Honey, deodorant and other beauty items behind locked screens.
Social media users' jaws dropped while watching the clip, with many confused as to why the frozen treat was locked up.
'Who the hell is stealing ice cream,' one person blatantly asked.
One defended the employee, saying, 'She's probably over it, too. These decisions to lock up things aren't decided at store level, but higher level. Especially if the location has a lot of theft in the area.'
'They're not stealing ice cream I've seen people LICKING and taking chunks from the tubs and putting them back,' one person revealed.
One added: 'Girl, I had to push for face wash and they made me leave it at the service desk until I was finished shopping. $9 Cetaphil. insane.'
'It's not even so much as people stealing it, but they will pick it up out of the freezer, then set it somewhere on the other side of the store, and when we find it, it's made a mess,' another added.
One said: 'If it's locked up I simply will not buy it. I'm not standing here for 10 minutes waiting for the one employee scheduled on the floor when I can do a drive up pick-up.'
'I don't understand … it's not stopping anything. You can walk away with it, eat it and leave it. If you unlock the makeup, they just hand it to you. you can still steal it! locking it up does nothing,' another commented.
Someone else weighed in: 'I think the reasoning for locking up ice cream was because of that one girl who went to a supermarket and licked all the ice cream that people were going to purchase.'

Two men jailed for stealing golden toilet from Winston Churchill's birthplace

Two men who smashed their way into a historic English property and ripped out a $9 million solid-gold toilet have been jailed for their part in the theft. James Sheen, 40, and Michael Jones, 39, were jailed at Oxford Crown Court in central England for four years and 27 months respectively. The sentences came as it was revealed Sheen is already serving 19 years in jail for a string of other offences, including a museum burglary and attacks on cash machines. The fully functioning 18-carat artwork was stolen in a raid on an exhibition at Blenheim Palace — the birthplace of Winston Churchill — near central Oxford in September 2019. The toilet artwork, dubbed America, was created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and had been on display as one of the star attractions at an exhibition in the 18th-century home. "This bold and brazen heist took no more than five-and-a-half minutes to complete," Judge Ian Pringle said. "America has never been seen again." Weighing about 98 kilograms, the artwork was insured for $US6 million ($9 million) and was made with 20 kilograms of gold. It was stolen just hours after a glamorous exhibition launch party by thieves wielding sledgehammers. Prosecutors said the work was likely broken up or melted down and sold soon after the theft. The gold has not been recovered. It is believed Sheen took the 20kg of gold to the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter in September 2019 and sold it for 26,000 pounds ($54,000) a kilogram. Jurors heard earlier that Sheen first contacted a third man, Frederick Doe, two days after the raid to ask if he could help him sell some of the gold. Doe replied to Sheen in a WhatsApp message: "I do know just the man you need to see." The 37-year-old, described by a judge as a "foolish" middleman, escaped jail for his role in the heist. He was handed a suspended sentence last month after being found guilty of conspiracy to transfer criminal property. Jones previously said he used the toilet at Blenheim Palace the day before it was taken. Asked what it was like, he told the court it was "splendid". Sheen admitted burglary and money laundering offences. Judge Pringle said his four-year jail term would be added to the 19 years he is already serving. Jones was found guilty of burglary after an earlier trial. AFP

Diddy trial stunned by shock appearance of Kanye West

Kanye West made a surprise appearance at Sean 'Diddy' Combs' sex-trafficking trial Friday morning, entering the courtroom with one of Combs' sons. When West - who goes by Ye Ye - came to the courthouse around 11.10am, screams could be heard from bystanders, who shouted questions at him and recorded with their phones. West - wearing all white denim pants and jacket and black sunglasses - was asked, 'Are you here to support Combs?' 'Yes,' the fellow rapper responded. He did not respond to questions about whether he's been following the trial, which has been running for five weeks. He was met by Combs' son Christian 'King' Combs, who walked with the rapper inside. Once West was cleared through the courthouse security, he got in an elevator and went to the 23rd floor to watch the trial on a television screen inside a less-used secondary overflow room. Two overflow courtrooms have been available throughout trial so the public can still view the trial in case the main courtroom reaches capacity. The main courtroom, however, was not full Friday. West briefly observed inside the room, before other reporters caught wind of his surprise visit, apparently prompting him to leave. West spent about 40 minutes total inside the courthouse before leaving with Combs' son and someone who appeared to be security. West's wife, Bianca Censori, was not in attendance or seen at the courthouse. West didn't answer questions as he got into a black car and drove away. A day earlier, one of Diddy's alleged victims, former gal pal 'Jane,' gave shocking testimony about an unnamed, world-famous rap 'icon' whom she said was into a 'similar' sex-crazed, 'freak-off' lifestyle as the Bad Boy Records founder. West didn't respond to reporters' questions about whether he was the 'iconic' rapper described on Thursday. One of Sean 'Diddy' Combs' alleged victims and his one-time gal pal 'Jane' testified that she attended a January 2024 Las Vegas party hosted by a famous rapper who was throwing a birthday party for his girlfriend. Jane said she was flown on the rapper's private plane to Sin City, where a group of attendees went to a play, then to a birthday dinner, before going to a strip club and capping the night off with an afterparty in a hotel room. Jane said at the afterparty she saw an escort named Antoine having sex with a woman as the rapper, his girlfriend and others watched. Jane said she and Diddy had hired Antoine several times to join in 'freak-offs' with them. And when she saw Antoine at the party, he told her he travelled around with the mystery rapper and his girlfriend. Jane also said she recommended to the rapper another escort she and Combs hired because, similar to the 'I'll Be Missing You' rhymer, the mystery rapper was into a 'similar' sex-crazed 'lifestyle.' Jane said Combs was upset with her when he found out she went to the rapper's party and subsequent 'freak-off'. Diddy, 55, is accused of using his fame, fortune and many businesses to run a decade-long scheme in which he controlled and manipulated his longtime girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie Ventura, 38, and others including Jane using violence and threats, forcing them into 'freak-off' sex marathons that went on for days. The rapper has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He faces life in prison if convicted.

Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown facing attempted murder charge in Miami

Controversial former NFL star Antonio Brown is a wanted man. Brown, 36, is being sought for arrest by police in Miami-Dade County on an attempted murder charge related to a shooting that happened outside a celebrity boxing event last month, the Washington Post reported on Friday (AEST). A judge signed the warrant on Wednesday and it listed a charge of attempted murder with a firearm, according to the New York Post. The Miami-Dade state attorney's office did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment. The Post attempted to reach out to an email address listed on Brown's social media account and did not immediately hear back. The warrant called for Brown to post a US$10,000 ($15,400) bond and be placed under house arrest pending a trial, according to the report. The incident occurred just after midnight on May 16 in the Little Haiti neighbourhood of Miami and Brown initially was detained by police and released hours later. Brown claimed at the time he had been jumped in an attempted robbery outside a Brand Risk boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross. Footage posted on social media detailed the chaotic scene as Brown appeared to be engaged in a fight with several men before falling. The footage later showed him kicking a man on the ground before it cut to sounds of what people said were shots being fired. Another video showed Brown in handcuffs being led away by police, but he later was released. According to the warrant, bystanders in the parking lot told police Brown was the shooter, though no weapon was found on the ex-football player when they patted him down. A pair of spent shell casings and an empty gun holster were found by police, the warrant stated. Detectives with Miami police later obtained video that showed Brown punching another man, which kicked off the fracas. It later appeared to show him taking the gun of a security officer before moving toward the person Brown had punched, WaPo reported the warrant stating. Mobile phone video recorded two gun shots occurring when Brown approached the victim and showed him ducking, while the warrant also stated the victim told police Brown 'began to run toward him with a firearm' after the initial fight was stopped. The person identified Brown on surveillance footage and told investigators he had known him since 2022, according to the report. Brown played 12 years in the NFL, nine of which were spent with the Steelers, with stints with the Patriots and Buccaneers at the tail end of his career. The wide receiver — who was released by the Bucs at the end of the 2021-22 season after ripping off his pads and jersey on the sideline during a game against the Jets — has been a lightning rod of controversy since he ended his playing career in 2021 with bizarre posts on his social media along with a slew of legal issues that included allegedly exposing himself to a woman in a hotel in Dubai. He also faced a battery charge in 2022 related to a domestic incident. In February, he posted an alleged half-naked photo of Keyshia Cole on his X account.
