The USC Trojans' 2025 college football recruiting class was one of the best in the country, ranking No. 15 nationally according to On3.

Headlined by five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet, they also signed the No. 1 junior college running back in the country Waymond Jordan.
After winning the NJCAA D1 Football Offensive Player of the Year in 2024, Jordan makes his way to one of the most prestigious schools in the country to continue his football career. He ran for 1,614 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns in 12 games, both of which led the nation.
On Monday, the top-ranked running back signed a massive NIL deal, where he is officially an athlete under C4 Energy.

C4 Energy has recently had some big names in college football sign NIL deals with them, most notably former Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers as well as current Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Zachariah Branch.

The first big move for Jordan, the No. 12 ranked junior college player in the 2025 recruiting cycle, as he prepares for his jump to Big Ten football.
Head coach Lincoln Riley looks to improve on what was a disappointing season for the Trojans' standards. Finishing with a 7-6 record in their first season in a new and difficult Big Ten leaves USC lots of room for improvement, and could use the explosiveness of Jordan.
The likely starting running back, as he and New Mexico Lobos transfer Eli Sanders will be their top two backs, will look to relieve the pressure off quarterback Jayden Maiava, and a solid wide receiver core to help him as well.
Boise State transfer Prince Strachan is a tall, physical receiver who can win 50/50 balls downfield, and returning receivers Ja'Kobi Lane and Makai Lemon look to improve on solid campaigns in 2024.

What Clemson football's Dabo Swinney means by welcoming UNC coach Bill Belichick to 'ROY Bus'
CLEMSON — Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney welcomed UNC's Bill Belichick to the "ROY Bus." Swinney — who has used the phrase to describe the group of teams that had to compete with Alabama for a national championship during its time under coach Nick Saban — explained its origins. When Swinney was a walk-on at Alabama in 1989, he said there was a locker room and bus for the regular team, and a locker room and bus for the "Rest of Y'all." Advertisement Swinney, entering his 18th season at Clemson, has used this saying throughout his tenure, and told Belichick that the Tigers and the rest of the ACC are still on the "ROY Bus." "We've been on the ROY bus for 16 years. The ACC, we're the ROY Bus . . . " Swinney said to the six-time Super Bowl winning coach. "SEC, Big Ten and the Rest of Y'all." This was among numerous topics Swinney and Belichick discussed during an hour-long conversation with ESPN's Rece Davis on May 12 at the ACC spring meetings in Amelia Island, Florida. The special aired on ACC Network on May 28. Here are other takeaways from the conversation between these two legendary coaches. Dabo Swinney on college football landscape, pending House settlement Swinney described the current name, image and likeness (NIL) landscape for football as "complete chaos" because there is no cap for paying players, and schools can't handle issues directly. Advertisement Still, he is optimistic that the impending House settlement will create "order" and "clarity." It received preliminary approval from judge Claudia Wilken in October 2024, which would provide $2.8 billion in back damages to athletes who could not profit off their NIL between 2016 and Sept. 15, 2024, and bring revenue sharing to college sports starting July 1, with a projected cap for 2025-26 of $20.5 million per school. Athletic departments are operating under the assumption that Wilken will approve the agreement. "Right now, there's no rhyme or reason for really anything. It's just whatever feels good in the moment," Swinney said. "You can do it, and anybody can be involved. So I think we'll have some clearer rules, more clarity, and I think a little bit more order coming sooner than later, and I think it's going to be a great time to be in college football." Bill Belichick's favorite Clemson football players he scouted in the NFL Belichick was the New England Patriots coach from 2000 through 2023 and has scouted plenty of Clemson players. The player who stood out most was defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, who played with the Tigers from 2015 to 2018 and was taken by the Miami Dolphins as the 13th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Advertisement "Character, playing ability, all-around player. He could rush, he could run, he was very good at the point of attack, (and) he was great, personal character, really smart kid . . . " Belichick said. "We had a hard time blocking him at Miami twice a year, so I didn't like that." Another player Belichick said gave his team fits was wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who played at Clemson from 2010 to 2012. "We double-covered Hopkins as much as any player I've ever coached," Belichick said. Dabo Swinney on Clemson facing 'New England Patriots' in 2025 Swinney said Clemson will try to beat the "New England Patriots" this season when it faces North Carolina on Oct. 4 and Boston College on Oct. 11. Belichick is in his inaugural season at UNC and Bill O'Brien enters his second season as the Eagles' coach. O'Brien was with the Patriots in various capacities from 2007 through 2011, and in 2023. Advertisement Yet Swinney said he has a secret weapon for both games in special teams player development/specialists coach Ryan Allen. He was the Patriots' punter from 2013 through 2018, winning three Super Bowls with them. "He's our specialist coach, and my secret sauce in finding a way to beat the Patriots in October," Swinney said with a laugh. "We brought him in last year, and so we're going to lean on him heavily to figure out how to defeat y'all." Derrian Carter covers Clemson athletics for The Greenville News and the USA TODAY Network. Michigan State athletic director J Batt says he's leading a top-10 department in college sports
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — J Batt said Michigan State has a top-10 athletic department in the country. The school's next athletic director made it clear that the football program must lead the way to make his statement ring true. The Spartans have been shaky in recent years in the sport that pays the bills in college athletics, losing seven games last year in coach Jonathan Smith's debut season. 'It comes down to resources and across the board, we will provide him and his staff with resources,' Batt said Wednesday when he was formally introduced. Batt left Georgia Tech, where he was its athletic director since the fall of 2022, to take on the challenge of raising money and turning around a football program in the highly competitive Big Ten. The university's Board of Trustees, which approved the selection, is scheduled to vote on Batt's hiring on June 13 and his first day on the job is June 16. Batt replaces Alan Haller, whose last day was May 11. Batt helped Georgia Tech bounce back in football. He hired coach Brent Key, who led the program to consecutive bowl games for the first time in a decade and earned a spot in The Associated Press Top 25 for the first time in nine years. In Batt's first season at Georgia Tech, 14 of 17 teams were in a postseason tournament. Before leading Georgia Tech's athletic department, he was executive deputy athletic director at Alabama and served as chief operating officer and chief revenue officer in the athletic department. Izzo reached out to his friend, former Alabama and Michigan State coach Nick Saban, as part of the school's search. 'Nick had great comments about him,' Izzo said. Batt recalled Saban speaking so fondly about Michigan State. 'He's always been so positive about this place,' Batt said. Batt also worked in athletics at East Carolina, Maryland, James Madison, William & Mary and North Carolina, where he played on the 2011 national championship soccer team. Batt is regarded as a strong fundraiser, an asset for any athletic department in this era of college athletics. At Michigan State, his top priorities will be to raise money and help the football program win. Universities will be allowed to share up to $20.5 million in revenue with athletes next year. Direct payments will be in addition to third-party name, image and likeness deals facilitated by school-affiliated collectives. 'We're going to be extremely successful and competitive in that space,' Batt said. ___ AP college sports:

Ohio State HC Ryan Day: Big Ten should have 'four' College Football Playoff bids
The Big Ten, which has produced the last two national champions (Ohio State in 2024 and Michigan in 2023), has a case for being the best conference in college football, and the head coach of the defending-champion Buckeyes, Ryan Day, feels that should be reflected in the College Football Playoff. "We're in the Big Ten, and we have 18 teams and some of the best programs in the country. I feel like we deserve at least four automatic qualifiers," Day said about the Big Ten, citing the conference's "quality of teams," according to ESPN. Last summer, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule expressed a similar sentiment about the Big Ten, saying "four teams" should get into the College Football Playoff because it's the "best league" in the sport. The Big Ten got to 18 schools when Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington joined for the 2024 season. Following an 11-year run of the four-team College Football Playoff, the sport introduced the 12-team playoff format in 2024. The top-four seeded conference winners earned a first-round bye, with seven teams receiving at-large bids. Last month, it was announced that the format was being altered for the 2025 season, with the top four ranked teams overall now receiving first-round byes, as opposed to a team winning their respective conference being a requisite to earn the first-round bye. However, winning a respective conference will still give a team a spot in the playoffs. Last season, Ohio State was the No. 8 seed in the playoffs, following a 10-2 regular season. The Buckeyes then won four consecutive games to win the College Football Playoff. Ohio State was one of four Big Ten schools to make the College Football Playoff, Oregon, Penn State and Indiana being the other three. Day and the Buckeyes open the 2025 season at home against the Texas Longhorns on Aug. 30 in what's a rematch of last season's College Football Playoff semifinal round; Ohio State beat Texas, 28-14. Day provided his perspective on why the Big Ten having a handful of shoo-in playoff teams is necessary. "If you don't have those automatic qualifiers, you're less likely to play a game like we're playing this year against Texas, because it just won't make sense," Day said. "If we do, then you're more likely to do that, because we play nine conference games in the Big Ten. The SEC doesn't. So it's not equal." Ohio State has made the College Football Playoff six times since the four-team playoff was instituted in 2014, three of those appearances coming with Day as head coach (2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024 seasons).
