Gorgeous mansion that looks like a castle hit the market for $4,999,000 and has the ultimate entertainment den

A stone-clad mansion in Illinois built to evoke the grandeur of a medieval castle is back on the market, complete with turrets, vaulted ceilings and a basement level entertainment wing fit for a king.
Located in the opulent Oak Brook neighborhood, the 12,000-square-foot castle-like home was originally listed in 2010 but no buyer snapped it up.
Now, relisted at $4,999,000, the five-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bath residence is making another bid to capture a royal buyer.
From the outside, the sprawling mansion is a spectacle.
Built in 2009, the home's architectural style draws heavily from European Gothic influences set with one-of-a-kind limestone accents, conical turret roofs, wrought iron balconies and arched windows and doorways.
The sprawling home sits on just under an acre of land in the wealthy Illinois suburb, nestled roughly 20 miles from downtown Chicago.
But, the mansion's castle motif doesn't stop at the front door, inside, the house boasts ornate woodwork, stone columns, grand twin staircases and oversized chandeliers hanging from soaring ceilings.
The Oak Brook home's central foyer is 'crowned' by a domed ceiling and sweeping double staircase - a fitting entryway to the castle-like mansion's unique interior.
The main level also includes a formal living room and dining room.
The mansion's extravagant kitchen is built for both daily use and lavish entertaining, outfitted with a sprawling island, commercial-grade appliances and custommade cabinetry.
Adjacent to the luxury kitchen sits a quaint breakfast nook, adding to the home's storybook feel.
Upstairs, the primary suite includes a large sitting room with a fireplace, a breath-taking marble-lined bathroom fit with a soaking tub and a walk-in closet 'fit for a king.'
As for the other four bedrooms, each is equipped with its own en-suite bathrooms and generous walk-in closet space.
But, its the home's lower level that truly sets it apart from the high-priced neigborhood's most luxurious estates.
The beautiful basement spans more than 4,000-square-feet and includes 56-by-30 foot recreation room that functions as a full-blown entertainment complex.
Inside, the house boasts ornate woodwork and curved stone columns
The jaw-dropping recreation space is outfitted with a full wet-bar, a stage-style seating area for a home theater, multiple lounging spaces and access to a temperature-controlled wine cellar.
There is also a fully equipped gym as well as direct elevator access to the upper floors.
Meanwhile, outside, a stone terrace overlooks the pristinely-kept backyard which features a built-in grill station, stunning pool and a hot tub, for an unparalleled mix of medieval ambiance and modern conveience.
The home, situated in the highly-acclaimed Hinsdale Central School District, also includes a heated four-car garage.
According to public records, property taxes on the castle-like mansion top out around $50,000 annually.
Down roughly $700,000 from the $5.7 million listing in 2010, the home remains on the market with the seller, Paul Iwanski, president of Iwanski Masonry - a development company specializing in education and public buildings such as fire stations - said he 'can wait' as he doesn't expect the home to sell anytime soon.

Iwanski told ChicagoBusiness.com that he envisioned using the castle as a bed and breakfast until it was sold.
Homes in the affluent Oak Brook neighborhood often attract deep-pocketed buyers, according to the Chicago-based outlet, which complimented the area's abundant space and privacy while still being within commuting distance of the major metropolitan.
'Nestled in the vibrant heart of Oak Brook, this property is perfect for buyers seeking to personalize their unique residence,' a Redfin listing reads. 'This extraordinary castle promises a refined lifestyle for those who truly appreciate exceptional homes.'

Inside Rachel Stevens' incredible walk-in-wardrobe filled with £20,000 Hermès handbags, Saint Laurent heels and Chanel

shared an inside look at her luxurious walk-in wardrobe on Instagram on Thursday. The singer, 47, who rose to fame as a member of the pop group S Club, showed off her extravagant designer collection as she thanked Neville Johnson Furniture for bringing her dream space to life. A series of aesthetic snaps revealed a sleek room lined with custom-fitted wardrobes and shelves brimming with luxury items - including £20,000 Hermès handbags, Jimmy Choo and Saint Laurent heels, and a jaw-dropping Chanel collection. To the right of the room, Rachel added a chic dressing table complete with ample storage drawers. The glamorous setup featured a large arched mirror flanked by elegant light fixtures, with a wooden tabletop that added a warm touch. Her bespoke wardrobes offered plenty of closet space, and viewers were given a glimpse of her enviable handbag and shoe collection. In one close-up shot, two Hermès Mini Kelly handbags can be seen sitting neatly on a shelf. The sought-after handbags typically retail from £20,000. Meanwhile, her Louis Vuitton mini backpack and JW Anderson black handbag were neatly placed beside the black Hermès Mini Kelly. Her Chanel collection also made a statement, with multiple classic flap bags on display, worth an estimated £27,540 in total. Gushing over her new space, Rachel captioned the post: 'Hey lovelies. Hope you're well and having a great week. 'I wanted to share my haven, my zen space (prayer emoji) there are still some details to add and a few decorative bits to change but I just LOVE it so much! 'I've created my dream room with the help of the brilliant, super talented and creative @simontcherniauk @nevillejohnsongroup who I absolutely loved working with from start to finish! 'Simon and the team were an absolute dream and I can't thank them enough for helping bring my vision and dream space to life and I can't recommend them enough. She concluded: 'I'll share the fun process and more details with you all soon x.' The post comes after Rachel shared an update on how her romance is going with boyfriend Brendyn Hatfield, 38, last month. The S Club 7 star who was partnered with the pro skater on Dancing On Ice in 2022, conducted an Instagram Stories Q&A with her fans. During the session where her followers were able to ask her personal questions, one fan asked the star: 'How are you and Brendyn (love heart emoji).' Sharing a sweet snap of herself and Brendyn and confirming they were still together, she responded: 'Really good thank you' alongside a smiley love heart emoji. Rachel was previously married to real estate agent and actor Alex Bourne, 48, from 2009 to 2022. She announced her separation from her childhood sweetheart in July 2022, just one month shy of their 13th anniversary. The S Club icon then announced she had found love with Dancing On Ice partner Brendyn. The couple went official with their romance in November 2023 after they were first paired together on the ITV show. Rachel previously lifted the lid on her separation from Alex during an appearance on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, comparing it to 'jumping off a cliff.' She admitted: 'It's a lot of navigating, especially with the girls because they've always been at the forefront.' 'I'm very lucky, their dad is a great dad, and we've always been so aligned with keeping them really safe in it and being really honest. 'We've had great advice on how to age-appropriately speak to them and help them feel safe in it all because that was my biggest fear - how they are going to be in all of this. She continued: 'You're changing your life. It's not only a marriage, it's a family around it, it's your friendship groups, your home, your children.' 'Changing your whole life, for me it felt like jumping off a cliff, like wow, it's the unknown. 'But I've always believed that we have to be happy, we have to be true to ourselves, and it's not something you decide overnight, it's something that takes so much thought and questioning. 'I haven't talked about it a lot publicly because I'm so mindful of everyone involved.' The former couple were childhood sweethearts and reconnected in the mid-2000s when Rachel was launching her solo career and Alex was still trying to make it as an actor in Los Angeles. They got engaged in June 2008 after 18 months of dating and tied the knot at Claridge's in London the following year. The pair walked down the aisle to S Club 7's hit Never Had A Dream Come True, and her bandmates - Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole and Tina Barrett - were there to watch them say 'I do'. The former couple also share two daughters, Amelie, 14, and Minnie, 11.

WE'VE all had a moment of picturing winning the lottery and what we'd splash the multi-million prize fund on, be it a luxury mansion or a swanky yacht. But for one woman, helping lucky lottery winners live out their wildest expensive fantasies isn't a daydream - it's her 9-to-5. 5 5 5 Amanda Herrera runs a specialist concierge service which helps National Lottery millionaires and high net worth individuals splash their cash. Amanda's service - called The Fixer - has handled over 5,000 bespoke requests from more than 600 new National Lottery millionaires. From booking luxury cruises to Antarctica to arranging meet-and-greets with hard-to-access celebrities, no request is too extravagant for the concierge professional. During the last five years, The Fixer has spent more than £4M chartering private jets for winners, and more than 500 dream holidays have been booked for family and friends as winners want to share their joy and celebrate with those closest to them. All big winners of the National Lottery receive specialist advice and support from experts from the operators, Allwyn. 'The Fixer' then steps in to 'add the magic touch' and help winners navigate their new lives - and big dreams - with flair. One of Amanda's most frequent requests from many winners is flying pet pooches with their owners to some of the most exclusive locations around the world – all because winners haven't wanted their dogs to miss out on the celebrations. Amanda said: 'It can be a daunting experience - it sounds crazy to say - but imagine going from having a small amount of money in the bank to suddenly having millions - just like that. 'It is one incredible journey that these winners are embarking on, and I feel so honoured to be able to play such an important role in crafting and creating bespoke and unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experiences for these incredibly lucky individuals. 'A new designer watch or handbag, a VIP trip to the Grand Prix in Monaco or a VIP world cricket tour, a meet and greet with a superstar or a private showing of Cirque de Soleil on your chosen desert island – these are all real experiences enjoyed by winners which we have helped to create.' With the EuroMillions jackpot hitting a massive £208M on Friday, June 6, Amanda and her team are on standby to help the next lucky winner. A single winner of this giant jackpot would be the biggest National Lottery winner ever in this country. Amanda added: 'It is an amazing feeling to be helping people to live and fulfil their dreams following their National Lottery win. 'Many of these people are just so overwhelmed with excitement at the prospect of what their new life now means - they simply don't know where to start and what to do with their new-found fortunes and this is where we can step in to help, reassure and guide them on their journey to living their ultimate dream and fulfilling their bucket list.' 5 5 MILLION POUND IDEA Amanda got the idea for The Fixer when her beach bag was swept out to sea during a Caribbean lunch break. She shared: 'I returned to my lounger, and it had gone. 'The time and trouble it took me to sort everything was unreal. 'My bag had everything in it. 'This was what made me think - wouldn't it be great if there was someone who could do all of this for me and take away the hassle of this mishap while I am on my dream holiday. 'Something like this could so easily happen to anyone. 'Not only this but having someone to help arrange my holiday for me was something that I thought pretty much anyone in the world would appreciate - particularly people with more money than most who might have more on their to-do list to organise. 'All this leading to me really having the best job in the world. I love helping and supporting people.' Many of these people are just so overwhelmed with excitement at the prospect of what their new life now means - they simply don't know where to start and what to do with their new-found fortunes and this is where we can step in Amanda HerreraFounder of luxury concierge service The Fixer Andy Carter, Senior Winners Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, has paid an accumulation of billions to the lucky winners of The National Lottery. Squirming A Place In The Sun host 'shocked' as couple walk out of property tour with cutting six-word swipe

A squirming A Place In The Sun host was left 'shocked' after a couple walked out of a property tour with a cutting six-word swipe. In a previous episode of the Channel 4 show, property expert Ben Hillman was on a mission to help Ian and Emily find their family friendly holiday home in Mallorca, Spain. The pair, who share three kids, had a budget of £440k and were very interested to buy in the town of Pollença, which is in east Mallorca. Ian and Emily explained that they need three bedrooms, space for a car and potentially a communal pool. Unlucky for Ben, the first two properties didn't tick all their boxes, so the interior designer took them to a £358k four-bedroom townhouse in Old Town Pollensa. At first glance, Emily described it as 'lovely' and 'gorgeous'. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. In a previous episode of the Channel 4 show, property expert Ben Hillman (pictured), was on a mission to help Ian and Emily find their perfect family holiday home She said: 'They are appealing from the outside, except you don't know what is inside. I'm intrigued.' Despite the positive start, it soon fell flat. As soon as they walked through the door, Ben put on his charm and tried to sell the property to them. While Ian said it had 'baked in character', Emily brutally confessed: 'It's not doing it for me.' Ben replied: 'Oh no, really?' She continued: 'Sorry, it feels like the basement of that other place. It's dark. 'I kind of thought we might come in and there'd be a light well of a courtyard or garden. 'And it's the complete opposite of what I thought I might see.' Ian asked: 'It has shocked you, hasn't it?' She explained: 'I think it has shocked, yeah, it's not what my expectation was.' Ben asked: 'Does this rule out townhouses for you?' Ian said: 'I don't think it rules out townhouses... 'It rules out this one.' Emily chimed in: 'Yeah.' Ian explained: 'I see the character, I see the appeal. 'And there's a lot of cottages. 'I'm from a village called Ackridge and it reminds me of that me of that kind cottagey feeling. 'It's just not something that I'd probably live in myself again.' A defeated Ben said to them both: 'It doesn't seem worthwhile looking around any more of this, does it?' The both told him that it wouldn't and headed off to their next property, without even bothering to complete the tour. The couple did end up liking the last property that Ben ended up showing them - a £358k three-bedroom townhouse in Cala Sant Vicenc. However they decided that they didn't like it enough and went home to continue their search.
