7th UAE aid ship for Gaza docks at Al Arish Port

AL ARISH (WAM)The 7th UAE aid ship, the ''Zayed Humanitarian Ship'', docked at the Egyptian Port of Al Arish today. Its arrival coincides with the holy month of Ramadan and ahead of the Zayed Humanitarian Day, in preparation for delivering aid to the Gaza Strip.The ship was received at Al Arish Port by a delegation that included representatives of charitable organisations and Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), along with Egyptian officials.The delegation also visited the UAE Floating Hospital in Al Arish, which provides medical services to Palestinian residents of Gaza as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3. They toured the hospital, familiarised themselves with its different departments and services offered to injured individuals from Gaza, and met with patients to check on their health conditions. Additionally, they inspected the UAE aid warehouses in Al Arish.The ship departed from Hamriyah Port in Dubai on March 1 as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, aiming to meet the urgent needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza. It is the largest aid shipment sent since the launch of the operation, carrying 5,820 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including food supplies, medicines, medical equipment, dates, and shelter materials, to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.This initiative is in line with the directives of the UAE's wise leadership, reaffirming the country's unwavering humanitarian approach in providing aid and relief to affected populations.Several charitable and humanitarian organisations are involved in this relief effort, including the Emirates Red Crescent, the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Fujairah Charity Association, Dar Al Ber Society, the Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works, the Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi Foundation for Humanitarian Work, the Sharjah Charity International, the International Charity Organisation, the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation, the Al Etihad Charity Foundation, and the Al Ihsan Charity Association.
The dispatch of this aid ship is part of a series of initiatives launched by the UAE to provide urgent relief to Palestinian people, reaffirming its commitment to supporting humanitarian causes in the region.

The GHF uses private American military contractors to operate its sites and has been accused of a lack of neutrality and independence by UN and other international humanitarian agencies. Gaza death toll nears 55,000 as aid sites continue to come under fire
The Palestinian health ministry in Gaza said on Monday that the bodies of 108 people killed by Israeli strikes have been brought to hospitals in the past 24 hours. Hospitals also received 393 wounded, the ministry said in its daily report. The new deaths brought the total death toll from Israel's war on Gaza to 54,880 since 7 October 2023, with 126,227 wounded. The ministry said the tally includes 4,603 dead and 14,186 wounded since Israel resumed the war on March 18, ending a nearly two-month ceasefire. It also reported that five people were killed and more than 123 injured since this morning after being shot near aid distribution sites. The total number of reported deaths from designated aid distribution areas has now reached 115, with over 1,110 injuries, the ministry added.

Gaza's main hospitals face imminent shutdown amid fuel shortage
The Palestinian health ministry warned in a statement that two of Gaza's most vital medical facilities - al-Shifa Medical Complex and al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital - could go out of service within the next 24 hours due to a severe fuel shortage. The ministry said both hospitals are currently providing emergency care to the wounded and sick in Gaza City and the northern part of the strip, following the closure of several other facilities in the area for similar reasons. 'If al-Shifa and al-Ahli go out of service, it would mean the collapse of the remaining health infrastructure in Gaza City,' the ministry warned. The Nasser Medical Complex, another major hospital in southern Gaza, is also facing a critical fuel shortage. It is operating on a limited supply that is expected to last no more than two days, according to the statement. The ministry added that despite the worsening crisis, it has not received any indication or communication that fuel will be allowed into Gaza to power hospital generators.
