He added that the team has been working really hard. He said:
"I think our guys are still playing hard, and that's what I look at, guys are working hard every day, they come with energy, for the most part. I don't think we are (at that point of firing Black). Guys still believe in what we are doing and where we are headed. We are all frustrated."
Bud Black reacts while being in a difficult spot
While the Colorado Rockies are having a terrible season and don't want to call it a rebuild, things are not going great. On Saturday, the Rockies lost 21-0 to the San Diego Padres. This is their eighth loss in a row. Their 6-33 record is the worst since 1988. Regarding the situation, their manager Bud Black said:
'I hate it. I hate that big-time, It's been a function of where we've been the last four days with the doubleheader and a little bit from our starters. We've had a lot of relievers who pitched a lot lately and you've got to save some arms.'

MLB Rumor: Ethan Holliday could continue family legacy with Colorado Rockies in 2025 MLB draft
Ethan Holliday could continue family legacy with Colorado Rockies in 2025 MLB draft (Image via Getty) The Colorado Rockies could soon welcome another member of the Holliday family. With the 2025 MLB Draft set for July 13 during All-Star Week in Atlanta, many eyes are on Ethan Holliday, a top high school player from Oklahoma. If picked by the Rockies at No. 4, it would continue a special family connection that began with his father, Matt Holliday, back in 1998. Top prospect Ethan Holliday set to make Rockies history like dad Matt Holliday In the latest mock draft released on Thursday, June 6, 2025, Ethan Holliday is projected to be picked No. 4 overall by the Colorado Rockies. Ethan plays infield at Stillwater High School in Oklahoma and is currently ranked as the top prospect in the 2025 class. Ethan's father, Matt Holliday, was drafted by the Rockies in the seventh round of the 1998 MLB Draft. Matt played his first five MLB seasons with Colorado and was a three-time All-Star while with the team. Ethan's older brother, Jackson Holliday, was also a high draft pick, going No. 1 overall to the Baltimore Orioles in 2022. If the Rockies go forward with this pick, the Holliday legacy in Colorado baseball would grow even stronger. Fans have been buzzing about the idea since Bleacher Report also predicted Ethan to the Rockies back in April 2025. Also Read: 'Not Being Worst Team' – Kyle Freeland Speaks Out As Colorado Rockies Face A Brutal Season In MLB History Why Ethan Holliday might fall to Rockies at No. 4 despite being No. 1 prospect In earlier predictions, Ethan Holliday was expected to go first to the Washington Nationals, but the latest changes show Louisiana State University pitcher Kade Anderson moving to the top. On Thursday, June 6, wrote that Anderson's strong NCAA showing helped his stock rise quickly. He threw seven shutout innings with 11 strikeouts during Regional play, catching scouts' attention. The next expected picks are Liam Doyle to the Los Angeles Angels at No. 2 and Aiva Arquette, a shortstop from Oregon State, to the Seattle Mariners at No. 3. Even with these changes, noted, 'This has been the perceived floor for Holliday,' meaning No. 4 might be the lowest spot he falls. If Ethan joins the Rockies, he could be part of the team's rebuild, as they currently hold the worst record in the league (12-50) as of Friday, June 6, 2025.

'Time will tell with repercussions': Mitchell Starc issues first statement after pulling out of IPL 2025 midway
Mitchell Starc explained why he didn't return to the IPL 2025 after its resumption. Starc said due to safety concerns after Operation Sindoor, he decided not to go back. The Australian pacer added that he remains committed to Delhi Capitals and is ready to face the repercussions. read more London: Mitchell Starc is still 'heavily committed' to his Indian Premier League team Delhi Capitals but only 'time will tell the repercussions' after he decided not to return after the resumption of the tournament unlike some of his other Australian colleagues. Starc decided against returning to India when IPL resumed on May 17 following a 10-day break after country's armed forces executed Operation Sindoor, a military operation in response to Pakistan-backed terrorists killing 26 civilians in Pahalgam. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Starc, who was a vital cog in the Capitals' bowling line-up, took 14 wickets in 11 matches, featured in the contest against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on May 8 when lights abruptly went off in the stadium and the game was abandoned. Starc's wife and Australia Women's captain Alyssa Healy was also attending the game when the game was stopped and the stadium was urgently evacuated due to Dharamsala's proximity with the international border. The 35-year-old Starc said he had his doubts heading into that IPL game between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings given the tensions. 'I'm comfortable with my decision and how I felt about the whole situation and how it was handled,' Starc was quoted as saying by The Age. 'That's why I made my decision post-that, and my focus changed to red-ball cricket for about a week prior to coming over here (the UK).' 'Time will tell with repercussions or how it looks with guys that didn't return. But I've had my questions and concerns leading into that game, and obviously we saw what happened, which played a part in my decision,' he said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Starc said for the same reasons he had decided not to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy with the Australian team earlier this year. 'There was a little bit of that to my decision around the Champions Trophy (in Pakistan) and then once the tournament (IPL) was delayed, you start to think about guys' preparation for the Test match,' he said, referring to Australia's World Test Championship final against South Africa to be played at Lord's from June 11. Starc said things were 'handled differently for different players and different teams' in Dharamsala. Both the teams along with broadcast crew had returned to Delhi from Pathankot in a special train. 'Things were handled differently for different players and different teams, the guys up in Dharamsala, the Punjab guys were part of that, and while both teams had similar experiences up there, all those guys returned for Punjab, and Jake (Fraser-McGurk) and I chose not to,' he said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'It was a very individual decision, and I'm happy to live with whatever comes of that." 'I'm still heavily committed to the Delhi group, and I'm not someone that's gone into tournaments and pulled out after being picked up in an auction or whatever that looks like. These are different circumstances,' Starc said. Starc, who won the IPL last year with Kolkata Knight Riders, said having lack of information was also among the reasons he chose not to go back to India. 'It was more a question of not having enough information leading into making a decision (about) things of that degree. I had a discussion back home then came to a decision, and whatever comes from that I'm comfortable with that and we move forward,' he said. 'We will stick to the way we've been playing' Starc said irrespective of the talk about the WTC final against South Africa, Australia will look to play the brand of cricket they've been playing. 'We'll stay true to how we've been playing our cricket, the way we've been playing to get into this final, the way we've been playing it the previous two years to get to that final (in 2023),' he said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'We'll have our tactical meetings and whatnot, but ultimately this team has shown over a period of time that we'll stick to the way we play our cricket.' Starc added, 'Close followers of the team would have a different opinion to South Africa about how we're going to play this week.'

I still want to represent DC in IPL 2026: Aussie quick Mitchell Starc
Australia's pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has made it clear that he remains committed to the Delhi Capitals franchise and hopes to return for the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League, despite his absence from the latter half of IPL 2025. Starc opted not to rejoin the Capitals after the tournament resumed post a 10-day suspension due to Operation Sindoor—India's counter-response to a terror attack in Pahalgam. While many Australian cricketers returned, Starc stayed back, citing personal reservations around safety and insufficient clarity at the time. The veteran quick emphasised that his decision was grounded in personal comfort and awareness of the broader situation rather than any lack of commitment to his IPL team. 'I'm happy to stand by what I felt was the right call for me,' he shared. Security and Uncertainty Prompted Decision Starc admitted he had concerns even before Delhi Capitals' 8 May match against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, a fixture that was eventually abandoned after a power failure led to an emergency evacuation. The match's proximity to the international border only added to his unease, especially with wife Alyssa Healy present in the stands. The left-arm quick said the event reinforced his doubts and helped him reach a firm decision not to return when the tournament resumed. Repercussions Don't Worry Me, Says Starc Acknowledging that some may view his choice critically, Starc said he is prepared to face any consequences. 'Time will tell how it's perceived, but I stand by it,' he said, adding that different players had different comfort levels and situations, and he respected each individual decision. Lack of Information a Key Factor Starc stressed that a lack of timely and reliable information regarding the situation was a major influence. After returning home, he weighed the risks and decided to shift focus towards Test cricket, especially with the World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord's on the horizon. Still Loyal to Delhi Capitals Despite the unexpected break, Starc reiterated his loyalty to Delhi Capitals. He said he has never been one to withdraw lightly from a tournament after being selected at auction and that his decision came under exceptional circumstances. 'I still want to be part of this group,' he said, hinting at a strong desire to return next season and continue his IPL journey with the Capitals. Australia Focused Ahead of WTC Final Looking ahead to Australia's WTC final, Starc said the team would stick to their strengths and continue playing their brand of cricket. 'We won't be changing how we play,' he remarked, confident that their tactical consistency will serve them well against South Africa.
