Plans for 266 new homes in Brigg withdrawn

BBC News29-04-2025

Plans to build 266 new homes in Brigg have been withdrawn.Bellway Homes was granted permission to build 290 properties on the outskirts of the town in May last year.Outline permission was also sought for what would have been the second phase of the development.Bellway said it had withdrawn the application for the second phase due to an overlap with an application from another developer.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), Gleeson Homes has submitted a proposal for 112 homes on much of the same land, north of Western Avenue and to the south of the M180.In a statement, Bellway told LDRS it had withdrawn its application "due to the boundary of the planned development overlapping with an adjacent application from another house builder". "We are currently reviewing our plans and are unable to provide any further details at this stage," a spokesperson added. The land north of Western Avenue is allocated for housing in North Lincolnshire Council's Local Plan.

Future of Llancaiach Fawr branded scandalous as Grade-I listed manor is mothballed

Future of Llancaiach Fawr branded scandalous as Grade-I listed manor is mothballed Caerphilly County Borough Council has closed Llancaiach Fawr amid ongoing uncertainty over its future, with the venue near Nelson being 'mothballed' and put on the market Llancaiach Fawr (Image: Google/Local Democracy Reporting Service ) The decision to shut down Llancaiach Fawr has been labelled a "retrograde step", amidst ongoing doubts about the future of the heritage site. The Grade-I listed manor, located near Nelson, has been "mothballed" and up for sale since January, following a cost-cutting move by Caerphilly County Borough Council to cease its annual subsidy for the site. The council's Plaid Cymru opposition group has claimed there is "no sign" of the venue reopening "anytime soon". Plaid revealed that a council response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request indicated that while 15 viewings had been scheduled, no offers have been made so far. "The closure was yet another flawed decision by the Labour cabinet, made against the opposition of the public and many councillors," stated Cllr Lindsay Whittle, who heads the Plaid group. Plaid Cymru group leader Lindsay Whittle at Ty Penallta (Image: Plaid Cymru/Local Democracy Reporting Service ) "We want to see Llancaiach Fawr reopened to the public as soon as possible, but given the lack of submissions of interest so far then we might be waiting quite a long time. It really is scandalous that this tourist and historical icon of Caerphilly remains shut." Plaid Senedd Member Delyth Jewell described the venue as "irreplaceable" and "the centre of the community", including for thousands of schoolchildren who visited on trips. Stay informed on Caerphilly news by signing up to our newsletter here Article continues below "Many of us warned that if the council closed its doors, they might never reopen again," Cllr Jewell said. "What a crying shame it will be if that turns out to be the case." Councillor Delyth Jewell (Image: Plaid Cymru/Local Democracy Reporting Service ) Yet, these opinions have been contested by the council's deputy leader, Labour's Jamie Pritchard. He remarked that there has been "a high level of interest from a range of organisations who have submitted business cases to secure a bright new future for Llancaiach Fawr". Cllr Pritchard mentioned that the council "received so much interest, we ran more open days than originally envisaged". Councillor James Pritchard (Image: CCBC/Local Democracy Reporting Service ) He added: "I must say, for leading Plaid politicians to say there has been a lack of submissions tells me they have simply ignored a statement I put out more than two weeks ago," and continued, "This is a very peculiar and totally unproductive way to operate. We are very positive about the future of Llancaiach Fawr, and we look forward to issuing further updates over the coming weeks." Article continues below In response to Plaid's Freedom of Information Act request, the council disclosed it is "now awaiting submissions from those that expressed an interest" in managing Llancaiach Fawr but noted that a definitive timeline "cannot be confirmed at this stage". The council also revealed that 37 staff members had their employment "terminated" at the site, with one individual retained until the end of June "to maintain the open space", and two others successfully redeployed within the council.

Three giant wind turbines planned near Bluestone

Three giant wind turbines planned near Bluestone The proposed site on agricultural land across three fields would be accessed from the A4075 via an existing track, opposite Bluestone Resort's service entrance An image of what the three wind turbines close to Oakwood and Bluestone would look like (Image: Local Democracy Reporting Service ) Detailed proposals have been submitted for three towering wind turbines - each standing at 328ft - near Bluestone holiday park and the former Oakwood theme park in Pembrokeshire. Slebech Investments Limited, based in High Wycombe, has applied to Pembrokeshire County Council for permission to erect three wind turbines, each up to 100m tall, at Newhouse Farm, Canaston Bridge. The location is close to both parks and near the boundary of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The planned development would occupy agricultural land spanning three fields, approximately 3.5 kilometres from Narberth. ‌ Access to the site would be off the A4075, using an existing track opposite the service entrance of Bluestone Resort, around 350m south of Bluestone's main roundabout entry. ‌ This formal application comes after a preliminary screening enquiry to the council in February and subsequent communication of the plans to local county councillors, community councils, and residents. Plans for three wind turbines close to Oakwood and Bluestone have been submitted to Pembrokeshire planners (Image: Local Democracy Reporting Service ) Should approval be given, the trio of 1MW turbines are expected to produce enough electricity to supply around 1,900 households, according to the applicants. While the energy would feed into the national grid, investigations are ongoing into direct usage possibilities for nearby businesses. Article continues below A statement from agent Sirius Planning, said "The footprint of the proposed development is modest in scale, with the wider fields and landholding able to continue to operate with minimal impact from the proposal. "In addition, ecological enhancements implemented in recent years within the landholding will not be impacted by the proposed wind turbine development. The overall context of the site is rural with the site surrounded to the south and east by agricultural fields and woodland areas. "To the north is PBE Fuels, Bluestone Resort head office (The Grange) and Newhouse Farm. To the west are agricultural fields and the A4075, beyond which is Bluestone Resort, comprising holiday lodges and leisure amenities, and Oakwood Theme Park. A ground-mounted solar scheme is located to the south-west of the site beyond the A4075." ‌ If approved, the project would require roughly four months of construction, with an estimated 354 deliveries to the site, according to the statement. The applicants have indicated that a public consultation event is likely to take place during the planning process. In the initial screening application, Sirius suggested that the turbines could supply power for Bluestone Holiday Park Resort and/or Oakwood Theme Park. ‌ Since the initial application, Oakwood has shut down, but there have been recent discussions about a potential revival. Read the biggest stories in Wales first by signing up to our daily newsletter here On the screening application, Sirius stated: "There are no designated or non-designated features within the application site which are protected for their landscape and scenic value. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park lies to the north and west beyond the Bluestone Resort and Oakwood Theme Park. "The landscape character already incorporates existing wind turbines and other large vertical structures, such as Oaklands Theme Park rollercoasters which are existing detractors within the landscape." Article continues below According to Companies House, Slebech Investments Limited, based at West Wycombe Park Office, West Wycombe Park, lists two directors: Sir Edward John Francis Dashwood and Lady Lucinda Nell Dashwood. The proposals will be reviewed by county planners at a future date.

Unlisted Launches Airea (AI Real Estate Assistant) to Expand the Market

BOSTON, MA, June 5, 2025 (EZ Newswire) -- Unlisted, opens new tab, the first real estate platform focused exclusively on homes not yet for sale, today announced the launch of Airea™, the company's next-generation Artificial Intelligence Real Estate Assistant. Airea expands Unlisted's AI capabilities to unlock opportunities in the 95% of the housing market that is largely ignored — the homes that aren't currently listed for sale. The four-week rollout includes three key features: Airea Smart Search, Airea Smart Script, and Airea Smart Score. Airea Smart Search enables buyers and their agents to search for homes using natural language and see every home in the desired area — not just the homes currently for sale. Buyers can describe exactly what they want, like: 'Show me homes in Dallas, Texas with four bedrooms and a pool' — and Airea instantly returns matches from the full universe of homes. Airea™ Smart Search helps users discover possibilities they wouldn't otherwise see. 'Airea Smart Search lets buyers search the way they think,' said Sam Pro, CTO of Unlisted. 'Because Unlisted considers every home, not just active listings, we needed a smarter, more scalable tool. AI is helping us process massive datasets and uncover hidden opportunities faster than ever before.' A second key initiative, Airea Smart Script uses AI to generate detailed, engaging home descriptions for every property in the U.S. Basic public data is transformed into rich, readable narratives. Homeowners can claim their property and personalize these descriptions — making it easier than ever to tell the story of their home and perpetually attract interested buyers. Finally, launching in July, Airea Smart Score curates a list of homes based on how well they match a user's preferences, even though the homes are not for sale. Properties are scored and sorted to highlight the best fits, and buyers and their agents are given the option to connect with homeowners to explore real estate opportunities now or in the future. 'It's a completely new way to view the housing market, offering more information and more possibilities,' said Katie Hill, founder and CEO of Unlisted. 'AI allows us to process data at a scale that simply wasn't possible just two years ago. Airea is a case study in how AI can expand real estate opportunities for buyers, homeowners, and the industry as a whole.' For more information, visit opens new tab and opens new tab.
