Joy fills Sharjah's mosques and prayer grounds on Eid Al Adha
A Greeting from Sharjah Sheikh Salem Al Doubi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, its people, and the entire Islamic nation on the occasion of Eid Al Adha. He prayed to Almighty God to return this blessed occasion with goodness, prosperity, and blessings, and to preserve the nation's security and well-being. A Day of Devotion and Celebration In exclusive remarks to 'Sharjah 24,' Sheikh Salem emphasised that Eid Al Adha is a day of great happiness where sincerity and closeness to God are manifested. From the early morning hours, crowds of worshippers gather at prayer grounds and mosques, reciting takbeer and tahleel, after washing themselves and adorning their finest Eid garments. Following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), they take one route to the prayer and return by another. Sacrifice and Solidarity in Eid Traditions The Sheikh pointed out that Muslims commemorate this blessed occasion by offering sacrificial animals in emulation of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). They partake in the meat, distribute it as charity, and gift it to relatives and neighbours — a profound embodiment of compassion and solidarity that the rituals of Eid cultivate. Families gather, relatives visit each other, homes overflow with joy, gifts, and expressions of gratitude to God for His countless blessings. Eid Sermon: A Message of Sincerity Sheikh Al Doubi noted that this year's Eid sermon was titled 'Our Eid: A Celebration of Sincerity," focusing on the themes of devotion and obedience. Meanwhile, pilgrims spend the most sacred day standing on the plains of Arafat, before proceeding to Muzdalifah and then circumambulating the Holy Kaaba. In this shared moment, the joy of Muslims across the world becomes complete. Days of Tashreeq: Continuing the Joy He added that the following days — the three Days of Tashreeq — remain days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of God. Muslims seize these moments with continued takbeer and tahleel, extending the celebration of Eid, maintaining family ties, and preserving the holiday as a season where joy is intertwined with worship, and mercy and unity blossom among people.
